Mr Fu, I Really Love You
-
chapter-695
When the tiny child ran back for the third bowl, Fu Huai’an walked past Tuan Tuan, holding Tuan Tuan’s bowl of rice in one hand and the last dish in the other…
Tuan Tuan turned back to see Lin Nuan taking out the chopsticks. He then followed Lin Nuan to the dining table.
Lin Nuan had just lifted Tuan Tuan and placed him in the high chair when the doorbell rang.
Lin Nuan subconsciously looked over at Fu Huai’an, and her heartbeat quickened.
The doorbell had rung three times today, each time making Lin Nuan feel more uneasy than the last. There wasn’t much logic behind a woman’s sixth sense, but Lin Nuan didn’t want Fu Huai’an to open the door.
“I’ll get the door!” Lin Nuan said.
“Xiao Nuan!” Fu Huai’an called out to Lin Nuan and wiped his hands with a tissue. “You and Tuan Tuan can eat first. I may need to head out for a bit!”
Fu Huai’an’s words caused Lin Nuan’s heart to leap to her throat.
She watched as Fu Huai’an slowly wiped his hands and casually threw the tissue into the bin. She opened her mouth but didn’t say a word.
Tuan Tuan looked at Fu Huai’an and Lin Nuan with a confused look on his face.
Fu Huai’an walked over to Lin Nuan’s side and said to her, “I may not come back tonight. Don’t worry, there are still many things to prepare for the wedding, so just focus on that. I’ll come back tomorrow night at the latest. Don’t think too much.”Lin Nuan grabbed onto Fu Huai’an’s sleeve and refused to let go. She didn’t know the man who came to look for Fu Huai’an in the afternoon, but from his aura and stride, she could tell that he was a soldier!
Soldiers all had a manly vigor that was unique to them, making them easy to recognize.
Lin Nuan didn’t know what the two of them had talked about, but now, Fu Huai’an had to leave after someone came knocking on the door. When she linked the two incidents together, she felt that Fu Huai’an was about to do something dangerous!
It was just like when he previously saved Qin Zhe in Dubai, landing both of them in danger.
Seeing Lin Nuan’s reddened eyes, Fu Huai’an smiled lightly and hugged her as he brought her out of the dining room so as not to scare Tuan Tuan. They stood between the dining room and the entryway…
Tuan Tuan sat in the high chair and craned his neck to look outside the dining room, but he couldn’t see anything.
“Don’t be scared! It’s not anything dangerous! Don’t worry!” Fu Huai’an assured Lin Nuan.
“I’m going to open the door with you!” Lin Nuan was insistent.
Fu Huai’an held Lin Nuan’s hand tightly and kissed it. He gave in to her request…
They opened the door.
A few tall men were standing outside. The one that led the group showed Fu Huai’an his identification documents. His behavior suggested that he had a no-nonsense attitude, and he was formal and polite. He glanced over at Lin Nuan and said, “Mr. Fu, we need you to assist in our investigations. Please head back with us.”
Lin Nuan didn’t get a chance to see the documents, and she thought these men were just the police. But these policemen had tall and broad figures. They looked different from the policemen she usually saw, as they had an intimidating presence and gave off the impression that they were competent men.
Inside the house, the British shorthair heard the commotion and stretched before coming out of its cage. It jumped onto the back of the couch and sat there, tilting its head and looking at its male owner and the men outside with a confused expression.
Fu Huai’an turned to look at Lin Nuan. “Pass me my coat.”
Although she was reluctant, Lin Nuan opened the full-length mirror and took out Fu Huai’an’s coat to pass it to him.
Fu Huai’an gracefully put on his coat in one smooth motion. He had a tall and broad figure, and his features were well-defined under the lights in the entryway. His actions were calm as he slowly adjusted his sleeves with his long fingers and told Lin Nuan, “You and Tuan Tuan should go to bed early tonight.”
Lin Nuan gritted her teeth and reached out to grab Fu Huai’an’s clothes. She didn’t say a word.
“What are you afraid of? It’s not like I’m going to do something dangerous!” Fu Huai’an smiled. “Don’t worry!”
Lin Nuan nodded and let go of Fu Huai’an’s clothes in an extremely obedient manner.
Panic spread throughout Lin Nuan’s body. She had the urge to follow Fu Huai’an, but she couldn’t leave Tuan Tuan behind.
“I’m leaving!” Fu Huai’an reached out to touch Lin Nuan’s face.
“Wait!”
Lin Nuan rushed into the kitchen in her slippers. The British shorthair, which had been sitting on the back of the couch, jumped off the couch and followed behind Lin Nuan on its four short legs as it meowed.
