Chapter 385: Black Phoenix Mountain Range
Huff…
Huff…
My name is Mengde, and I have survived.
Squatting on the ground, the middle-aged black man’s chest heaved greatly, his eyes still filled with fear.A yellow, featherless duck only the size of that red-furred monster’s calves was chasing after it. Finally, with a great leap, it jumped onto the neck of the red-furred monster, landing punch after punch on it. After running a few more steps, the red-furred monster slowed down, finally falling to the ground with a loud crash.
“Oh, god, I’m actually still alive. Thank heavens, thank my grandmother for protecting me from the heavens.” The black man at the side let out a sigh of relief, patting his chest.
This is an aboriginal? Gao Peng was surprised that he had actually managed to meet a living aboriginal human here.
Did the little lion not say that the humans in the Black Fog World had all fled? “Hey, didn’t you say there were no more humans in the Black Fog World? What is this then?”
Somehow, Da Zi had managed to secretly run behind Gao Peng. It poked out its face and smiled coldly. “To think you would dare lie to Gao Peng! I think this lion must have ill intentions.”
“Da Zi is right,” Flamy added. Then it chuckled as it found a spot to rest, looking as though it was finding a good seat to watch the show.
“This isn’t a human from the Black Fog World,” said the Desolate Frost Lion calmly.“Even if I’m this far away, I can still easily smell the same scents as yours from their bodies. In other words, they come from the same world as you.”
Gao Peng was stunned. From the same world?! How was—how was this possible?
Over at the labyrinth, the entrance was on strict lockdown. Normal people would have no way of getting through, let alone this group of black men. Unless the personnel were blind, they wouldn’t have let such a group of eye-catching people pass.
“That leaves only one other possibility.” The little lion’s expression was stern. “The Spatial Rift at the Desolate Labyrinth isn’t the only one between your world and the Black Fog World.”
After hearing the lion’s words, Gao Peng’s expression changed, as though he had thought of something.
Could it be the Spatial Rift in Lusaka in Africa? Gao Peng squinted as he considered this possibility.
Africa and the Huaxia region were separated by over ten thousand miles, and this was before the Cataclysm. After the Cataclysm, the Earth had grown larger and the distance had become even greater, at least tens of thousands of miles.
But the distance between Spatial Rifts didn’t need to be that far. Perhaps the Lusaka rift and the Desolate Labyrinth rift weren’t that far apart. If that were the case…
Gao Peng’s eyes sparkled. They could make use of these Spatial Rifts to form a new trade route!
Ever since the Cataclysm, because of lengthy distances, exchanges between major regions of the world had gradually decreased. Even if they existed, they were usually done via video communication.
Furthermore, travel between regions had gradually become something only possible for the highest level of monster trainers. For ordinary citizens, heading to other major regions was an extravagant wish. Naturally, there would have been many limitations on trade as well.
But if the distances between the Spatial Rifts were much shorter in the Black Fog World, they could create a commercial trade route here. The Southern Sky Group’s products could then be sold far away in Africa…
It was unexpected that there would be such a discovery from this trip. Without him even realizing it, Gao Peng’s gaze towards these black men suddenly became extremely kind and amiable.
“Brothers, are you hurt anywhere?” Gao Peng asked in fluent English.
Question marks appeared on the black men’s faces, as they had all thought that Gao Peng was an aboriginal from this world.
“Oh my God, could it be that English really is the universal language?” exclaimed one of them in a hushed tone. His face was full of shock and disbelief.
Gao Peng’s face twitched. It’s not just English, I can even speak Mandarin.
After rescuing the group of them, Gao Peng asked them where they had come from. Apparently, a thousand miles away in the West of the Desolate Labyrinth was the ruins of a city, and within the ruins was a Spatial Rift.
That Spatial Rift led to the Lusaka base city.
A thousand miles, muttered Gao Peng. That distance wasn’t that short but definitely not considered long—at least compared to the tens of thousands of miles on Earth, this was extremely close.
They could wait until after they got back from the Black Phoenix Mountain Range before making plans to open a route to Lusaka.
The group of men gave their thanks to Gao Peng over and over as they left, telling Gao Peng that he had to visit them in Lusaka if he had the chance. They would definitely give him their thanks properly then.
“Do you know about the city ruins there? Are there any strong monsters nearby?”
“I know. That used to be a human city, but it was left in ruins after. If you want to open a route along that direction, it shouldn’t be too hard. There aren’t many strong monsters on the way there. Around here, the stronger monsters are gathered around the Black Phoenix Mountain Range and Bloodtooth Lake. These two areas aren’t in that direction.”
“Actually, the Desolate Labyrinth is actually a dangerous area as well,” said the Desolate Frost Lion in a prideful manner.
The humans were definitely not fools. If there was a dangerous area nearby, they definitely wouldn’t have chosen that place to build a city.
Gao Peng just quietly nodded his head. Ignorance was bliss. The lion’s life was already tough enough, so Gao Peng decided not to burst its bubble.
Gao Peng then went over to the bodies of the Labyrinth Watchers on the ground and put them inside Silly’s personal dimension, as he had no intention for these to go to waste.
Currently, Silly’s personal dimension was at least 1,000 to 1,300 square feet, akin to the size of a small warehouse. It was more than sufficient for housing a carcass.
Leaving the exit of the labyrinth, the Black Phoenix Mountain range was just around a thousand miles to the north. North of the labyrinth was a desolate plain covered in white grass. Each stalk of grass was six feet tall, and they swayed like waves as a gentle wind blew through them. They cut through the sea of grass, like a sharp little knife grazing across the surface of skin.
Rumble— Ahead of them, the sea of grass was tumbling, as though something was cruising through it at a high speed.
“Da Zi.” Gao Peng had Da Zi release its Lord Halo.
Under normal circumstances, a Lord-tier monster wouldn’t release its halo, because maintaining it would require the expenditure of the body’s internal elemental energy. But under other circumstances, when encountering other monsters, releasing the Lord Halo would serve the purpose of sending out a warning to other organisms.
The deep purple halo stained all the plants within a radius of a hundred yards. The white blades of grass were all dyed with a layer of pale purple light. The air was filled with a thin layer of electric elemental energy. Sensing the aura of a lord, nearby monsters hurriedly fled, avoiding plenty of possible conflicts.
Chichichi. The Treasure Sniffing Rodent as it excitedly sniffed the ground. Its large nose was plastered to the ground and twitching non-stop. After a moment, it ran back with a red block of wood in its mouth, running in front of Gao Peng.
In the next moment, it vanished again. The next time it came back, it returned with a piece of yellow rock in its mouth instead.
Heading north, three days passed this way in the blink of an eye. After the white sea of grass, they crossed an area with a thousand creeks. Gradually, a black mountain range began to appear on the horizon.
The peaks and valleys of the mountain range stretched on and on, like the broad back of a large black dragon, with no end in sight.
Looking at the top of the mountain range from afar, there seemed to be a thin layer of flames burning. It looked like it was a volcano. Perhaps that was the reason why this was called the Black Phoenix Mountain Range.
“I only know that the fruits come from the Black Phoenix Mountain Range, but where exactly, I’m not sure,” said the Desolate Frost Lion regretfully as it smacked its lips.
“It’s all right. The locals living on the mountain range should definitely know,” chuckled Gao Peng.
