chapter-938
"...Huh."
By the time Valyr was done reading through the last set of notifications, the young man became silent as the gears in his mind turned, only to go over all of the notifications once
more.
For some reason, even though what the notifications told him were as clear as the other notifications he'd gone through before, Valyr felt confusion rather than understanding as more questions popped up in his mind than answers.
Trying to understand the notifications he'd received in detail, Valyr began to go through them one by one in his mind. 'For starters, the final skill incorporated the basic spear skills I've only used in the beginning of my journey.'[Pierce], [Sweep], [Parry], and [Cut]. These four skills were what Valyr relied on back when he was still in Astarto Village, even going so far as to make headway into the Combat branch of his Technology Tree to improve them.
Though he'd upgraded all of them to Rare rarity either through skill keys or the Realm of Myriad Experiences, that did not change the fact that Valyr immediately relied on the [Serpent Spear Combat Style] and its evolutions once he got them.
With that, he felt a sense of relief in the fact that the skills that served him well at the start of his journey had found a way to incorporate itself into his current repertoire.
At the same time, a hint of melancholy washed over him since losing the four skills meant that he had lost a bit of flexibility in combat.
'Then again, it's not like I've been using them that often lately,' thought the young man to himself, moving onto the next few notifications. 'Nowadays, it's either I use [Four Paths Azure Spear Arts] or [Four Paths Azure Magic Arts] when fighting.'
Reading the notification that said that [Nine Extremities Combat Style] had also been fused into [Four Paths Azure Spear Arts], Valyr did not know what to feel.
[Nine Extremities Combat Style] was the skill he'd obtained after putting in the effort to raise multiple weapon skills to Uncommon grade back in the Four Pillars' Inheritance.Yet, just like the four basic spear skills from before, the young man did not have the opportunity to use them, considering how he mainly used combat skills related to either Shadow Energy or Azure Energy.
'It's a slight shame that I didn't get to use it once,' muttered Valyr to himself inwardly, scratching the back of his head as he wrapped his head around why those skills were fused into his main spear skill.
'I'm guessing it has something to do with the name of the current class.'
Going through the remaining notifications, Valyr gradually felt that his hypothesis seemed to be correct, considering how the name of the subclass had switched from him mainly dealing with magic and spears, to one that just mentioned war.
"I'm guessing this [Four Paths Azure War Arts] is now a skill that allows me to use any of the nine weapons?" asked the young man to himself, feeling a hint of excitement at the thought.
"If that really is the case... then it makes me curious as to what the subclass at Legendary grade would have in store."
After all, upgrading his previous subclass to its current rarity alone had not only given him a strong summoning skill, but also a powerful elemental manipulation skill, as well as a strong combat skill that could be used on multiple weapon types.
'I'm not sure about this transcendental technique thing, though.' Taking in a few deep breaths to compose himself, Valyr eventually found himself reading the final notification on the list.
Bringing up the description of the newly improved [Four Paths Azure War Arts] before him, Valyr rummaged through his treasure trove of memories in hopes of finding out more about transcendental techniques.
'I've heard of Pseudo-Special Skills and Special Skills before,' inwardly muttered Valyr to himself. 'I've also heard of ultimate and sealed techniques before, but this is the first time I've come across one that's called transcendental.'
'I wonder if any of the rankers had one? Perhaps the titled rankers got their hands on transcendental techniques?' As these questions lingered in his mind, the description of the skill finally appeared before him.
Ding!
Reading through [Four Paths Azure War Arts], Valyr was somewhat surprised to see that all of the techniques on it were more or less the same as what they were back when the skill was still called [Four Paths Azure Spear Arts].
However, unlike before, the techniques contained within [Four Paths Azure War Arts] now felt less restricted to him, prompting him to recall his previous thoughts of it being usable on other weapons aside from the spear.
Aside from that, the techniques now cost more Azure Energy than before, which he thought was an equal exchange after seeing that all of them now also had lower cooldowns.
'Well, at least there's no problem in adjusting to the new skill,' thought the young man to himself, making a mental note to forge other weapons suitable for the skill later on as he found himself staring at the new technique added to the skill.
<Transcendental Technique: Four Paths Azure Liberation - The Four Azure Paths correspond to the Four Elements. The Nine Forms correspond to the nine basic combat styles. With both working in conjunction, a myriad number of styles are born.
By sacrificing a great chunk of Azure Energy and mana, the user can temporarily enter a higher state of power for 3 minutes, assimilating the power of Liberation.
