Never Die Extra (Edited)
chapter-415-30041322

Great Sorcerer, Nurture (5)

“Ohhhhh, I’ve become stronger!”

As such exclamations were heard amongst the humans, Evan realized that his education yielded them the right results. He knew that if they understood that such results came from Evan’s training manual, they would only focus on it without Evan needing to force them.

“Amazing, it’s not even one whole day! This isn’t a simple training!”

“Perhaps this is just part of a training for us to accept god’s power, isn’t it?”

“Yes, I think that’s right.”

But human imagination went further than Evan expected.

“He kindly taught us how to dedicate ourselves.”

“We were too stupid not to know his deep intentions.”

“It’s not too late right now. Let’s show him who we really are!”

The humans, who were deluded that they could now partially control god’s power, became very delighted and went all out in training. The result was what Evan expected, but the process was undesirable…Evan wanted to correct their opinions on their training since they described it as a ritual of making an offering to a god. Still, he couldn’t since the results were great.

“I better leave them as is…”

“I think your attitude might make the situation worse.”

“Be quiet.”

“Kiyaa!”

While the humans were busy increasing their stamina, the dwarves made progress in their unique weaponry research. Evan expected them to progress in the research, but he didn’t expect them to make so much in just a few days.

“Magic weaponry draws out power from the mana of Demons and, at the same time, the power from the soul.”

“So, to complete it artificially, we realized a contact is needed between materials and souls.”

“The task left for us was to find out a ‘method’ that would make contact possible. The soul is an area which we, the earth fairies, are not aware of. So, we decided to base our experiment on our encounters with the Demons for observing the vague concept called the soul.”

Evan already knew about it without needing further explanation. It was also a topic that was discussed in the game. There was just one dwarf who researched unique weaponry until now, so it took him a considerable amount of time to come to this conclusion, and not to even mention how many times he came up with wrong deductions. Still, with this many dwarves, they seem to have thought of the correct conclusion without having much in the way of troubles.

“From now on, please carry this with you all the time, our savior. So, we will be able to connect the dots between the unique weaponry and you.”

“Yet, we are still researching the materials that can contact a soul. Haha.”

“No, this is fast enough.”

Yes, it surely was an achievement that exceeded Evan’s expectations in terms of time. Evan spoke in all seriousness after accepting and putting on a strange cylindrical object called Tape, but it looked like a binocular.

“Here, take this, too, Mirole.”

“Huh? Zero, but I…”

“I see, understood. Since she is a strong person, there always are possibilities.”

“Is everyone loud and clear on that? Let the work begin from now!”

The dwarves resumed their work as soon as they heard what Evan said. Creating an item which they’ve already made once wouldn’t take too much time. Although, if Evan’s request were unacceptable, the dwarves wouldn’t put it into action, even they knew that Mirole was stronger than any other forest elves in this forest and any of the other survivors. Precisely speaking, she had started out training way earlier than it should have in the main story due to Evan, so she was growing faster.

“Zero were you planning to prepare the unique weaponry from the start…?”

“Of course. You also have to become stronger. You will move along with me even in the future, so you need to adjust your pace to match me.”

“Kiya.”

Mirole blushed. It was an unusual reaction from her at the present time. Still, such a reaction became a common sight after meeting with High Elf Mirole in God’s Era.

“From now on…will you stay by my side?”

Evan lightly smiled at her hesitation.

“It’s not something new. The only person I can rely on here is you.”

“I see. There was no need for me to ask it in the first place…hehe.”

“Ah, you just left me out among the people you can rely on, Master!”

Maybell butted in as usual and made a fuss about it, but Mirole didn’t seem bothered. The elf girl, who clenched her first while blushing with her face red, looked even cuter than her CG in Yo-Ma Great War Zero. As some parts of the story started to progress fast, her good impression towards Evan started to run havoc.

“Hiiii?”

It was that time. Mirole, who was shy but wanted to stick to Evan’s side, lifted her head while groaning.

“I feel a great pressure coming…!”

“Huh?”

“An evil power…this is definitely from a Demon…!”

Mirole’s eyes were fixed on Maybell for a moment after mentioning the word Demon. Evan asked calmly.

“Is there another Demon beside Maybell?”

“They are appearing. And their numbers are…! Ah, there seems to be other beings among them. It seems humans are there, too!”

As expected. Evan nodded; he had a hunch. It was the most important event in the first chapter. But what should he do? If he followed the flow, the main character of this event was Evan…not the Great Ancient Mage. The Great Ancient Mage was merely a helpless spectator here as he hadn’t been awakened yet.

‘But that’s not who I am.’

If things go by as they were intended to be, many people would die. And Evan decided not to be afraid of the scenario changing. If so, he didn’t have time to waste with hesitation.

“Mirole, guide me.”

“Yes!”

Was it just his imagination? Mirole replied bravely and focused her attention on the sound, feeling the presence of the spirits. They were guiding her to the right path.

“It’s quite far from here. But you can reach it in no time, right?”

“Of course. Only if you show me the way.”

Evan held a hand out, which Mirole quickly grabbed without any hesitation, although she was blushing. In that moment, the world looked different to Evan’s eyes. It was filled with sparkling lights.

