Chapter 767: Mountain-Conqueror Grass
From that day on, Dumby fell in love with performance art—this sentence was said secretly by Goldie.
Somehow, the news traveled to all the groups of familiars. Even the outsiders of the tribe had heard about it.
They could often see the king’s skeletal familiar crouching down in the distance for some strange reason and observing living things that were about to die or take their last breath.
This behavior frightened them.No one dared to say in Dumby’s presence that they detested it, but they felt that Dumby would attract bad luck. Death accompanied it wherever it went.
It was like the harbinger of death, just like the Specter Crow.
As Dumby observed death, it also got on the right track in respect to the speed at which it understood Death precepts.
Essentially, its understanding of Death precepts would increase by 0.01 percent every day.
It would only need 99 days to hit one percent.
Once the Death Godhood was completely formed, it would be able to cast God’s Altar and reach the apex to become a God.
The countdown to Dumby becoming a God had already begun. One by one, the rest of the familiars were also inspired. They completely devoured the Divine Essence and the God-tier Meat Essence that Gao Peng had handed out.
It was a pity that apart from Dumby, there were no other familiars who had attained Quasi God Great Perfection at that moment.
Da Zi had the highest level after Dumby but was only at Level 99.
At the same time, Gao Peng also decided to take out a part of the leftover Meat Essence to distribute as a reward to the elders and some of the younger prodigies of the Li Tribe who had outstanding talent.
Most of this leftover Meat Essence was made from the blood and flesh of demons that were at or below the Saint tier.
They were no longer of much use to Gao Peng’s familiars. Only Meat Essence at the Quasi God-tier or a higher tier could have an effect on them, so the Meat Essence was just perfect for nurturing the younger generation.
In the tribe’s hall , Gao Peng welcomed the younger generation of prodigies. As he looked at these young and energetic boys and girls, Gao Peng couldn’t help but feel melancholy at the passing of time. He had truly aged.
When he counted in detail, he himself was already more than thirty years old. This was an age at which others on Earth Star would call him ‘uncle.’
Once upon a time, he had been as young as them, too.
Gao Peng sighed.
These younger people didn’t know why the king had sighed. They even thought that it might have been because he wasn’t satisfied with them. Each and every one of them were so frightened that they were trembling.
“Call for all of your familiars so that I can take a look.”
“King, our familiars are outside.”
“They’re too big in size. We can’t bring them into the palace.”
Seeing that the king didn’t seem as difficult to get along with as they had imagined, these youths instinctively grew slightly bolder and also gathered the courage to speak to Gao Peng.
“How big can they be?” Gao Peng smiled.
Speaking of big familiars, Stripey immediately came to his mind. Now that he mentioned it, he wasn’t up to standards as a master. Although the familiars had no sense of time in the familiar space ,and Stripey wouldn’t feel lonely either, as a master, he himself was nevertheless very lacking.
“King, Yan Wu’s familiar is the largest familiar in our tribe.”
When he walked outside from the hall, Gao Peng finally saw the Li Tribe’s largest familiar that they had been talking about.
It turned out that this familiar had been staying in the mountains behind the tribe. Not many monsters lived in the mountains in the back. As this place was filled with bare rock cliffs, very few people usually went there.
In the heart of the mountains in the back, a massive creature whose height was nearly equal to that of the mountain peaks was leaning against the cliff. It turned its head to gaze at Gao Peng and the rest.
This monster looked a little like a ginseng root that had multiplied in size.
It was narrow at the bottom and wide at the top, with countless roots which making up its legs. Among the roots, there were three legs that were as slender and long as wooden stilts supporting it.
There was a human head made of wood on the front of its head. The rims of its vacant eyes were lined with feelers. It was looking blankly and helplessly at the throng of people that had suddenly swarmed around it, a little alarmed and also a little delighted.
“Master, you’re here to see me…”
The massive creature that was as tall as a mountain peak climbed down like a child as an innocent smile appeared on its face.
