Re: Apocalypse Game
chapter-129

[Weapon of Mass Destruction activate]

[Countdown started now]

[59:99]

As the countdown for the activation of the Weapon of Mass Destruction loomed ominously over them, the players grappled with their worst fear: failure to stop the dirty bomb. Not only would this result in the failure of their secondary objectives, but it would also lead to the deaths of hundreds of players.

Inside the factory, however, things weren't progressing as smoothly as they had planned. Despite securing the area and eliminating dozens of Nazi soldiers and elites, their path was obstructed by a heavily fortified section of the factory. It was a chokepoint defended by two Gatling gun-wielding Elite SS units, accompanied by two dozen melee-type SS. An upper-level balcony concealed more SS firearm elites who lurked behind its windows.

This objective seemed insurmountable even for veterans. Even a full company of 200 military players would likely be mowed down if they attempted to breach this heavily guarded area. The relentless defense of the Nazi forces was evident as three players had already fallen in futile attempts to enter, and it appeared that these elites were returning repeatedly, their HP seemingly endless.

Captain Farrell, the military intelligence officer, who had spent years studying the intricacies of the game, noted, "Someone or something is healing them!" His insight was crucial, indicating that there was more to the situation than met the eye.

Cachellos concurred with the captain's observation and emphasized the urgency of the situation. "Time is running out; we need to press forward!" The players faced a critical decision, knowing that they couldn't afford to remain bogged down in this seemingly unwinnable battle.

[WMD countdown: 51 minutes]

[1 hours and 42 minutes left till the end of the round]

[Updating current players: 2,641]

[Updating Nazi soldier: 3,433]

As the countdown for the Weapon of Mass Destruction continued, anxiety gripped the hearts of the players. Their precious time was slipping away, and they had no room for errors. The battlefield statistics showed the dwindling numbers of both players and Nazi soldiers, emphasizing the gravity of their mission.

However, there was another pressing concern, one that Cachellos, the leader of the Black Sand Mercenaries, was alluding to. Their prolonged exposure to the radiation zone had caused the radiation penalty to escalate to a dangerous level.

[You have been exposed to 300 Rad]

[Radiation level three: Max HP -30% & Stamina -30%]

This was the status of Alan and his team, shielded by their gas masks, fared better, only suffering the level three penalty. As for the other player, if they haven't took the [Redaway] medicine, they probably would already reach level four.

Alan promptly directed his group to consume the medicine, effectively resetting their radiation penalties to zero. Their vitality restored, they were now fully prepared for the impending final assault on the Nazi base.

Cachellos, in his role as the group leader, wasted no time in organizing the team. After assessing each member's abilities and strengths, he strategically assigned roles. Rose and Merle were tasked with handling the upper level, where formidable enemies awaited. Alan, Milo, and Lieutenant Marsh were selected for the charging team, which would take on the immediate threats head-on. The remaining members of Alan's group were instructed to provide cover and fend off any incoming Nazi reinforcements.

With the battle plan in place, Cachellos issued the order to attack, rallying his team with determination. "Let's go!"

The sense of urgency was palpable as they surged forward, their resolve unwavering despite the odds stacked against them.

With a well-coordinated strategy in place, Cachellos initiated the assault by deploying multiple [smoke grenades] into the chokepoint area. The thick smoke quickly enveloped the surroundings, obscuring the vision of the Nazi defenders and creating a temporary shield for the advancing team.

Sergeant Dylan moves forward with his own Gatling gun blazing

"Taste this mothefuker!!"

He created a temporary cover fire while four skilled members of the Black Sand Mercenaries activate their [Knight spirits], enhancing their defenses as they courageously block the incoming barrage of fire from the Nazi Gatling guns. The relentless onslaught of bullets pounded against their shields, but the defenders' efforts were valiant yet ultimately futile.

As the dual rapid heavy weapons of the Gatling gunners began to wear down the shields, the path to the enemy positions opened up for the close combatants. Seizing the opportunity, Cachellos surged forward with astonishing speed, his weapon of choice being two superior butcher knives. In a series of lightning-fast and deadly strikes, he swiftly incapacitated one of the gatling gunners, leaving them no chance to retaliate.

Meanwhile, the other gatling gunner found themselves surrounded and overwhelmed by the relentless assault of the two formidable wolf soldiers, Marcus and Jason. Together, they coordinated their attacks to neutralize this high-threat enemy combatant.

With the most dangerous adversaries now eliminated, Alan, along with Milo, Marsh, and a dozen other close combatants, leaped into action, charging headlong toward the remaining two dozen melee-type SS soldiers. The battleground was transformed into a whirlwind of close-quarters combat, where every swing of a blade and burst of gunfire would determine the outcome of this critical encounter.

Amidst the chaos and adrenaline of battle, Alan's swordsmanship shone with deadly finesse. His blade cut through the enemy ranks like a scythe through wheat, his strikes precise and lethal. With every swing, he expertly targeted weak points in the enemy's armor, dispatching them with ruthless efficiency.

Milo's approach was just as devastating. His punches were like thunderclaps, and with each blow, he sent Nazi elites sprawling. His immense strength, rivaling that of the veteran Black Sand Mercenary named Maddox, allowed him to overpower his foes with sheer force. The ground trembled beneath his feet as he delivered devastating punches that left craters in the factory floor.

Lieutenant Marsh, wielding his fierce hammer, added another layer of brutality to the melee. His swings were a display of controlled savagery, as the hammer crashed down on Nazi soldiers with bone-crushing impact.

Amidst the chaos and carnage of the battlefield, Cachellos continued to stand as an awe-inspiring force. His prowess in combat was undeniable, as he effortlessly engaged two Elite SS soldiers simultaneously without sustaining so much as a scratch on his battle-hardened body. Each strike he delivered was nothing short of deadly precision, and with his [Executioner Spirit], every enemy he vanquished only served to make him stronger. It was a testament to his unrivaled strength and skill, earning him the well-deserved title of the strongest player in the New York server.

As Cachellos carved his way through the enemy ranks, the remaining SS soldiers found themselves in a hopeless situation. The sheer ferocity and determination of their attackers left the Nazis with no chance to mount a meaningful defense, and their numbers dwindled at an alarming rate.

It was a harrowing few minutes, but the team fueled by determination and combat expertise, finally managed to overcome the elite SS soldiers who had stood in their way. Each adversary was swiftly dispatched, and as they fell, high-agility players leaped to the upper level, where the remaining firearms elites were positioned. Their nimble movements and precise shots left no room for the enemy to react, ensuring that the threat from above was neutralized before any healing could take place.

As the last of the enemy elites fell, Cade, a sharp-eyed mercenary archer spotted a group of Nazi soldiers attempting to flee the scene. With a skillful shot, he took down one of the retreating foes, while the others scrambled toward a reinforced steel door. Among them, two figures stood out—a Nazi officer and an individual clad in a lab coat.

"That must be the scientists!" Cade exclaimed, recognizing the significance of their discovery. However, their excitement was short-lived, as the thick steel door slammed shut before they could reach it.

"Dammit!" he cursed, realizing that they were now separated from their quarry. Urgency filled the air as they desperately tried to force the door open, their hearts pounding with the knowledge that time was running out.

Just then, a notification flashed in their minds once more, a stark reminder of the deadly countdown they faced:

[You have been exposed to Radiation]

It was a race against time—a race to either defuse the bomb and thwart the Nazis' sinister plan or succumb to the insidious effects of the radiation poisoning, a threat that loomed ever larger with each passing moment.