She took out a bottle of milk and a slice of cheesecake from the refrigerator. Seeing Lin Nuan take out food from the fridge, the British shorthair meowed and ran over to her feet. It raised its paw and pawed at Lin Nuan’s leg, wanting its female owner to feed it.
Lin Nuan didn’t pay the British shorthair any attention, using her leg to push away the fat cat. She quickly ran out and passed the food to Fu Huai’an. “You haven’t eaten dinner yet. Use these to fill your tummy first!”
Fu Huai’an reached out to take the food. His cold and handsome features were full of smiles as he nodded. “Okay!”
Lin Nuan stood at the door as she watched the tall Fu Huai’an step into the black minivan. She couldn’t help but jog out. Lin Nuan’s tears threatened to fall as the tail lights of the vehicle disappeared from her sight.
A strong sense of helplessness and fear bubbled up inside Lin Nuan. It was like the dark clouds before a storm.
Lin Nuan didn’t dare to keep Tuan Tuan waiting in the dining room. She went back to close the door and saw the British shorthair sitting at the entrance to the kitchen. Its tail was curled as it looked at her with its beautiful eyes.
Lin Nuan gripped onto the door handle and pressed her forehead against the door. After she had calmed down, she jogged into the dining room with a smile on her face. She rubbed her hands together, and her voice was cheerful…
“It’s so cold outside! It was freezing!” Lin Nuan smiled and placed her hands on Tuan Tuan’s face. “Will Tuan Tuan help warm Mama up?”
Tuan Tuan giggled and placed his small hands over the back of Lin Nuan’s larger ones. He used his face and palms to warm up Lin Nuan’s slender fingers, which were actually not that cold.
Lin Nuan pressed her forehead against Tuan Tuan’s and spoke softly, “Papa isn’t going to be around tonight, so Tuan Tuan will follow Mama to Jinjiang TV Station and accompany her as she films her show, okay? Tuan Tuan can even sleep with Mama on the big bed tonight!”
The tiny child was elated to hear that he could sleep with Lin Nuan. He ate an extra bowl of rice at dinner and didn’t seem to question where Papa had gone.
After all, to Tuan Tuan, it was normal for Fu Huai’an to be out at night on business…
Last time, Tuan Tuan stayed at home with Auntie Li. But now, he got to be with Mama, so Tuan Tuan was already very happy.
Dinner was bland and tasteless to Lin Nuan. On the other hand, Tuan Tuan ate until he was stuffed.
The tiny child noticed that Lin Nuan wasn’t in a good mood. He wanted to cheer her up with a lollipop that was in his school bag. Tuan Tuan had just opened his schoolbag and hadn’t gotten the chance to find the lollipop when Fang Yan arrived to pick up Lin Nuan.
This time, it was Miss Xia who drove. Fang Yan had no objections to Lin Nuan bringing her child along to Jinjiang TV Station after hearing that there would be no one at home to look after him. After seeing Tuan Tuan’s cute face, Fang Yan told Lin Nuan that she would help her take good care of him when she began filming.
Lin Nuan and Tuan Tuan sat in the backseat. It was probably time for the child to go to bed, as Tuan Tuan fell asleep on Lin Nuan’s thigh to the rocking of the car.
Lin Nuan took off her coat and used it to cover Tuan Tuan. Her furrowed brows hadn’t relaxed at all. Even Fang Yan and Miss Xia could tell that Lin Nuan wasn’t in a good mood.
Fu Huai’an going on leave this time was relatively big news, so Fang Yan and Miss Xia both knew that he was taking a break…
And usually, Fu Huai’an and Lin Nuan would stick to each other every chance they got. Miss Xia and Fang Yan originally thought they would be driving by themselves, while Fu Huai’an and Lin Nuan would be in a separate car.
But today, Lin Nuan walked out of the villa with the child, and there was no sign of Fu Huai’an.
Miss Xia, who was in the driver’s seat, and Fang Yan, who was in the front passenger seat, looked at each other. Both of them thought that Lin Nuan was in a bad mood because she had fought with Fu Huai’an.
But even if they fought, she didn’t have to bring her child to work! Would Fu Huai’an have such a serious fight with her that he wouldn’t look after the child?
Fang Yan had interacted with Fu Huai’an before. Based on his mature personality, it was unlikely for him to have fought with Lin Nuan. It was more likely that Lin Nuan brought the child with her to film the program after losing her temper with Fu Huai’an!
But… Fang Yan had known Lin Nuan for a long time, and she felt that Lin Nuan wasn’t the type to fight with others.
She didn’t ask her in detail. The entire car ride was quiet since Tuan Tuan had fallen asleep.