“This is the king of our tribe. Make your movements smaller. Don’t scare the king.” The master of this massive creature hastily reprimanded his familiar through their Blood Contract.
“Okay…”
The gigantic creature was a bit aggrieved, but nevertheless very obedient and nodded vigorously. Just like that, it sprawled on the ground and didn’t move at all. Only the fluttering feelers around its eyes showed that it was in fact a restless fellow.
While this large creature wasn’t physically as large as Stripey, to ordinary monsters, it was a super-giant.
After all, not many monsters could physically reach the level of a mountain peak.
Not all monsters would become physically larger following an increase in their level. Usually, all monsters were less than 300 feet in height.
Gao Peng looked up to examine this huge fellow’s attributes.
[Monster Name]: Mountain-Conqueror Grass (Gigantic Form)
[Monster Level]: Level 75 (Overlord-tier)
[Monster Attribute]: Wood/Earth
[Monster Grade]: Perfect/Perfect
[Monster Skills]: Symbiotic Growth Level 7, Catabolism Level 5, Extraordinary Regeneration Level 6
[Monster Condition]: Healthy (Nervous)
[Monster Weakness]: Fire
[Monster Description]: A rare catabolizing organism that has a height that is a hundred times larger than most of its kind. It has a shy personality and likes to count the stars. Its favorite thing to eat is loose yellow sand, and it hates the smell of rich black soil.
“I’ll find you a companion, all right?” Gao Peng said to this Mountain-Conqueror Grass.
The Mountain-Conqueror Grass tilted its head, its large eyes blinking.
“You guys will probably become friends.” Gao Peng spread open his right hand, and the air beside the Mountain-Conqueror Grass warped.
Thereafter, a colossus descended from the sky.
With a boom, the ground shook.
Smoke and dust rumbled and surged into the sky.
Amid the pervading smoke and dust, a pitch-black face was faintly discernible.
“Gao Peng! Did you miss me?!” Stripey’s dim-witted voice could be heard.
Gao Peng’s eyes curved into crescents as he gently replied to Stripey, “You’re right. I missed our little Stripey.”
“Hmph. No way am I little Stripey. I’m huge Stripey!” A spider claw that was even larger and more majestic than a skyscraper moved slightly to the front, causing the mountains to shake and the earth to tremble.
The rest of the familiars had gone to the back to hide a long time ago. They feared that they would be accidentally affected by the aftermath.
Which one of them would be able to withstand it if they were stepped on?
“Stripey, you seem to have grown taller,” Da Zi said, flying to Stripey’s shoulder.
“Ah! How could I have grown taller again?” Stripey was extremely vexed. It thought, “Height isn’t something I can control myself either. I’m already tall enough. If I get any taller, I won’t be able to see Gao Peng, even if I look down.”
Flowing Light raised its head indifferently. These two childish fellows!
“Stripey, let me introduce a companion to you. Its name is Mountain-Conqueror Grass. Although its not as tall as you, it has even fewer friends than you do.”
“He has even fewer friends than I do?” Stripey was stunned. It gazed sympathetically at the short Mountain-Conqueror Grass beside it. If that was the case, the creature was truly too pitiful.
“Don’t worry; in the future, I will be your big wok*. I will teach you to read and write! I am none other than the most cultured spider in our village,” Stripey vowed solemnly to the Mountain-Conqueror Grass.
“Big… big wok?” The Mountain-Conqueror Grass was at a loss for words.
“Yes, big wok!” Stripey nodded in satisfaction.
Perhaps it was because it saw a shadow of itself in this little fellow, or maybe it was because the two of them had a lot in common in terms of their physical size, but Stripey gained one more lackey in the Li Tribe.
As for the trainer of the Mountain-Conqueror Grass, of course he was very agreeable to what had happened. This Mountain-Conqueror Grass wasn’t his only familiar. It was worthwhile for him to be able to use the Mountain-Conqueror Grass to gain the king’s favor.
*Big wok (大锅) sounds similar to the Mandarin phrase for “big brother” (大哥)
