Chapter 144 – Wiping Bloodstains (2)

Mo Linyuan knew that before Ye Li died, he had forcefully passed his martial arts, along with the internal energy he had absorbed from numerous people, into Ye Mu, but he never imagined that Ye Mu would be so deadly. In less than a day, she was able to single-handedly exterminate all of the inner force experts from the three great clans of the Mo country and had not been harmed in the slightest!

“Ye Mu?” Mo Linyuan could only have his wound treated mildly in the battle field with no proper place or recuperation. He got down from his makeshift bed and made his way towards Ye Mu.

“Your Majesty, don’t go!” Zi Xu, who had rushed back, anxiously pulled Mo Linyuan back, “Previously, Miss Ye even attacked me. With her state now…I’m afraid she is obviously not sane anymore. You will only put yourself in danger!”

The others were also thinking the same thing. They stopped Mo Linyuan worriedly and did not let him pass. They were all vigilant as they stared into the distance, as if expecting doom to befall anytime on them.

The dark sky had slowly turned light, the rain finally stopping, but the blood still seeped into the ground in an endless stream. And even if the earth was washed by the heavy rain for an entire night, the area still reeked of blood—seeping into the tip of Ye Mu’s nose. Standing on top of the pile of corpses she had created, she used her blood-stained clothes to wipe the blood off her fingers.

This action was done very calmly—normal, even. As if she was wiping something off that was anything but blood. However, it was quite a bizarre and eerie scene, when faced with the corpses that definitely reached the underworld in a brutal fashion.

“Don’t worry…she will not harm me.”

Mo Linyuan could still remember the few words Ye Mu had said to him before. It was obvious to him that she was somewhat rational; at the very least, she was still aware of his identity.

“Your Majesty!” Seeing that Mo Linyuan was adamant, everyone stood in front of him with more resilience.

The voices alarmed Ye Mu, who was standing far away. She suddenly looked over like a cautious little beast. The distance was too far, and no one could clearly see her expression, but they could feel her gaze even from afar. In an instant, they became even more edgy!

“I said it’s all right…” Mo Linyuan’s voice dropped to an extremely low pitch, as if he was afraid of disturbing someone. His serene phoenix eyes stared unwaveringly in Ye Mu’s direction as he quietly instructed, “All of you stay here. I will go over alone.”

After he finished speaking, Mo Linyuan ignored the disapproval in everyone’s eyes and determinedly walked towards Ye Mu.

What kind of experience was it to climb a mountain of corpses?

Mo Linyuan felt his hands and feet turn cold, his injury seemed to be even throbbing more painfully than before.

The feeling of his soles burying into the corpse’s bodies beneath him was not the least pleasant. Despite his intelligence and maturity, he was still a teenager at heart. Facing this frightening scene before him, he felt a sense of tension in his heart that he hadn’t felt in a long time.

Ye Mu lowered her head, looking at him. She unconsciously slowed down the hasty, fervent motions of wiping her fingers, to look at Mo Linyuan—but her eyes were dead, not the slightest warmth in them.

Mo Linyuan’s throat constricted as he approached her step by step. With each step, it felt as if he was walking on the sharp edge of a blade; just one slip and he would be sliced away.

Finally, his steps halted as he reached Ye Mu, who also stopped smearing her hands.

Without waiting for Mo Linyuan to speak first, Ye Mu unexpectedly broke the silence. She extended her hand, which was getting more and more dirty, to him.

“There’s so much blood—I can’t wipe it clean.”

It was clearly said in flat tone, but from her impatient, jittery actions, Mo Linyuan could feel the muted cries from the hidden depths of her heart—if it had been the Ye Mu before, if she hadn’t been bestowed a gruesome martial art, she definitely wouldn’t have the need and want to kill so many people.

Thinking of this, Mo Linyuan used his damp clothes to wipe her small hands instead. As the blood was slowly wiped clean bit by bit, he felt Ye Mu’s turbulent emotions calm down by a lot.

“Look, isn’t it all gone?”

Mo Linyuan showed Ye Mu her hands, and Ye Mu kept turning it over and over, only to hear him let out a long, weary sigh.

“Mu’er, can I carry you down now?”
