903 Wells' Letter
"Now that I think about it… I should really get a place for me and the two." Walking up the door that led to the place where he, Wells, and Edward were staying, it only dawned on Valyr at that moment that they did not have a proper place to live in.
Though the Imperial Production Guild had provided the inn for them to stay in for the meantime, the young man had a feeling that this setting was just temporary at best, considering how they did not ask him nor Wells at the time for any rent whatsoever.
Then again, even if the Imperial Production Guild did not mind that he and the other two stayed there for a far longer time, Valyr still wanted to have a place he could call his own.
Especially with the things he planned on doing now that he was out of the inheritance."At times like this, I kind of miss the smithy I used to own back at Clossbay," muttering these words to himself, Valyr gradually opened the door, faintly expecting to see both Edward and Wells on the other side.
After all, even though he asked Julian for their current whereabouts, it was asked more out of safety and not out of actual curiosity as to where they were.
"Though the war is currently ongoing, it's not like the two would be drafted as part of the—"
Just as Valyr was expecting to be greeted back by the two with wide smiles on their faces, he was instead greeted by the sight of a room that had no one in it.
Slightly confused at first, Valyr checked if he'd entered the wrong room, returning to look at the number written on the door.
Then, seeing as he had indeed entered the right room, that confusion somewhat intensified as he returned to the room he just left.
"Huh." Recalling the words he uttered just now, a wry smile appeared on his face as he took a look at his surroundings.Though the items he, Wells, and Edward were using were left in their rightful places, a couple layers of dust covered all of them, prompting Valyr to realize that they'd been away from the room for far longer than he initially thought.
"I guess Wells brought Edward along to buy a couple of stuff he needs." Looking around the room for a bit more to familiarize himself once again, Valyr soon noticed that there were things in the room that hadn't been there before he left for the inheritance.
Eventually, after looking around the room for a bit, he sat down on a nearby chair as he let out a faint sigh.
Coincidentally, he took notice of a folded piece of paper on the dining table, seeing as it was not as covered in layers of dust like the others.
Picking up the folded piece of paper, a faint smile soon appeared on Valyr's face after noticing that the paper was addressed to him.
Opening it up, he was soon greeted by Wells' handwriting, talking about the things that happened to Edward and the latter while he was away in the inheritance.
"Counting from the day you entered the Four Pillars' Inheritance, it's been around six months since then," wrote Wells in the letter. "During those six months, both Edward and I have made great strides in our combat prowess."
After that, Wells explained that he had already ascended to Rank 3, he also told Valyr about his subclass in greater detail, briefly mentioning through the letter that they only talked about it in passing.
"Now that I think about it, I haven't mentioned my subclass before you left, huh," wrote Wells, prompting Valyr to imagine the man smiling as he wrote it. "Well, as I've mentioned before, it's a subclass that synergizes well with the True Spear Scholar class."
"It's called the Lesser Spear Saint," read Valyr through Wells' letter. "It's an Epic subclass that gives me a lot of stats I need to control the spear more smoothly. According to Elder Noel, there's a chance for me to evolve it into the Legendary variant at some point, the Spear Saint subclass."
Talking a bit more about how his strength improved in the past six months, Wells then moved onto Edward in the letter, mentioning how the kid he picked up was an unprecedented prodigy.
"Thanks to Elder Noel's help, Edward was able to grasp a Mythic class related to the spear," wrote the man in the letter. "On top of that, Elder Noel had also given him a Legendary grade subclass related to the spear."
"With that combination, he was able to fight toe to toe with me while still being at Rank 2." Reading this part of the letter, Valyr let out a faint chuckle. "Now that we're at the same class rank, he's already stronger than me by a large margin, mostly due to the fact that he's already comprehended an Intent revolving around the spear."
"But that doesn't mean I won't give up that easily."
"Hmm… It seems Edward is finally taking on a similar path to what he took back then." Thinking about the things that were currently happening outside, Valyr briefly thought back to the Edward he knew from the past, immediately feeling that the timing more or less matched up.
"However, because of the help I gave him, he ended up learning the spear first rather than the sword," muttered Valyr not long after, letting out a bit of laughter at the thought.
Continuing to read through the letter, Valyr eventually read that both Wells and Edward were drafted to participate in the war against the orcs.
However, even though they boasted great amounts of strength for their rank, they were relegated to the rear-lines as defense for those that participated in the war as buffers and healers, lacking the strength necessary to fight in the frontlines.

"Then again, Edward has begun making a name for himself in the battlefield, gradually earning the recognition of others through his combat prowess." As he got to this part of the letter, a slight grin crept up on Valyr's face.
"Surprisingly, he also has a knack for commanding armies through the battlefield. In fact, one of the commanders had given him a squad of 30 to lead just recently. Is this the reason why you picked him up back then?"
Reading the question that Wells wrote to him, Valyr let out a slight chuckle, missing the presence of both Edward and Wells in the room. "Well, if you were here, I would've told you that I didn't know he had that ability."
"Even though I actually did."
Eventually, the young man reached the end of the letter, with Wells mentioning their current whereabouts in the battlefield as they waged war against the orcs.
"By the time you get back here, make sure to message me as soon as you can," wrote Wells, prompting the young man to open up the system's chat function.
"After all, I gotta tell Edward the good news as well."
Ding!
Having finally finished reading through the entire letter, Valyr soon found Wells' name on his friend list, immediately sending a message through the chat that he had finally returned from the inheritance.
Seeing as his friend had read the message he sent back, the young man felt a bit of excitement as he decided to clean up the place now that he was gonna stay here for longer.
Around a few minutes into his cleaning session, Valyr received a response from Wells, telling him that he had relayed the message to Edward.
Expecting a positive response from the man, the young man was instead greeted by a message that immediately soured his mood.
"We'd really love to come back there right now and chat with you about the things we've done while we were away from one another, but unfortunately, we can't really do that so easily," said Wells in his message.
"Edward and I are currently tasked to fight against the orcs near an important landmark of theirs. The commander said that Edward would be promoted if he proved through this task that his commanding skills weren't just for show."
"I guess the reunion isn't gonna happen any time soon, then." Letting out a long exhale once he was done reading through the message, Valyr replied back to the message Wells sent, wishing both of them the best of luck and that they would stay safe.
Closing the screen he'd brought up, the young man looked at the progress he'd made so far, only to let out a sigh once more sometime later.
Deciding to finish what he'd begun, he eventually returned the room to how it looked before within an hour or so, ordering a light meal from the inn after he was done cleaning.
Then, taking a quick shower to remove the dirt and sweat off his body, Valyr leisurely ate the food he ordered before making his way to his part of the room.
Lying down on his bed, the young man contemplated over the things he'd done within the couple of weeks or so he was in the inheritance, causing him to let out a sigh as he shook his head and closed his eyes.
"It's not like they'd go away by the time I fall asleep. I should rest for now." With that in mind, Valyr pushed all of his lingering thoughts to the side for the meantime, eventually drifting off to dreamland as he fell into a deep sleep.
