'Eh?'

Expecting a barrier of mana to appear around the quadrant leader one last time in preparation for the third phase, Valyr was left at a loss for words after hearing the notification sounds.

After all, the momentum he had built up throughout the fight was something he could still make use of during the third and last phase.

Aside from that, the fight had enlightened him on many things, such as how he could use the quadrant leader's strength to deal damage back to itself.

If the fight between him and the east quadrant leader proceeded as if it were his fight against the north quadrant leader, then he was certain he would be able to make more use of the quadrant leader's attacks.

"I don't get it." Looking at the notifications he had received for a bit, Valyr shifted his attention to the east quadrant leader, whose corpse had now fallen to the ground.

Scratching the back of his head, he asked himself, "Does that mean fighting against the remaining two quadrant leaders could either last two phases or three phases?"

Though it wasn't too much of a problem to keep such a thing in mind, there was now a slightly higher chance for things to go wrong during the next couple of fights if that were the case.

After all, if Valyr were to expect that the fight between him and the quadrant leader would only last two phases, only for reality to tell him that it was actually three phases, then there would be a delay in his next actions.

Which was a prime opportunity his opponent could use to turn the tables around.

"Well, whatever." In the end, Valyr pushed the thought to the side as he decided to rest up and replenish the Shadow Energy and mana he had spent.

With that, he made his way back to the building where he scouted out the surroundings as he sent a message through the connection he had with the five Arx'has Boars.

'Head back to where we convened earlier,' said the young man through their connection, only to hear the faint footsteps of the boars echo throughout the vicinity not long after.

Roughly calculating how long it would take for the boars to return to where he summoned them in the first place, Valyr took out a mana potion from his spatial bracelet and downed its contents.

Storing the now empty vial back into his spatial bracelet, Valyr glanced back at the area where he fought against the north quadrant leader and let out a low sigh.

'I guess I'll take on the west quadrant leader next,' thought the young man, only to let his mind wander while continuing to wait for the boars.

During this time, he thought about many things, such as things he could improve during his next fight with the west quadrant leader.

Aside from that, he also thought about how much levels the five boars gained from the experience the quadrant leader had given him.

Due to how he had configured the XP sharing feature of the skill back when he still used it often, all of the XP that the quadrant leader dropped had gone straight to the boars instead.

Then again, even though the amount of XP the quadrant leader dropped was quite a lot for any being at the peak of Rank 3, for someone like Valyr, it didn't really matter much if he received it or not.

After all, he still had over 3 billion XP left unused.

Eventually, his thoughts began to wander towards how the four were doing after entering the trials of the Gates of Awakening.

Adding the time it took for him to head to the east quadrant, summon the boars and fight against the east quadrant leader, close to two hours had already passed since then.

"Yet, there's still no message from them whatsoever," murmured the young man to himself as he let out a sigh.

"Gork!"

"Gork! Gork!"

Hearing the sounds the boars were making at the bottom of the building, Valyr faintly smiled as he began to make his way to where the boars were.

However, just as he was about to jump down from the building yet again, he changed his thoughts at the very last minute and made his way to the quadrant leader's corpse instead.

'It would be difficult to grab it if the primitive humanoids began to roam around the area again.'

Sending a message to the boars to wait where they were for a short bit, the young man quickly jumped down from the building and activated a series of skills that boosted his movement speed to swiftly grab what he needed from the quadrant leader.

"Phew." Arriving in front of the quadrant leader's corpse in less than a minute, Valyr began to examine the entirety of its body in search for the item he aimed to obtain.

Watching some of the primitive humanoids the boars had corralled earlier start to trickle into the area once again, the young man let out a wide sigh of relief after finding the item lodged near the quadrant leader's shoulders.

Ding!

[You have made progress on a requirement for the quest: Traces of the Past.]

[Obtain knowledge regarding the last leader of humanity (2/4)]

Storing the shard-like item into his spatial bracelet for the meantime, a satisfied smile appeared on Valyr's face as he turned around and made his way to where the boars were.

Whoosh!

With the primitive humanoids still in the process of filling up the area the quadrant leader previously resided in, the young man did not encounter any trouble whatsoever along the way.

Add on the fact that he was moving at a speed that only quadrant leaders of the second phase could probably match, it did not take long for Valyr to arrive in front of the boars, whose sizes had considerably grown compared to the previous time he'd seen them.

"Gork! Gork!" Seeing the one that summoned them finally appear in front of them, the five boars let out snorts that expressed their joy and gratitude.

After all, while they were in the midst of corralling the primitive humanoids away from the quadrant leader, their stats had undergone a massive boost, allowing them to have an easier time in completing their tasks.

Smiling in response to the five, Valyr nodded as he began to convey his thoughts to the five. "With the east quadrant leader down, only the west and south quadrant leaders remain."

"We'll be heading to the west quadrant leader next, saving the south quadrant leader for last," said the young man, sending the five a series of thoughts that contained information on the quadrant leaders he had mentioned.

After obtaining sounds of affirmation from the boars in response, Valyr went ahead and dispelled the five boars for the meantime before activating [Traceless Slither], making use of the movement speed buffs that were still in effect.

Whoosh!

Of course, even though he was heading to the west quadrant at far greater speeds than before, he still took his time to get there, considering that his ultimate moves were still on cooldown.

Aside from that, while he was making his way to the west quadrant, he finally decided to send a message to the four through the party chat to ask how they were doing.

Unexpectedly, within a minute from him sending the message, the four had told him their progress in completing their trials.

Compared to the trials the Gates of Enlightenment had thrown at them, with some of them only needing to complete one trial and the others having to complete three, each and everyone of them seemed to have been thrown into the same trial format.

Unlike the Gates of Enlightenment's trials, the Gates of Awakening's trials started off at a moderate difficulty, with each subsequent trial being slightly harder than the previous one.

According to what the voice had told them, the further one got through the trials, the greater the rewards one would reap after becoming a member of the Gates of Awakening.

Of course, it was also during this conversation did Valyr say that he had postponed his attempt at the Gates of Awakening's trials, which undoubtedly surprised the four.

Nevertheless, with the four of them still going through the trials, the four could not ask the specifics as to why Valyr decided to stay behind, having to return their attention to the trials not long before their conversation was over.

'At the very least it seems like they're doing well.' Continuing to make his way to the west quadrant as a blur of Shadow Energy, a faint smile appeared on Valyr's face as he made his way past the hole that led him to the underground.

Then, a couple minutes of later, he stood on top of the building he stopped back then to gain information on the west quadrant leader.

Seeing that the west quadrant leader was still situated in the center of the west quadrant, Valyr let out a faint smile as he retrieved his arquebus from his spatial bracelet.

'Alright then.'

'It's time to do it all over again.'
