chapter-711
"…" For a while, Valyr did not know what to say after the monotonous voice was finished with its announcement.
In fact, the only words he could say was the name of the first trial itself, with multiple thoughts regarding the trial coursing through his mind.
"The Trial of Millennium Beings…"
With the name of the trial being related to a number like the previous one he had gone through, the young man was inclined to think that it was some sort of variant.
After all, a millennium was just a tenth of myriad.Nevertheless, with how the name was more or less up for interpretation, Valyr was still unsure whether or not thinking of the upcoming trial as his previous trial was the right thing to do.
For one, in his previous trial, he had to face a group of aberrations that not only grew in number, but also in level, in tier, and in rank.
All of that was only possible due to the fact that he had to face ten thousand of the aberrations in total.
With that being said, how far would the beings in the upcoming trial grow in strength with only a tenth of the number?
"Well, if there's one thing I'm probably sure of, it's the fact that the beings might mean the primitive humanoids," Valyr eventually muttered these words to himself.
With how the Gates of Enlightenment gave him a trial related to the aberrations, it made quite a lot of sense for the Gates of Awakening to throw a trial at him that had something to do with the denizens of the four city quadrants.
Of course, if he extended that thought process to the Gates of Transcendence…"I'd rather not that think about for now," muttered the young man, slightly shuddering at the thought of having to fight multiple of those powerful beings.
With that, he decided not to think about what the Trial of Millennium Beings might mean, wanting to instead prepare himself for what was about to come.
And so, he drank a mana potion in preparation, considering how a decent chunk of his mana was still empty from using [Extended Charge] before he entered the trial grounds.
Nevertheless, it did not take long for his mana pool to be completely filled, with the monotonous voice soon echoing through the barren lands a couple of minutes later.
'Though it may seem like the Trial of Millennium Beings could be considered a battle of attrition, it wholly depends on how the trial taker approaches fighting against these beings.'
'At the beginning of the trial, a thousand primitive humanoids of great strength shall appear in front of the trial taker, their proximity towards the trial taker more or less random.'
'The only goal the trial taker needs to take into consideration is the fact that they need to kill all one thousand primitive humanoids in order to proceed to the next trial.'
'If the trial taker succumbs to the wrath of the primitive humanoids or exclaim that they surrender, their opportunity to enter the Gates of Awakening shall be forfeited and they shall be returned to where they came from.'
'You have five minutes to prepare.'
"Huh. I guess the first trial's easier than I thought."
Listening to the explanation the monotonous voice had given him regarding the mechanics of the trial, Valyr inwardly let out a faint sigh of relief.
"Then again, with it being the first trial out of nine, I shouldn't get too complacent," said Valyr to himself not long after as he thought about how he would go about fighting against the primitive humanoids.
"Depending on the strength of the thousand primitive humanoids that appear, I'll either corral them into small groups before finishing them off, or kill them one by one from afar."
As these words left his mouth, a faint smile gradually crept up his lips, thinking about the massive damage he dealt before entering the trial grounds.
Thankfully, it did not take too long for the five minutes to pass, with the monotonous voice resounding throughout the trial grounds one last time.
'The first trial begins in 3… 2… 1…'
Whoosh!
At the very moment the monotonous voice was finished counting, a massive array of golden light appeared before Valyr, with some of them having popped up a fair distance behind him.
With each golden light giving off an aura that gradually grew more and more intimidating by the second, the young man looked at his surroundings for a bit before making up his mind.
"[Traceless Slither]!"
Swoosh!
As the golden lights gradually gave birth to bodies that Valyr was familiar with, the young man enveloped his entire body in Shadow Energy before moving away from the array without hesitation, distancing himself from the primitive humanoids as much as possible.
With the trial grounds having no obstacles whatsoever, it did not take long for the young man to arrive at a distance that allowed him to feel somewhat safe, dispelling the movement skill as he turned to look back at the humanoids.
Surprisingly, a considerable portion of the golden lights had already disappeared as primitive humanoids that radiated terrifying levels of strength had taken over their places.
"You know… these guys kind of remind me of the quadrant leaders, but less perfect in appearance." Staring at these primitive humanoids from afar, Valyr felt like the aura they radiated was quite familiar.
Curious as to why that was the case, the young man decided to use his identification skill on one of these empowered primitive humanoids.
Ding!

"They are kind of like the quadrant leaders, but somewhat stronger." Valyr nodded in understanding.
Closing his screen, he then let out a slight chuckle as he took out an item from his spatial bracelet.
"Well then."
"Since I'm up against these kinds of beings..."
"I guess it's time to bring out the big guns."
"Literally."
