Zhang Fan completely fainted, and didn’t wake up this time until the next day.

It was now time for the planned two-day weekend trip where the hospital’s department heads took the new college graduates out into the plains for a two-day vacation. Zhang Fan sat in the back of the car without saying a single word.

“Don’t worry about it. All of us got drunk last night. You were just the first to get drunk. We’re all young, so how could we possibly compare to the veterans?” Li Hui could tell that Zhang Fan wasn’t very happy, so he secretly whispered and tried to console Zhang Fan.

“That’s not it. I really wasn’t thinking so much about that. It’s just that I’ve never been drunk before, so I’m still feeling a little dizzy. I think I’ll take a little nap.” Actually, Zhang Fan was busy checking out the System that suddenly added itself to his mind.

The Super Medical Support System was a scientific creation that was created one hundred years in the future for the purpose of improving China’s overall medical level. Countless scientists had worked together to invent this System which was capable of rapidly improving a doctor’s medical level.

This System possessed various functions such as searching for medical knowledge, support, and training. For some unknown reason, the System slipped through dimensional cracks and entered Zhang Fan’s body in summer of the year 2008, one hundred years before it was supposed to be invented.

The System automatically determined that Zhang Fan was a medical intern. This futuristic System was one that would help doctors learn and improve according to China’s total accumulated medical knowledge.

Since Zhang Fan was currently only an intern doctor, the System’s screen only showed him four options: internal medicine, surgery, gynaecology, and pediatrics. However, he was apparently allowed to choose and focus on learning from only one of these four options.

Zhang Fan immediately started checking out his new System after he woke up. After several years of college life, Zhang Fan was quite accepting of anything unexpected like this that happened to him, so he didn’t panic when receiving a System unexpectedly.

Four major subjects, yet he would only be allowed to choose a single one, according to what his System told him. He would apparently only be allowed to choose a single subject to learn until he became an official doctor with his medical license. Zhang Fan was quite conflicted which to choose between internal medicine and surgery. He had already decided against gynaecology or pediatrics.

Since Zhang Fan was so busy working part-time jobs during medical school, his foundational knowledge was insufficient. If he chose internal medicine, he could improve his knowledge and make up for his weaknesses.

But, while Zhang Fan was previously interning at a hospital during his studies, he felt like he enjoyed surgery more. After much hesitation, Zhang Fan finally chose the surgery option.

After he chose surgery, the other three options in his System became grayed out and became unselectable. Two new options appeared under surgery: surgical clinical rehabilitation, and surgical clinical treatment. This time, the System allowed Zhang Fan to choose to study both.

Zhang Fan first decided to check out surgical clinical treatment. Hey! There were many more options under this category. Neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, urological surgery, and many others. Zhang Fan preferred orthopedic surgery as it was the simplest and most direct, having the most obvious effects.

After he chose orthopedic surgery, there were even more options once again. Spine, joints, injuries, and many others. Zhang Fan was overwhelmed by all the options.

He began to feel dizzy after seeing that there were so many options. He felt like that famous internet phrase “those who recommend others to learn medicine should die” was quite accurate right now.

There were far too many subjects to learn. This was also one of the objectives that future scientists had when inventing this System. This System was capable of swiftly improving a doctor’s medical talents instead of doctors requiring ten-plus years of work experience in order to truly become skilled.

If Zhang Fan wanted to learn the subjects under orthopedic surgery, he would first have to master the foundations of surgery. With his System’s guidance, Zhang Fan slowly started learning more about the fundamental basics of surgery.

Fluid infusion, anti-interference, and basic first aid for trauma. These were the three major categories of study under surgery for basic knowledge. Zhang Fan felt like he was about to collapse.

“Did I attend a fake medical school? I’ve never even seen some of these subjects in school before.” But since he personally chose this pitfall known as the medical field, he would go all the way down this path no matter what it took.

Not only was there his future work as an official doctor to worry about, his younger sister was almost about to attend college. Zhang Fan would be forced to try and earn money for his younger sister’s college tuition and living expenses.

As an older brother, Zhang Fan didn’t want to see his younger sister having to deal with how cold society could be, working for the sake of money at such an early age.