While wielding the power of Liberation, the user can choose to adopt a certain concept of combat and use it to its fullest. These concepts have their own sets of passives and techniques that the user can take advantage of.
After the power of Liberation has been used, the user shall enter a temporary state of weakening for the next 5 minutes, reducing the user's stats by 50%. Cooldown: 1 day. Cost: 80% of the user's Azure Energy, 80% of the user's mana.
Current concepts unlocked: [Unfettered Spear]>
Reading through the description of the transcendental technique, Valyr immediately had a few thoughts in his mind.
"In terms of cost, it's similar to [Descent of the True Wyvern]," he said to himself, continuing to look at the technique with a pensive expression. "However, unlike that skill, there seems to be no way to reduce its cost and cooldown time."
"Then again, with how much it costs to use it, it's bound to be incredibly strong," continued the young man, commanding the system if he could view the techniques he'd gain access to if he were to enter the state of Liberation.
Surprisingly, the system acquiesced, showing him all of the techniques under the [Unfettered Spear] concept he'd gained from evolving his subclass.
Getting over the happiness of his discovery, Valyr soon began to read through them, only for him to realize something by the time he was done.
At first, he thought [Four Paths Azure War Arts] was just a simple upgrade that allowed him to make use of the techniques he used before on other weapons. He thought that that was all
there was to the skill.
However, after reading through the description of [Unfettered Spear], he realized that [Four Paths Azure War Arts] was actually a means to an end, a stepping stone to a greater realm, a gateway to a higher level of power.
And of course, [Unfettered Spear] was that higher level of power.
Ding!
Techniques accessible through [Four Paths Azure Liberation: Unfettered Spear]:
<Passive: Unfettered Spear - Transforms the user's normal attacks into attacks that deal damage equivalent to 250% of the user's Attack stat while in Liberation. Landing five hits on the same enemy allows the user to deal damage equivalent to 400% of their Attack stat.
Each landed hit replenishes the user's Azure Energy by 1%.>
<1st Technique: Phoenix Piercing the Skies - The phoenix reigns supreme across the skies. However, if there ever comes a day the skies retaliate, the phoenix shall surely pierce through
it.
Allows the user to thrust out with their spear at breakneck speeds, dealing damage equivalent to 500% of their Attack stat to a foe. Reduces the foe's movement speed by 50% for 5 seconds. Cost: 5% of the user's Azure Energy.>

Temporarily stuns foes affected by the parry for 2 seconds. Cost: 5% of the user's Azure Energy.>
<4th Technique: Dragon Cutting the World - The dragon reigns supreme across the heaven and earth. No space is safe when the dragon decides to unleash its might, a might that even
instills fear to those that transcend mortality.
Allows the user to slash their spear down with both unyielding power and speed, dealing damage equivalent to 800% of the user's Attack stat to all foes within a 3 meter radius around the conjured blade. Cost: 10% of the user's Azure Energy.>
<Ultimate Technique: Spear of Liberation - When the Four Azure Paths converge around the spear, the true feeling of Liberation is invoked.
Allows the user to rain down multiple spears of energy from the skies, dealing damage equivalent to 500% of the user's Attack stat to all foes within a 30 meter radius for 10 seconds. Temporarily stuns foes struck by the spear for 1 second.
Those struck by three spears in a row receive doubled damage from the next spear they
receive.
Removes the Liberation state from the user. Increases the penalty from a 50% reduction to an 80% reduction. Cost: 30% of the user's Azure Energy.>
By the time Valyr was done reading through the techniques he'd use through [Unfettered Spear], he was left at an utter loss for words from the sheer might the techniques contained. From reading the descriptions alone, the young man could already imagine himself using the skills to the fullest in the battlefield, consistently dishing out damage that was comparable to even his strongest ultimate techniques.
'Though each skill usage consumes a percent of Azure Energy rather than an exact amount, I could easily replenish it with my normal attacks.'
Feeling great excitement from the fact that he could use skills whenever he wanted, the young
man immediately began to imagine what it would be if he were to use his stat-boosting skills
on top of that.
'What if I had [Descent of the True Wyvern] active? What if I had [Primeval Immolation]
active on top of that?'
With these thoughts lingering in his mind, Valyr had the great urge to try out this new skill for
himself to get a better idea of what it was capable of.
However, as if the heavens were telling him to use the skill at a better time...
A pained cry from a familiar voice echoed from where Noel and Sellifer were.
