My Wife is the Asura Empress
chapter-68-30041322

"How ironic...A month ago you were the one giving me wounds, hated me to the core, and swore to make my life hell. Today you're the one applying medicine over my injuries." Rio said with a bittersweet smile.

She fell silent and turned around to walk away from him to avoid his piercing gaze.

'In my blind hatred for humans, I didn't realize it sooner but even without [Disguise] he resembles big brother Leon.'

Her frozen heart was slowly melting towards this annoying human she hated once.

There were a few reasons to trigger this outcome.

The first reason was that he was the husband of her dear sister who was the person she currently cherished the most. Because Lia took care of her when her world collapsed and she went into darkness called 'Despair'.

The second reason was that she begged her sister in the past to be married to the same person Lia marries so they can be together forever.

Third, the most fetal, was that He resembled Leon greatly in his [Disguise] form which started breaking knots in her heart.

How can she not feel her heart fluttering for someone who looked similar to the person she once loved dearly?

There was a saying among women that they wanted to marry someone who took care of them and had characteristics like their father.

For Helia, it was her brother. She wanted someone who was like her big brother.

As if God was playing pranks with her, A person came into her life who was Lia's husband and looked similar to Leon. At the same time, he was from the human race which was her mortal enemy.

Unconscious of these changes, she had started to not hate Rio and it was slowly transforming into an unknown feeling which was far from being love or hatred and couldn't be described.

Even with all these reasons, conquering her heart wasn't that easy so Helia remained distant from him.

He followed her while asking, "What is this countdown for, and what to do with these beasts who are looking at me as if I'm their daddy?"

"After the countdown ends, Emperor spirit can revive and come to fight you unless you don't have the heart stone. But since you have the heart stone, it will assist you in the next battle.

You can command these beasts to follow you for now to the next shelter. I won't help you so these beasts will be all you have against the next shelter fight." She explained to him while summoning her Red-stage wolf mount.

"Won't I lose easily since most beasts are massacred by you?" He blurted it out without thinking twice.

"If I didn't kill them then an idiot would've got slaughtered. Although I wouldn't mind you becoming their lunchtime snacks but I don't want to see Lia upset.

The next shelter doesn't have many beasts under its command so don't worry about losing." Helia said the first part in a mocking tone and the second half in a stiff voice.

She climbed the mount and beckoned him to mount up.

He turned around to look at the scattered corpse and remembered something.

"Wait... Let me get those cores. I can increase my yellow stats points." He said and started walking towards a dead body nearby.

"They can't be absorbed by you unless you kill them yourself or have the last hit in killing them." Helia poured down water to extinguish his lit-up hope.

He turned around with dropped shoulder and climbed up the wolf quietly while ordering the beast to follow him with a thought.

Seeing him sad, Helia tried to comfort Rio, "You can absorb the cores of beast killed by these subordinates following you since they are under your command."

His eyes shone with joy as he became filled with excitement for his next destination.

They moved towards the next area which went through the tall trees.

After thirty minutes of traveling, Another shelter came into their view.

It was similar to the one before with a little difference of being tall walls around the structure of the building.

Helia had killed over forty beasts in the last fight so only thirty-four beasts were following him.

He didn't wait for her to tell him to proceed and commanded the beast to storm inside with him through the front opening in the wall which was an open space.

This time, Helia had already hidden her presence as she wanted him to face a real battle.

This caused The Emperor beast to call his subordinate beast scattered around the nearby region as soon as he detected an intruder infiltrating the walls of his shelter.

Before Rio could enter through the gate, the ground started shaking.

He turned around and saw beasts in crimson fur were running in his direction which was similar to the one under his commands. Their body had an additional shell-like layer that boosted their defense.

'They are only two dozen but their defense is greater. Although they are running slower than these beasts around me, it will be hard to tell who would win in one on one fight.'

An ominous feeling took over him because he had to fight these beasts alone unlike before when a war goddess assisted him.

He narrowed his eyes seeing the beasts marching towards his way and getting closer every second.

Author Note:

Taming the Lioness' heart is hard. Hopefully, Rio would be able to do it in the future.
