chapter-1189
'I wonder when it will open…'
Having loitered around the Forge of Beginnings for almost the entire day already, impatience inevitably began to appear on Belial's face, considering that the time they've spent waiting could've been used to obtain more XP and money instead.
However, rather than submit to the urge he felt to head back to the wilderness with Tianshen and the others, he instead continued to wait for Valyr to appear, getting the feeling that it'll happen at some point.
'I suppose Valyr was just an NPC made to catch our attention?' Of course, with over two days having already passed with the shop still remaining closed, it went without saying that Belial slowly began to lose hope in the idea.
Then again, that was because he wasn't the only one waiting around the area for the Forge of Beginnings to open."…Hey, Belial." Leaning on the walls of a nearby house, a dark-haired, dark-eyed woman looked at Belial with a hint of annoyance.
"Hmm? What's up, Moonlight?"
"You sure waiting for this shop to open is worth spending most of our time?"
Hearing the question that left her mouth, Belial wryly smiled in response, glancing at the others for a bit to see their opinions on the matter.
Considering that he was the one who accompanied him back when they entered the Forge of Beginnings the first time, it went without saying that Tianshen was more than ready to spend enough time waiting for Valyr to appear.
However, as the only other person in their group to have not seen what kind of items Valyr sold in his shop, Avaris also began to feel a bit of impatience, even though he tried his best to not make it as obvious like Moonlight did.
Briefly thinking back to the time when the four of them finally gathered together, Belial recalled how the four of them immediately made their way to the outskirts of the village, fighting against both monsters and players in order to rack up enough XP to level up.With all of them being part of the Five Leviathans, it was no surprise that many of the players gave way to them, allowing them to accumulate both XP and money far faster than the other players.
Thus, by the end of the first day, the four of them were able to get their hands on a few pieces of basic equipment with the money they earned, buying them from the village smithy that Belial and Tianshen planned to head to first.
The routine they did on the second day wasn't that much different from what they did during the first day, spending most of their time killing the monsters and beasts loitering around the village to gain experience.
With them showcasing the pinnacle talent of what players had to offer, it was no surprise that the four of them were able to amass more than enough XP to reach the peak of Rank 0 in the span of the first two days.
In fact, the amount of XP they amassed was enough for them to ascend to their Rank 1 classes if they so wanted to.
Aside from that, they saved up more than enough money throughout the two days to outfit themselves head to toe with the equipment they would need.
However, with the final member of their group, Astra_Aeterna, still not logged into the game due to logistic issues, the four postponed the idea of outfitting themselves with equipment, as well as tackling the only dungeon that was available to them for the meantime.
Because they wouldn't have issues ascending to a Rank 1 class within the first day of the game being opened to the public, the four decided to take it easy for a bit, which both Belial and Tianshen took as an opportunity to talk about the shop they visited while waiting for the other two to arrive.
Of course, both Moonlight and Avaris' interests were piqued after hearing how amazing the items in the shop were from the two of them. And so, the four of them decided to wait for the shop to open, thinking that it'd be best if they were to enter the dungeon fully outfitted with the equipment Valyr had to offer.
'Yet, even though we've been waiting here for the entire day, there are no traces of him to be found.' Faintly letting out a sigh at the thought of their waiting being all for naught, Belial thought that now was probably the right time to shift their focus back to what was more important.
After all, neither he nor the others were the leader of the group. If anything, any suggestion or decision they made had to keep the others in mind.
Fortunately, as if the heavens had rewarded the four of them for their efforts, an ordinary-looking NPC began to make his way to the Forge of Beginnings all of a sudden, arousing the interest of a few players within the vicinity.
Wondering if the NPC was just like them and were hoping to buy some equipment from Valyr's shop, those thoughts immediately disappeared when he began to let out a chuckle at the sight.
"I apologize for having all of you wait for so long."
Whoosh!
Before their very eyes, the NPC began to gradually change in appearance, slowly turning into someone that almost every player within the vicinity had recognized by now.
"Is that…"
"That's… Valyr, right?"
"He looks like the one in the forums…"
"Am I… dreaming…?"
Similar to the reactions everyone else had towards Valyr's appearance, Belial was also left at a loss for words when the young man appeared in front of them all of a sudden.
Looking at the three that came along with him, it was no surprise that the three were shocked as well, not expecting Valyr to appear in such a manner.
Though, before Belial and the others had the opportunity to calm themselves down and regain their bearings, the next words that came out of the young man's mouth caused them to feel even greater shock.
"I had to do some errands when I closed up shop for the first day, but who knew it'd end up taking longer than I thought it would?"
"In any case, I really am sorry for making you all wait."
"Because of that, I'll be opening up shop for tonight."
"But just this once."
…
"Woooooooo!!!"
"Yeah, baby!!! That's what I've been waiting for!!! That's what it's all about!!!"
"Let's goooo!!!"
Of course, with Valyr making such an announcement, it went without saying that all of the players waiting for the shop to open reacted positively, causing cheers to erupt throughout the area for quite some time.
Letting out a slight chuckle at the reactions he got, the young man thanked everyone for waiting for him before proceeding to open the shop for the players.
Telling everyone to wait near the entrance for the meantime, Valyr quickly tidied up the shop as he used the opportunity he gave himself to take a look at what was going on in the forums.
'The players wouldn't be loitering around here for no reason.' As this thought popped up in his mind, the young man quickly scrolled through the forum posts, eventually finding his answer in the form of a popular thread.
"There's a unique NPC in Daffors Village named Valyr…"
Reading through the post, Valyr gradually understood how the players interpreted his actions, specifically his actions of giving them more information on his items, as well as his actions of adding some of the players.
Surprisingly, the player who made the post speculated that he was some sort of guide NPC that would help players adjust to the world of Greater Beyond more easily, causing a brief chuckle to escape his mouth once he came to that part.
Reaching the end of the post, the player even talked about how it was possible for NPCs to join them in their dungeon runs, reminding everyone about Valyr's level when they had him on his friend list after that.
With that part of the post being laid out in a way that made it easy to put two and two together, even Valyr understood what the player was trying to say, shaking his head at the thought.
"Unfortunately for them, they have to give me a good reason to join them first," said Valyr to himself with a faint smirk. "And even then, I have no intentions of accepting any requests for the meantime."
With him finally getting the answer to the current situation that appeared, the young man spent a bit more time cleaning up the shop for opening before finally allowing the players to enter.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
With Valyr acting as both the attendant and the guardian presiding over the shop, the players began to enter the shop in an orderly manner, only to be greeted by the sight of various equipment and items wherever they looked.
If it was still the first day, almost all of these players would just be looking around to see what kind of items the shop offered, with some promising to come back when they had money to spend.
Though, with almost three days having passed since players first arrived at Greater Beyond, a good portion of them now had a bit of money saved up by fighting monsters, finally allowing them to purchase the items and equipment they sought to obtain.
At the same time, Valyr was finally able to make his first sale.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
Although he didn't have much experience as an attendant back when he owned a smithy in Clossbay City, Valyr was still able to manage everything in the shop thanks to the experience he accrued in his past life.
Then again, the fact that some players had picked up [Analysis] during the past couple of days also helped, reducing the need for him to use his own identification skill for the players when they needed more information on the item.
Like a well-oiled machine, Valyr continued to work throughout the night, only stopping by the time the sun peeked out of the horizon many hours later.
