Chapter 122: Gaining a Little Fangirl
Lin Jin was thoroughly stunned by this exotic fire wolf.
This creature hadn’t reached its strongest form yet. If he belonged to Lin Jin, Lin Jin could find a way to help the creature merge its dual attributes, allowing it to evolve into a pure flame attribute.
There were times when a pure flame attribute was weaker than dual attributes. However, there were also cases when it was the other way around, where having dual attributes becomes a shortcoming, just like the case of this exotic fire wolf. Both of his attributes were fire with one stronger than the other. If he could ‘cleanse’ the wolf, awakening its ‘green flames’ attribute, this exotic fire wolf might just be invincible.
Lin Jin’s hand was trembling. If this exotic fire wolf was his…
Lin Jin began daydreaming.
However, Xue Bao’er’s voice forcefully snapped him out of his unrealistic fantasies.

“Brother, Brother, Xiao Qing used to be very fierce. How did you do it?” Xue Bao’er gazed expectantly at Lin Jin.
Snapping out of his reverie, Lin Jin lifted up his friar’s outer robes to reveal the two-ringed beast patterned sleeve guard underneath.
Xue Bao’er’s eyes practically had stars in them.“You’re a Rank 2 beast appraiser? That’s amazing!”
He could tell that her praise was sincere without an ounce of pretense in it.
It felt like she was just a child.
“Brother, what is your name?”
“Brother, how did you get yourself certified as a Rank 2 beast appraiser?”
“Brother, why haven’t I seen you before? Before this, only Senior Yang and Senior Lu were at blood contract fourth realm.”
“Brother, can you tell me about the Fire Spirit Possession spell? There is a lot that I still don’t understand.”
“Brother…”
By the time Lin Jin realized it, it was too late. Xue Bao’er had ensnared him. Moreover, Xue Bao’er talked really fast. Before Lin Jin could react, the little girl had shot out a chain of questions like a tiny rattling machine gun.
Lin Jin felt his head swell but he managed to answer them all.
“My name is Lin Jin!”
“I’m already a Rank 2 beast appraiser at the Beast Appraisal Association.”
“You haven’t seen me before because I just entered the Friar Association yesterday. I just had my initial assessment done today and I’ve reached blood contract fourth realm.”
“As for the Fire Spirit Possession, which part of it do you not understand?”

Xue Bao’er immediately flipped open the book on ‘Fire Spirit Possession’ and sought Lin Jin’s guidance.
“This part here says that there are a few types of fire spirit buffs, but it only mentioned flame engulfment. What are the other types?”
“Oh, oh! I have another question! During invocation, at first, it says to use Firelight, but why does it say Dry Firelight later on?”
“When I performed the spell, the effect wasn’t as effective as I imagined and the buff enhancement was also limited. Why is that?”
“…”
Xue Bao’er seemed to have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge as she bombarded Lin Jin with seven or eight questions at a time. And all of those questions were rather difficult to answer. Not everyone here at the association could have given her a satisfactory explanation.
Quite a few disciples caught sight of this scene playing out and they quickly backtracked several steps, casting sympathetic looks at Lin Jin.
“He’s being badgered by Bao’er. He’s done for.”
“Yeah, that’s true. Bao’er is famous for being hard to deal with. She’s a spell maniac and her spell researching has reached a fanatic level. She seeks guidance from every new face she comes across. If they can’t answer her question, she’d look down on them and ignore them forever. I remember how some who thought they were more knowledgeable than the rest are still stuck in a depressive rut after being bombarded by her questions.
“I heard that even Senior Yang and Senior Lu would go out of their way to avoid Bao’er if they saw her.”
Lin Jin obviously couldn’t hear their discussion.
He was currently dumbfounded by Xue Bao’er’s inquiries.
Despite her young age, what Xue Bao’er was asking were all vital information that the Spirit Library’s Fire Spirit Possession book couldn’t explain in detail.
However, coincidentally, the answer to most of these questions could be found in the Museum of Deadly Beasts’ archives.
Since she had asked, Lin Jin thought he would help to answer her queries.
And so, he sat down to answer every single question she had asked.
The people around were waiting for Lin Jin to break down but too bad that wasn’t going to happen soon. He even sat down to start his explanation to Bao’er earnestly.
“Oh my god, are my eyes deceiving me? He’s actually explaining spells to Xue Bao’er!”
“This Lin guy is just digging his own grave and he has no one to blame but himself. If he had said he didn’t know from the start, Xue Bao’er might just lose interest and let him off the hook. But now that he’s answering her questions, I’m pretty sure he’ll break down soon enough.”
“Even most of the association’s mentors doesn’t have the courage to discuss spells with the spell-maniac Bao’er.”
Needless to say, in the eyes of these disciples, that little loli was merely a ravenous beast wearing the skin of a cute little girl. She should never be provoked. Once ensnared after failing to escape, one should immediately declare, “I don’t know. I don’t understand.”
This was the standard procedure everyone knew.
They knew that Bao’er’s questions were so profound that the average person couldn’t possibly come up with an answer. If they tried to pretend and give her a half-assed answer, this ‘profoundly knowledgeable’ little lass would eventually expose them, humiliating them on the spot.
However, what happened next confused the onlookers.
Lin Jin continued talking while Xue Bao’er listened diligently. At times, she would nod continuously, looking so excited that there were stars in her eyes. She was obviously elated.
‘Xue Bao’er didn’t find any flaws in his answers?’
Everyone had the same thought.
At that moment, Lin Jin was still speaking, “About the spell invocation. At first, it says to use Firelight, but it changes to Dry Firelight instead. This is because the person who wrote this Fire Spirit Possession didn’t bother to clarify the transition. Or one could say that he missed out on a key point, that was the spell invocation had to be compatible with the spell-caster’s attribute. I think he only wrote it this way because he copied the information from some ancient books without carefully researching the spell. In fact, you can rely entirely on Firelight when performing the Fire Spirit Possession. But that would greatly reduce the buff’s effects unless the caster is of a fire attribute. If he wasn’t, he would need to switch to a different invocation that suits his own attributes to call on the correct fire spirit. Like in your case, you’re of a lightning attribute, to invoke fire, you should be using ‘Spark’ instead…”
Xue Bao’er doubts were finally clearing up as she nodded while listening to Lin Jin’s impromptu lecture. The look of adoration in her expression continued to grow more prominent.
If it were based on Lin Jin’s own knowledge, he obviously couldn’t answer her questions. But fortunately, the museum had detailed explanations on the Fire Spirit Possession so Lin Jin only had to recite them out loud. It wasn’t that hard.
Lin Jin continued to answer the next few questions just as flawlessly.
After careful contemplation, Xue Bao’er tossed out three more questions. These newer questions were obviously more complex than the last set.
But no matter how difficult they were, it didn’t pose a problem for Lin Jin.
He still answered them one by one, forcing Xue Bao’er to digest and dissect them. She even kept her head down as she pondered in silence.
At this, Lin Jin sensed that it was his chance to escape. He got up quietly from his seat. She didn’t move a single muscle. He took one more step away. She was still unaware that Lin Jin was about to leave.
If he didn’t leave now, when would he leave?
Lin Jin didn’t want to continue letting himself be hounded by this little loli’s questions anymore.
He left at once, leaving the onlookers with their maws gaping. This was the first time they saw someone ‘settle’ Xue Bao’er.
Long after Lin Jin was gone, Xue Bao’er was finally done studying his answer. But when she looked up again, she realized that Lin Jin had vanished into thin air.