It wasn’t until Miss Xia had driven the car to the entrance of the Jinjiang TV Station building that Lin Nuan said to Fang Yan, “Sister Yan, if it’s not too much trouble, can you stay with Tuan Tuan in the car? The child is asleep, and I’m afraid he’ll wake up if I carry him upstairs.”
Fang Yan agreed without hesitation.
Fang Yan was also a mother, so she completely understood how Lin Nuan felt. “Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of Tuan Tuan! It’s the first day of filming, so good luck to you and Miss Xia!”
Lin Nuan willed herself to keep her chin up and smile at Fang Yan. Miss Xia also let Fang Yan feel at ease.
Lin Nuan was familiar with all the guests that day—Director Chen, Su Manman, and Song Cheng. She was the program’s host. The four of them sat together and chatted, and it was relatively relaxed.
The program still focused on the host and the guests chatting and talking about their experiences. However, to separate this program from “A Sunday Date”, Miss Xia switched up the content.
The exclusive sponsor engaged by Fang Yan for the program was a very famous French red wine brand. In the interest of the sponsor, Miss Xia’s arranged for every guest or group of guests to pick a bottle of red wine and drink it as they chatted. If they didn’t finish the wine, the bottle would be kept, and they could continue drinking it the next time they appeared on the program.
Even the filming site was decorated to look like an upscale club. The audience seats were also different from that of conventional programs, in which the audience would have to sit in rows. There were tables of four, and the audience could taste good wine while watching the program live.
Not only that, but the audience was also prohibited from having support banners and the like in the filming site, as Miss Xia aimed to make the program appear more posh and high-class. She wanted to come up with a talk show that had never been seen before in China.
The atmosphere of the filming site was very relaxed, as the guests were all familiar people.
Lin Nuan brought out her professionalism. She willed herself to be as professional as possible and not be affected by personal matters when she was working. Even if her heart was full of worry for Fu Huai’an, she couldn’t show it.
As the program began, the elegant Lin Nuan appeared in a blouse and pencil skirt. The audience immediately applauded!
Lin Nuan smiled gently and invited Director Chen, Su Manman, and Song Cheng to choose a bottle of wine. The wine choosing alone was humorous and caused laughter to erupt from the audience below.
In the end, Director Chen said that Su Manman had the most say when it came to choosing red wine. Su Manman had her own red wine vineyard in France and had previously given red wine to them.
Su Manman flipped her long hair and simply reached for the most expensive bottle. “Is there a need to choose? In this world, you get what you pay for, so the most expensive one is definitely the best! It’s just like how you said that Song Cheng and I are paid highly to star in a movie, Director Chen! We’re paid highly for a reason! Am I right, Song Cheng?”
Song Cheng smiled and tapped his nose as he said, “I have to agree with you on that one!”
Director Chen wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry at all this. Lin Nuan said softly, “Then what about my guest appearance?”
There was constant laughter throughout the filming. In Lin Nuan’s program, Su Manman didn’t hide her feelings towards Shi Hanchu. When Lin Nuan said netizens were asking about Su Manman’s current relationship with Shi Hanchu, Su Manman didn’t evade the question like she would on other programs. Instead, she straightforwardly replied that she was chasing after him and that she did so more earnestly every time she faced a setback.
From those few words, anyone could tell that Su Manman and Shi Hanchu weren’t together yet.
Of course, some people admired Su Manman’s honesty and bravery, while others felt that she was too shameless. But Su Manman was famous, and her looks were stunning, so the people that hoped for Su Manman to get together with Shi Hanchu naturally outnumbered the naysayers.
Lin Nuan was exhausted after the filming ended.
Su Manman took off her headset and followed Lin Nuan to the dressing room. She mischievously grabbed onto Lin Nuan’s arm and asked, “Did my brother send you here? Is he hiding in the dressing room again?”
Lin Nuan shook her head. “Huai’an… has something going on today and couldn’t make it!”
Lin Nuan wasn’t willing to make public what had happened to Fu Huai’an. She didn’t even tell Su Manman the truth.
“Don’t tell me you’re in a bad mood because he didn’t come with you!” Su Manman nudged Lin Nuan in the waist with her elbow. “You’re already so blessed. Look at me… I’m not sad even after going through so much effort to chase after Shi Hanchu!”
Lin Nuan smiled at Su Manman. “Well then, all the best! You must make Best Actor Shi fall for your looks!”
“Since my brother isn’t here, let’s go have fun at the most famous nightclub in Jinjiang! I’ll introduce you to some of my friends. They’re all from the industry…” Su Manman thoughtfully gave Lin Nuan a gentle tug. The people Su Manman talked about were the kings and queens of the industry.
