My Werewolf System
chapter-992

992 Who Is He?

When Harvor finally left the room, it left a relatively awkward situation with Gary, Xin, and Apollo all together. Xin hadn’t said anything, as she was still trying to fully calm herself down.

Images replayed in her head—wondering whether she should have just tried striking Harvor right then and there to see what would happen. She was sure many in the AFC would underestimate her, especially with the ban on elemental powers.

A lot of Xin’s strength came from her elemental abilities, derived from the feathers on her body. Even though she was at a disadvantage, she still managed to rise quite high.

Meanwhile, Gary was wondering if they should leave the room now that Harvor knew where they were, but he had already given his tickets away. If he were to leave, there would be no way for him to watch the fight.

“I’m sorry, Gary!” Apollo suddenly said. “I didn’t expect him to come visit me like that. I’m a new Zodiac, so it made no sense for him to visit me. It’s not like the two of us know each other well, other than a few encounters we’ve had before.”

“I really mean it; I had no intentions of tricking you and Xin by bringing you here and then having him show up.”

Apollo felt awkward and somewhat stuck in the middle of the situation he was in. He had loyalty to the One Gang, being a high-ranking member. He had agreed to help them after he had challenged Harvor outside of the AFC and lost, and he was committed to keeping his word.

That was the type of person he was, and it was this that was conflicting within him. He truly did invite Gary to talk and catch up from the old days. However, he didn’t expect Harvor to act like that in front of Xin, and for two meetings of Kings to come so close to fighting right in front of his eyes.

“I know you didn’t mean anything by it,” Gary said as he came over and reached up, giving Apollo a pat on the shoulder. Listening to his heartbeat, he knew Apollo needed it. It also made Gary realize the height difference between the two of them.

Maybe in his Werewolf form, he reached about the same height? Regardless, Gary knew full well what Apollo had done for him, but he decided not to say it out loud.

During the conversation between Apollo and Harvor, he had heard Apollo lie. His sensitive ears had picked up the question and Apollo stating he knew nothing about Gary at all.

If Apollo had told the truth, who knew what would have happened? Although Gary and Apollo weren’t really friends in the AFC, they were friendly rivals, and Apollo himself had done nothing to harm his group of friends along with Numba; most of that was Sty.

“Let’s forget about it, huh? He’s gone now,” Gary said to everyone in the room. “Think about it—he’s got a fight to worry about, and we have people we want to cheer for. He won’t be returning, so let’s just watch these warm-up fights and cheer,” Gary said, sitting back down.

Right after, Apollo sat down to the left of Gary, and then Xin sat on the other side. The two of them weren’t speaking to each other; Xin didn’t know what Apollo had done for them, and in her eyes, she was just in a bad mood.

“Ah, speaking of supporting, both Gary and I are supporting Jayden, obviously,” Xin said. “But what about you, Apollo? You said you have history with Jayden, right? Are you supporting Jayden or your arsehole of a boss?”

Gary shook his head because it felt like fighting words coming from Xin. He wondered if he would ever get out of this heated situation.

——

Harvor had returned to his personal room, where he was to get ready for the fight. There was a large team inside the room—people in white gowns that looked like medical staff.

They even had samples of blood that were being analyzed, and next to them, more serums were being created. It looked partly like a lab from NIRV.

Then there were the trainers watching several videos, and finally, there was Stanley with his glasses.

“All your preparations, as usual, are good for the fight. Your blood shows no abnormalities; there is no sign of you being crazed,” Stanley informed.

“Good. As one of the first to be a lab rat for NIRV, I expected there to be some downsides, but it seems these days there are more problems with the serums than when I took it. But maybe I’m just lucky,” Harvor started to laugh. “I guess I make my own luck.”

“Of course not, sir,” Stanley replied, pushing his glasses onto the bridge of his nose. “There are many out there with powerful Altered forms. If your Altered form were in the hands of another, I’m sure they wouldn’t be nearly as skilled.”

“Speaking of Altered forms, did you get the information I sent you?” Harvor asked.

Stanley pulled out a tablet and started to scroll through it.

“I looked through NIRV’s database, and it certainly is strange. To block an attack like you said, and so easily... The only Altered capable of doing such a thing should be part of the Phoenix Gang. Even then, there should only be a few who could completely disregard an attack like that.

“Of course, I didn’t see it myself and am just going from the footage, but there should be no Altered in existence with fire abilities that can do such a thing at the moment, due to what happened to the Phoenix Gang.”

“So right now, we have no idea who he is,” Harvor said, thinking back to the man in the room. “Interesting, very interesting.”