[This way.]

[They are trying to harm the humans. Hurry.]

The voices of the spirits could be heard. Moreover, their vague appearances were now clear to Evan. Some spirits looked like cute animals, some looked like children with wings, just like how modern people thought, and some looked like pillows made from leaves.

[Here, here, hurry!]

[Let’s go!]

Perhaps Mirole cast something on Evan. There seemed to be a similar event in the original story, but experiencing it gave a deeper impression than the CGs. Evan wanted to admire the view forever, but it was time for him to move. He shook his head not to fall into temptation and set off. The spirits were showing the path.

“Maybell, are you keeping up with me well?”

“Of course. I’ll follow you wherever you go.”

Giving a girl a piggyback ride while holding another girl’s hand surely looked despicable to others. Evan took his first step forward after such meaningless thoughts. At that moment, they already reached their destination.

[For the Devil…huh?]

The situation was about to get ugly. The humans looked helpless, just like how they were before meeting Evan. And there were Demons who were bragging about their strength. The Demon that stood in the front caught everyone’s attention, having a human-like form but with red skin and two horns jutting out from the side of his head, which made his impression as wicked as possible. His unique red weaponry that covered his muscles signified his strength. That strange substance that could only be explained as an amorphous solid had a unique attribute, so it was difficult to build resistance against it.

‘Oh, so it’s Diokas.’

After recalling, Evan realized this Demon was one of the Ten Knights of the Demon Force, the Eight-Hand Diokas. The Four Heavenly Kings were the best Demon warriors in Yo-Ma Great War Zero, but excluding them, the strongest Demons were called the Ten Knights, of which the Demon King was one.

[Where did you appear?]

Diokas, who tried to execute the first victim, frowned at Evan, who just entered the execution ground with two girls. Evan came back to reality after delightfully greeting one of the game components, Diokas, and he shrugged.

“But that’s not important. What matters is that I’m here to stop you.”

“Here you go again with your arrogance.”

“Be quiet; Zero is talking here.”

“!?”

While Mirole was confronting Maybell on Evan’s behalf, Evan started doing some simple stretching. And, after looking around the humans…he instinctively equipped his hood.

‘Wait for a second, is it really…?’

Evan tried his best to cover his identity and looked around once more, feeling slightly relieved. Both of them looked very similar, but he confirmed that they weren’t him.

‘But, if so…Yeah, I need to protect them at all cost.’

After deciding the course of action, Evan completely hid his face and confronted Diokas while having the humans stay behind him. Diokas was leading approximately thirty Demons, and each of them was strong enough to be officers if they ever came to the present time. The difference in strength was too much between God’s Era and the present time. Even Diokas had equivalent strength with the Demon King, at least!

[How dare you mere humans block the path of the Iron King…I’m sure you are ready to die, creature.]

Diokas sharpened his horns and stared at Evan after sensing part of Evan’s strength. The Demons encouraged themselves and took a step forward, too.

“It’s funny how many Demons call themselves with the title of King… in an attempt to lengthen their horns.”

[You shall die!]

Evan thought he’d like to chat more. Was he too offensive, or was there another reason? Diokas charged in and stretched his arm forward. The red skin that covered his arm transformed into horns and rushed in. Evan blocked it with one hand and crushed it as if he expected it to happen.

[Grrrgh!?]

“Is this possible? Oh, it worked.”

And he put it into his inventory pocket. He also confirmed that it didn’t disappear during the process. This was lucky as hell.

“I only got one piece of it after completely defeating you in the game…you are a good guy, after all.”

The unique weaponry of the Iron King Diokas was a horn obtained from grinding his soul! It had a tremendous effect on the research of unique weaponry in the game, and it was also used as part of the necessary ingredients. Yet, Evan was able to collect them in bulk instead of just one piece, so how could he not be happy? It was the best moment ever, aside from the day when he was able to pluck the endlessly regenerating feathers from the phoenix!

[Krrrgh, Grrrrgh…!?]

Unique weaponry wasn’t a simple thing. Diokas couldn’t regain his consciousness after feeling part of his soul getting ripped off. He couldn’t be harmed with sheer physical power, so how!?

[You bastard…it’s not a physical power but a power from a different source…!]

“Ah…yup, think as you please.”

Diokas granted Evan’s strong wish of wanting him to draw out the next horn. Of course, he intended to pierce Evan with it, but it wouldn’t work…

[Stay away from humans, Demons.]

‘…Ah, so she already arrived. It’s sooner than the scenario.’

Evan squinted his eyes at the voice from the sky. On the other hand, Diokas shivered like a bug that was sprayed by a repellent.

[This, this power…perhaps it’s from a god?]

[That is right. I’ll punish you on behalf of the Great Mother Earth.]

Alas, shiny golden wings spread in the sky. An image of an angel that slowly descended from the sky to the ground was seen.

[My name is Fayna. Demon, you don’t need to tell me your name. Soon, you will die, anyway.]

It was the appearance of the disciple of Great Mother Earth, the first step of the Divine Realm interfering in the Middle Earth.