“I’ll pass. Tuan Tuan is downstairs sleeping in the car. He still has to go to kindergarten tomorrow, so I have to take him back to rest. You have fun and enjoy yourself!” Lin Nuan said to Su Manman.
The two of them stopped in front of the dressing room.
As soon as Lin Nuan mentioned Tuan Tuan, Su Manman remembered how Tuan Tuan was pushed into the water that night. When she called to ask about Tuan Tuan, she was told that he had come down with a fever and had been admitted to the hospital. She asked, “Is Tuan Tuan okay? Was he scared after that night?”
“Tuan Tuan is fine! He was definitely scared, but children forget things quickly, so all is well now.”
Su Manman nodded. “Since you’re not going, I’ll make a move first! Be careful on the way back!”
“Okay!” Lin Nuan nodded.
…
It was already 11 pm when Miss Xia and Fang Yan sent Lin Nuan and Tuan Tuan back to Tianfu Bay.
Lin Nuan wrapped her coat around Tuan Tuan tightly, and Fang Yan helped to open the door.
The motion sensor lights in the entryway switched on. Without Fu Huai’an around, it was eerily quiet in the house.
The fat cat, which had been sleeping in its soft cage, lifted its head. Upon seeing that Lin Nuan had returned, it buried its head in its paws again and went back to sleep.
“Sister Yan, you and Miss Xia had better go back quickly to rest!” Lin Nuan said to Fang Yan softly as she hugged Tuan Tuan. “Be careful on the road!”
Fang Yan was about to ask Lin Nuan why Fu Huai’an wasn’t at home, but she felt that it would be too rude of her to ask. She only nodded and reminded Lin Nuan to rest early before leaving.
Lin Nuan placed Tuan Tuan on the large bed that she and Fu Huai’an shared. After showering, she also laid on the bed. Tuan Tuan turned around and buried his small body in Lin Nuan’s arms, sleeping soundly.
Lin Nuan pulled up the blanket to cover him properly. She couldn’t sleep since she was worried about Fu Huai’an.
The night felt especially long and torturous without Fu Huai’an by her side.
Tuan Tuan was in her arms, but her body felt cold. Her eyes reddened as she thought about Fu Huai’an.
How she hoped that she would suddenly hear noises coming from downstairs and would see him taking off his coat and changing into his slippers as she walked down the stairs. She would immediately run into his arms and hug him tightly.
Lin Nuan suddenly felt something land on the soft bed. She pushed herself up and glanced at it…
The British shorthair had just jumped on the bed, and it now had its front paw raised as it walked towards Tuan Tuan. Upon noticing that Lin Nuan was looking at it, it turned around and prepared to sneak away with its front paw still raised. But at the same time, it couldn’t help but tentatively glance in Lin Nuan’s direction.
Seeing that Lin Nuan didn’t intend to chase it away, the fat cat sat on the edge of the bed and licked its lips. It eventually chose to curl up at Lin Nuan’s feet.
Lin Nuan closed her sore and swollen eyes and moved closer to Tuan Tuan.
The tiny child seemed to feel Lin Nuan’s warmth, and he turned around to press his face against Lin Nuan as he slept soundly in her arms.
Lin Nuan was still asleep when the sun rose.
She vaguely seemed to have seen Fu Huai’an return home and kiss her and Tuan Tuan on the cheek before going to the bathroom to shower.
At 7 am, Lin Nuan’s phone alarm caused her to wake up with a start. She fumbled for her phone on the bedside table. She then held herself up with one elbow and looked towards the other side of the bed.
There was only Tuan Tuan, who lay sprawled across the bed. There was no sign of Fu Huai’an. But she clearly remembered seeing him come home at midnight!
Lin Nuan’s head was pounding. She pulled up the blanket to properly cover Tuan Tuan and then pushed open the bathroom door…
There was no water or the scent of body wash in the bathroom.
Her eyes landed on Fu Huai’an’s razor below the mirror cabinet. It was still in the same position from yesterday and hadn’t been moved at all.
She was probably dreaming last night!
Lin Nuan furrowed her brows and entered the bathroom to wash her face. She then looked at herself in the mirror and saw the dark circles underneath her bloodshot eyes…
Fu Huai’an said he would be back by tonight at the latest. Lin Nuan had to believe in him!
Lin Nuan let out a deep breath. She had to prepare breakfast for Tuan Tuan since Auntie Li was on leave.
Lin Nuan combed through her hair with her fingers and tied it into a low ponytail. She then put on a woolen sweater on top of her pajamas and carefully made her way down to the kitchen to prepare a nutritious breakfast for Tuan Tuan.
Lin Nuan ate breakfast with Tuan Tuan and helped him put on his uniform before getting him onto the school bus. Upon returning home, she tiredly leaned against the door after closing it.
