Chapter 623: I Don’t Have Any Special Gifts
Although he hadn’t spoken with Lin Nuan, Fu Huai’an could sense Lin Nuan’s nervousness. Her little hand was holding on tightly to her own coat, and even though she was asleep, she didn’t release that hold by even a little.
Lin Nuan was probably too tired. Otherwise, she would definitely have stayed up until he arrived.
Pulling this little woman into his embrace, Lin Nuan wasn’t the only one who felt a sense of stability—Fu Huai’an felt it too.
Fu Huai’an almost went crazy after losing Lin Nuan!Fu Huai’an, who always had everything all worked out, never imagined that one day he too would be helpless and at a loss as to what to do.
Fu Huai’an closed his eyes, tightening his embrace of the thin woman in his arms.
Perhaps because Fu Huai’an was holding her too tightly, Lin Nuan, who was asleep, felt an uncomfortable sensation; her nostrils let out two soft sounds that indicated she felt terrible, and her body also lightly struggled.
Fu Huai’an released her a little, but he ultimately couldn’t hold himself back from pinning himself upon her body. After kissing Lin Nuan’s lips, his tongue attacked her gums. It was as if he had gone berserk.
Half-asleep, Lin Nuan, who was pinned down, felt out of breath, feeling as if she was experiencing two different worlds in a short period of time. Her shoulders felt so cold it made her shiver, whereas her body and stomach felt so hot it was suffocating!
She opened her eyes and vaguely saw a head of short black hair before her chest. Her nostrils were filled with the familiar masculine scent, and she couldn’t help circling her arms around the man’s head, her fingers running through his short and stiff hair as she let out a moan.
Sensing the two of them integrate intimately, Lin Nuan moaned out Fu Huai’an’s name, again and again……
The next morning, Lin Nuan couldn’t get up. She was running a temperature of 100°F. Fu Huai’an didn’t know if it was because he had tormented her too ferociously last night!
It wasn’t surprising though. After all, on such a cold day, Lin Nuan left the hotel wearing so little and was in a constant state of fear and trepidation. Also, she fell asleep on the sofa just like that without a shawl or blanket over her!
The minute Fu Huai’an came, she finally became warm, but he then took off Lin Nuan’s clothes and fooled around with her.
Fu Huai’an asked Little Lu to buy some medicine…
Half-asleep, Lin Nuan was in a daze as she leaned against Fu Huai’an’s chest, letting him feed her medicine and water.
The medicine tablet was too large, so it got stuck in Lin Nuan’s throat. She slumped by the side of the bed and vomited, causing a great mess.
Yesterday, Lin Nuan didn’t eat anything else after breakfast, not even a sip of warm water. She even vomited out gastric juices and bile; she felt so terrible that her petite face was flushed red, tears running down her cheeks constantly.
Fu Huai’an patted Lin Nuan’s back gently, frowning. “Go to the hospital!”
Lin Nuan shook her head. “I’ll be fine after I take some medicine!”
After rinsing her mouth, Fu Huai’an didn’t let Lin Nuan take medicine again. “Eat a little something first! It’s bad for you to take medicine on an empty stomach…”
“En!” Lin Nuan nodded.
Actually, Lin Nuan’s condition wasn’t so serious that she couldn’t even walk, but she was still nestled in Fu Huai’an’s arms as if she had no bones, allowing him to carry her to the restaurant.
Lin Nuan felt a sense of security when with Fu Huai’an, so she started feeling less tense.
Perhaps because of her fever, Lin Nuan’s petite and fair face was flushed, which was a pretty sight to look at.
Lin Nuan couldn’t taste anything in her mouth; everything tasted like chewing a candle to her. She only felt that her breath was scalding and that she was sleepy; apart from that, she was fine.
“What about Xiaonian? Has Lu Jinnan sent her back to the country?” Lin Nuan asked.
“En, Lu Jinnan took Bai Xiaonian back to the country. I asked You Nainai to follow them back. I’ll get her to follow you around when back in the country!” Fu Huai’an replied.
Lin Nuan nodded. She lowered her head and took a sip of the porridge, speaking up only after giving the matter some thought…
“Huai’an, let’s return home!”
Lin Nuan held a spoon in her hand as she looked up at Fu Huai’an and said, “Danger lurks everywhere overseas, and I constantly feel anxious!”
Fu Huai’an nodded. “Okay! We’ll go home once your fever subsides!”
Lin Nuan had many other questions for Fu Huai’an. After finishing her porridge, Fu Huai’an fed her medicine once again. This time around, Lin Nuan bit the tablet in two before swallowing it down with water.
“This medicine will cause drowsiness, so I’ll carry you to the bedroom to sleep for a while. When you wake up, we can set off for home at any time!” Fu Huai’an grabbed Lin Nuan’s petite hand and smiled.
“Lie on the bed and chat with me!”
Fu Huai’an nodded.
On the large bed, Lin Nuan sat leaning against Fu Huai’an, her back pressed against Fu Huai’an’s firm and muscular chest. She felt a lot more stable being enveloped by warmth like that.
“Li Muyang told me some things about you, and I want to know if what he said was true!”
Fu Huai’an’s arms tightened around Lin Nuan, and he kissed her long hair. “Okay, I’ll speak without reservation!”
“Li Muyang said that you have another name, Mr. Moral…”
“Okay…”
When Fu Huai’an replied, Lin Nuan’s back could feel the vibration in Fu Huai’an’s chest.
Lin Nuan tightened her grip on the blanket. She didn’t express what she thought and merely asked, “You’re the boss behind Gu Qingcheng?”
Not intending to hide anything from Lin Nuan, Fu Huai’an held her tight and said, “Right…”
Back in those days, Fu Huai’an didn’t have power or influence. He wasn’t like Xie Jingqiu, who could rely on the Xie family. Although the Fu family was long established as well, Fu Huai’an couldn’t use them for himself. In order to stand at the peak of the world of money and power, he had no choice but to take risks!
After working as a lawyer for so long, Fu Huai’an had a hold of scandals from many influential figures from the military and political world, so it was more convenient for him to deal with army ammunition and weaponry than others.
Was Fu Huai’an’s ability to manipulate Wall Street truly due to his talents?
No… without money as a backing, even if he was talented, it wouldn’t be so easy to manipulate Wall Street!
It wasn’t just China, even those successful entrepreneurs in America were the same. They dressed in glamorous suits and spoke with reporters and show hosts in front of cameras about how they made, either humbly or proudly, but which tycoon truly relied solely on their talents?
Money and power were the only absolute principles in this world.
How many once-righteous people had betrayed their morals for money?
Even if one weren’t a politician in a high position in the country, so long as they had money, they could buy all the outcomes that they desired, and even decide on a war.
Lin Nuan didn’t say a word. Only after a long while did she speak in a gentle and calm voice, saying, “When I was with you, I never imagined you used to lead such a life!”
“Afraid?” Fu Huai’an asked in a low voice.
Lin Nuan nodded. “I’m afraid! Because this is a completely foreign world to me, like… like shooting a movie!”
When Lin Nuan said the three words, “shooting a movie,” she didn’t appear agitated, and neither did she find it thrilling like a young lady.
Even though she could hold herself back, Fu Huai’an could hear the panic in Lin Nuan’s voice.
“Huai’an, this isn’t a movie. I don’t have any special gifts, and neither do I have martial art talent. I’m but a very ordinary woman, with no ability to protect myself at all! If I run into a situation like this again, I can only surrender myself, so I’m afraid! I feel like there’s a knife hanging by a silk thread above my head, which could lower down to claim my life at any moment!”
