"Hmm…"

Continuing to stare at the barren spot within the center of the ruins, Valyr began to ponder over the reasons as to why he began to feel like the spot was beckoning him to come closer.

Then again, such a moment of ponderation did not last for long as a thought from the past eventually surfaced in his mind.

'If I remember correctly, I heard someone say something to me back when I headed into that place,' murmured Valyr to himself inwardly, rummaging the memories specific to that thought.

As far as he could remember, he was flying through the center of the ruins with the help of one of his movement skills.

Then, while keeping in mind the kind of enemies he and the others would face once they reached the center, he eventually came across the barren spot.

Being surrounded by the barrier, the young man held some doubts that he would be able to pass through it since the beings around it all seemed to avoid it.

Though, in the end, he trusted his guts and jump in.

Once there, Valyr found a statue at the center of the barren spot.

Specifically, a statue of the last leader of humanity, Vaughn Darkstar.

Because of the statue, one of the objectives for Ryvrthe's quests had been completed, which Valyr took as a welcome surprise.

However, just as he was about to head back to where the others were at the time, he then heard a voice speak out to him.

'To seek what you wish to obtain, ascend past the Gates of Enlightenment and enter the ranks of the Gates of Awakening.'

'Until then, the world's mysteries shall remain shrouded before your gaze.'

"Haah… I think I have an idea." Finally recalling the exact words the voice had told him at the time, Valyr more or less had a strong idea of why he felt the feeling of beckoning.

'Since I'm now a member of the Gates of Awakening, I'm now eligible to obtain the thing that I wish to seek… whatever that may be.'

'As for the second line, I guess it could be interpreted in a way where me obtaining it earlier would be better,' thought the young man to himself, nodding after feeling like he had deduced the somewhat cryptic words correctly.

"The question is… should I grab it while the two are preoccupied with fighting the feral humans?"

As this question came to mind, Valyr stood up to get a better view of where Hal and Vera were.

Looking around the vicinity for a while, he eventually found the two working together as they fought against a group of feral humans with considerable ease.

Feeling a slight hint of satisfaction at how quick the two had changed their minds, the young man then returned his attention back at where the barren spot was.

Still sensing the feeling of beckoning being emanated by the barren spot, Valyr scratched the back of his head for a bit as the gears in his mind continued to turn.

In the end, he decided to save his journey to the barren spot for a later time, reminding himself that he had yet to obtain his other remaining rewards from the Gates of Awakening.

"In terms of importance, the rewards take precedence," murmured Valyr to himself. "Aside from the fact that I don't know what I'd actually obtain once I get to the barren spot, it's not like it's going anywhere either."

"Then again, the same could be said for my rewards from the Gates of Awakening." The young man chuckled, feeling like his words could be represented as him being somewhat hypocritical.

"Well, whatever. I'll think about it a bit further after the two come back."

Recalling how he had yet to finish his meal from earlier, Valyr went ahead and reheated the food he made before grabbing himself a plate of food.

Then, watching the two fight against the feral humans from afar, the young man savored each and every bite he took as a faint smile adorned his face.

Surprisingly, the duo worked off each other's skills quite well.

Acting as the vanguard, Hal would utilize his sword and his Intent to keep the feral humans a fair distance away from them.

On the other hand, Vera would act as both support and rear damage dealer, slinging magic spells here and there to reduce the burden that Hal had to face.

With the two gradually becoming more and more in sync as their fight continued, the two eventually killed all of the feral humans in their vicinity, causing satisfied smiles to appear on their faces as they made their way back to the temporary camp.

By the time the two of them returned to the camp, Valyr greeted them with piping hot plates of food as he told them the things that he had noticed while watching them fight.

Using that as a basis, they then talked about how the three of them would be able to work together as a group, which would allow them to show greater combat efficiency once they found themselves surrounded by feral humans.

While they were on that topic, Valyr revealed the arquebus he had shown to the two back then in greater detail, reminding both Hal and Vera about the terrifyingly strong weapon he had used back when they fought against the quadrant leader for the first time.

Briefly mentioning the various upgrades he had done to the arquebus while he was in the Gates of Awakening, the young man then did a demonstration of the weapon at play, instructing the two on how to arm the arquebus for firing.

Then, after setting his sights on a specific feral human near their vicinity, he then let the firearm do its thing, shooting out a bullet that tore the feral human Valyr targeted into shreds.

Bang!

Unsurprisingly, both Hal and Vera were left at a complete loss for words after seeing the destruction such a simple weapon could deal.

Though, after glancing at each other for a bit, they both knew that even though it was a weapon that even a Rank 0 class holder could easily handle…

Valyr was the main reason why the weapon could unleash such terrifying amounts of damage.