For the fundamentals, there were even countless surgical suture techniques to learn. Zhang Fan began to mentally learn everything in his mind.

The Super Medical Support System was capable of stimulating the cerebral ganglion in the brain to improve a person’s learning capabilities by 500%. Not only that, the System could also use nerve stimulation to stimulate the host’s muscles to give that doctor muscle memory on how to perform various surgeries.

Zhang Fan didn’t properly focus on his studies in his fifth and final year of medical college. He had only gone through the motions. He also knew nothing more than basics of medicine. He knew almost nothing about all the specifics.

Zhang Fan started learning every subject one by one, slowly learning about everything that the System deemed necessary. While his knowledge and learning efficiency indeed improved, this came at a cost of using up much of his energy, both physical and mental.

The plains in Kuake City were known as the largest plains in all of Asia. The entire area was approximately 1500-3000 meters above sea level, so it counted as mountainous. These plains were narrower from east to west and band-shaped. This area belonged to the Kunes River system, and was teeming with water. The Kunes River flowed from east to west, with a water flow of 158,900,000,000 cubic meters of water per year.

Due to influence from Siberian air masses and Arctic Ocean currents, the climate here was rather cool and humid. The annual precipitation was approximately 80 centimeters, and the average temperature was 8.5 degrees Celsius. During the best vacation season, the average temperature would be between 12.5-15.7 degrees Celsius.

Mount N was a nearby mountain that resembled a piece of green jade lying in the middle of the Kunes River system. This mountain was tall and majestic, mighty but not dominating, elegant and graceful. To the east of Mount N was Dadonggou, the greatest scenic area of the park here. Dadonggou went down almost ten kilometers at its lowest point. This place had beautiful mountains and clean water, with forest and grass everywhere in a scenic manner.

This riverside location was a perennially popular tourist location. With mountains, rivers, and deep canyons, you would be able to see steep cliffs on both sides in the bottom of the canyon. Strange rock formations stood tall everywhere, reaching even into the clouds. Mysterious caves were all over, with many waterfalls, ponds, and streams, all filled with the power and mystery of nature. It was a rare and excellent scenic location.

“Zhang Fan, wake up. We’re almost in the plains.” Li Hui, who was from the same S Province and L City as Zhang Fan, was seeing such a grand and beautiful plains for the first time, so he was rather excited. He ended up interrupting Zhang Fan’s studies in the System.

Although the plains were indeed beautiful, Zhang Fan was in no mood to appreciate nature right now. He still hadn’t fully recovered from yesterday’s hangover. And while he didn’t feel anything while studying mentally through his System, he suddenly felt great fatigue and hunger upon exiting his System interface.

Zhang Fan felt like he could eat an entire cow right now, or sleep for a full twenty-four hours if given a bed.

However, he now had a job as an intern doctor, so he knew he couldn’t be as willful as when he was a student. Zhang Fan gritted his teeth and followed everyone into the plains. Superintendent Batu had been highly skilled at making this a pretty advertisement involving the newcomer intern doctors. He even had the hospital staff prepare a large red banner saying: “Kuake City Hospital fresh college graduate rural experience.”

Before lunch, Batu had the seven new intern doctors stand together while holding this banner for a photograph to be used in advertisements for the hospital. Of course, the advertisement was only aimed at politicians since everyone was of course permitted to go to this hospital.

Before he received this System, Zhang Fan definitely would have tried to get closer to the superintendent and the various department directors, trying to make some connections. But now that he had a mysterious System, he no longer had any attention to spare for the hospital’s higher-ups. He concentrated only on his System.

Finally, it was time for lunch. Lunch was held in a tent, on a short rectangular table, with the local ethnicity hosting them. Everyone sat down in the tent in Indian style. Of course, there was still a carpet placed in the tent. The ethnic cuisine was mostly close to original, fresh, and direct.

Two entire barbequed goats were brought out whole. Kuake City’s local special ethnic cuisine, horse sausages, were also brought out together with chicken, beef, and various other common dishes. Zhang Fan felt like he was about to start drooling.

But when a server wearing ethnic clothes began to toast everyone using a silver bowl filled with wine, Zhang Fan was stunned yet again. Was he going to starve to death here if he had to drink alcohol again?
