Chapter 2082 – I’m Threatening You
“Stop blabbing about this nonsense. My ears are growing calluses from all the crap you guys spew.” Lu Yun stuck his finger into his ear and picked at it. “I don’t even believe my friends, so why would I listen to rot from an enemy?”
The Fire God’s expression turned slightly awkward.
“We have a deal—I saved your life, so you need to help me get stronger,” Lu Yun said matter-of-factly.
“When did we strike that deal?” the Fire God grumbled.“I don’t care!” Lu Yun grumbled. “I can kill you right now if you don’t agree!”
He leered at her as the golden page of the Tome of Life and Death appeared over his head.
“Fine, fine,” the Fire God acquiesced with resignation. She could’ve used the Forge of Life and Death to fully suppress and refine the young man had he been wholly unprepared. But now that he was aware of her existence and on guard against her, that left her no opportunity whatsoever.
It didn’t make a difference that she was stronger than him on an absolute basis.
Formula dao.
Formula dao was too uncanny.
The stronger Lu Yun was, the greater the method became. Not even nihil powerhouses could avoid its analysis. Formula dao was also the medium for supplemental dao—the forge of heaven and earth was the ultimate peak of equipment dao within the supplemental daos. The young man was naturally very familiar with it.The Fire God had incorporated her primary body into the ultimate peak of supplemental dao so she could exert control over all life. Unfortunately, it ended up backfiring on her.
When Lu Yun was captured by the forge, he analyzed his circumstances with formula dao. Although he didn’t come to an answer of how to extract himself, he discovered how to counter the Fire God. In his days of sitting cross-legged at Mount Xuanhuang, he further deduced a complete method to kill the Fire God.
Thus, there were many things that he didn’t need to say aloud. A simple glance could convey meaning that ran deeper than words.
The Fire God…
If she hadn’t shown up, Lu Yun would’ve hacked his way into the Divine Temple of Nothing and chopped her up. That wasn’t a joke or an empty threat. Since those of the divine temple had designs on him, he needed to set an example. Who knew what might jump out next if he simply scared off the Fire God?
He’d also gleaned some clues about the Divine Temple of Nothing through the course of his calculations. For some reason, its powerhouses couldn’t leave the temple. The Fire God was one of the few who could, so the Dao King and others spent all of their efforts scheming against her.
Just one Fire God alone didn’t mean much, but her strength had reached the peak of nothing and she reigned over it. She was much stronger than the Dao King and others. Only Dongfang Hao wielding the Sword of Chaos could restrain her—and now, Lu Yun as well.
Killing the Fire God was a move of great strategic importance for the Dao King’s side. It would blast a weakness into the Divine Temple of Nothing.
“How should I strengthen myself?” Lu Yun asked with a smile.
“At your level? Battles of life and death, of course.” The Fire God stroked her pointy chin with a grin. “I judge you to be one of the peak Nihil World Sovereigns within the nothing. You’ve reached Ancestor and Forebear’s level when they were in their prime.”
“That strong?” Lu Yun blinked. He knew he was highly capable, but he should’ve paled far in comparison to the Ancestor and Forebear of old.
While they weren’t the strongest Nihil World Sovereigns of the nothing, they were representative characters and monikers for the strong.
“You weren’t before, but you are after you deduced the combat art to kill me.” The Fire God plopped down in the void and tilted her neck up at Lu Yun. “What, do you lack that much confidence in yourself?”
“Of course I do, prior to fighting that kind of powerhouse.” One’s strength was determined by the caliber of one’s opponents, not one’s words.
“Then come with me to the Divine Temple of Nothing and fight the truly strong in it. You’ll know then.” The Fire God laughed like a fox—but not the little fox. Although the little fox was mischievous and apt to be up to no good, she never utilized her wiles against others.
In contrast, the Fire God seemed to be more like a fox as she giggled, “Enter the divine temple and fight with its strongest powerhouses. You’ll find the way to improve yourself then.”
“I can’t even beat your subordinate, the fire god envoy,” Lu Yun frowned.
The truly strong? Everyone in the divine temple was likely powerhouses beyond nihil, weren’t they? He’d be courting death trying to fight them!
“The envoy is the manifestation of the rules, not a living being,” the Fire God said. “Do you think you can beat the manifestation of the rules? Don’t worry, there are only so many beyond nihil in the temple. Most of them are Nihil World Sovereigns and sufficient for you to practice on.”
Lu Yun fell silent. The manifestation of the rules and being bestowed a true spirit meant the ultimate peak of a certain set of rules in the great dao. Being human, he naturally couldn’t fight those. Some others with similar origins, however, came to mind.
The Talisman, Formation, Pill, and Weapon Kings of the Hongmeng were peak titled kings. They also weren’t living beings, but derivations from the four supplemental daos. Being manifestations of the rules, the Dao King had granted them true spirits to safeguard the Hongmeng.
“Very well,” Lu Yun nodded. “Let’s go to the Divine Temple of Nothing.”
“You really dare come with me?” The Fire God looked incredulously at Lu Yun. “Aren’t you afraid that I’ll take the advantage to kill you?”
“Of course I am, why wouldn’t I be?” Lu Yun answered frankly. “But I guarantee that you’ll die first before you take me out.
“Are you that certain of yourself?” The Fire God wasn’t very pleased by the response. She was one of the strongest in the nothing when it came down to it. Not even the current Dao King or mistress was her match. But this young man talked about her like she was someone he could crush to death at any time?
“I rather wish that you guys would attack me,” he suddenly broke out into laughter. “That way, I won’t feel any guilt when I destroy the Divine Temple of Nothing.”
The Fire God: ……
Lu Yun explained with resignation when he saw her skepticism, “I thought you knew me well enough given that you’d moved against me and wanted to seize my treasure. It looks like you still know far from enough. Or do you guys think that I’m not worth consideration without the Tome of Life and Death?”
The Fire God shrugged—some in the temple did think that way.
“Have you ever heard of the Dragonquake Scripture?” Lu Yun asked merrily. “There’s a method within it called the Dragonspike Litany that can destroy the entire temple if it’s deployed. Of course, I can’t use it now because I don’t know what consequences will result from me using it, so I try not to if I can help it.
“Anyway, I’m not discussing this with you, but threatening you! Take me to the Divine Temple of Nothing or I’ll kill you and go there myself!” he snarled.
