Mr Fu, I Really Love You
-
chapter-289
Wen Moshen was dressed formally in a white suit. It was in stark contrast to Lin Chen's solemn black suit. He looked gentlemanly—refined and dashing, as he smiled politely at guests.
Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a slender figure walking into the ballroom. Wen Moshen tilted his head, and his profound gaze fell on Lin Nuan.
Their eyes met, and his deep dark eyes seem to be hesitating and holding back intense emotions that couldn't be revealed.
Across the many tables, Lin Nuan gave Wen Moshen a slight nod. It was a solemn gesture on her part as he symbolized her past and how much love she had dedicated to him during her youth.
Wen Moshen was history, and she had since obtained closure for her unrequited love. She would bury her emotions deep within her heart, as a reminder to herself of how courageous she had once been to love somebody so passionately.Members of the public learned who Lin Nuan was from the recent online episode between Lin Nuan and Wen Moshen that went viral on social media. With her attending the wedding, it drew the attention of others, and many started whispering among themselves.
"Is that Lin Nuan? Can't believe she's here…"
"She already clarified that they are childhood friends. I suppose it's no big deal for her to attend the wedding!"
…
Wen Moshi spotted Lin Nuan from afar and arrived to welcome her. He directed Lin Nuan and Bai Xiaonian to their seats and exchanged greetings briefly with Lin Nuan before he went to greet other guests.
Lin Nuan and Bai Xiaonian were arranged to be seated at the same table with Lin Chen. As the Wen family weren't present, the host table was almost vacant.
The ballroom wasn't a large one, and yet it wasn't fully occupied. The handful of guests were scattered sparsely across the ballroom, and it seemed as if more reporters were being held back by security outside the hotel than guests.Lin Chen had just walked to Lin Nuan's side and was about to sit down when he was pulled away by one of his business partners to another table.
The humorous host made some witty comments before inviting the bride to make her entrance.
The melodious wedding march came on, and the bride held on to her father's arm as she slowly made her way into the ballroom. The applause was sparse.
Across the long crystal T-shaped stage, Lin Nuan spotted the flighty Lu Jinnan, with a cigarette hanging from his mouth. Under the bright lights, he tapped his cigarette ashes and slanted his body to say something to the man next to him.
"Why is he here?" Bai Xiaonian had also noticed Lu Jinnan and said as she furrowed her brows.
Lin Nuan shook her head, which was lowered as she checked the marriage certification process on her phone.
It felt different from the previous time she went there. Her heart was fluttering nervously.
Gu Hanyan's father held a long face as he passed the bride to Wen Moshen and walked down from the stage. There was no warm or touching exchange of words between him and the groom.
At the host table, Gu Hanyan's grandfather was striking the ground with his walking stick and reprimanding Gu Hanyan's parents sternly. It was a humiliation to the Gu family that Wen Moshen's parents hadn't attended the wedding.
Old Man Gu was agitated and coughed violently as he shouted. His face was flushed red with anger, and he thumped at his chest forcefully.
Mayhem and chaos broke out at the host table.
Flustered, Gu Hanyan's uncle quickly pushed the wheelchair over, and several of them rushed to help Old Man Gu onto the wheelchair. Gu Hanyan's auntie commanded them arrogantly, and the group of people promptly pushed the wheelchair away.
Old Lady Gu, who was still seated at the host table, let out a sigh and spoke to her daughter. She pulled her shawl tighter as she grimaced in pain from her headache. The caretaker beside Old Lady Gu passed her some medicated oil and massaged her temples to help ease the pain.
