Chapter 360 - XinYun was even nicer to Kuaikuai after the incident. (2)
Zhang Meixia cried so much that her eyes had swollen up. “That person told me that with your mother’s influence, even if you are thrown in jail, she will be able to get you back out.
“But if I don’t do what I did, my life ends there.” She even thought about committing suicide during her most desperate moment. She regretted a lot how she ended up spending so much money like she had completely lost her mind.
“You are still young. Even if your reputation had been tarnished, you can be easily forgiven if your attitude is sincere and carried out a few charity acts.”It had crossed her mind to ask Li XinYun for a loan but her pride finally stopped her. She didn’t know others to find out how much she had borrowed. During their normal conversations in the past, she had always expressed how contemptuous she felt toward those who’d turn to loan sharks for money.
It was certainly faceslapping when it happened to her. She didn’t think she even added that much. It would be a walk in the park for XinYun to quit in the future. She really wasn’t as bad as they thought.
Li XinYun felt that she never knew this friend of hers. The way Zhang Meixia cried so righteously made her look like a stranger to her.
Li XinYun was so mad that she burst out laughing. “Oh, is that so? Is it okay to set me up because I am richer than you? You are naturally on the right because you are poor?
“You could have asked me for a loan if money was what you needed. I would be willing to help you out. Nevertheless, you chose to set me up instead. You never considered me a friend, have you?”
“What you have done was illegal,” said a female cop. “You can be sentenced to up to three years in jail for defrauding others into using drugs.”
Zhang Meixia was stunned. More tears streamed down her cheeks. “XinYun, please forgive me. I don’t know what I was thinking. Help me, please……“I don’t want to go to jail.” Zhang Meixia sobbed.
Her life would be ruined if she received a jail sentence. The thought of that sent a chill down Zhang Meixia’s spine.
She regretted her actions now.
Mediation was out of the question. Not in this lifetime. Li XinYun was the one whose life was almost ruined.
She gave her mother a call and let her know of the incident.
Everybody else walked out of the police station with the exception of Zhang Meixia after they had provided their statements.
Cheng Yan looked at Li XinYun. She wanted to comfort her but she didn’t even know where to start. Surely Zhang Meixia looked very pitiful but none of them could ask XinYun to forgive her.
Nobody wanted to be the person to ask someone else to be a saint. Nobody had expected that their fun event would have ended this way.
She struggled for a bit and finally said, “We are glad that you are alright.”
Li XinYun lowered her eyes. “Yeah, our pet averted a catastrophe for me.”
Looking at her, Cheng Yan felt that it wasn’t easy being a rich person. They had to always be cautious about the malevolence from their competitors. Now they finally experienced first hand how evil these people could get.
Li XinYun tightened her lips a bit and said, “Sorry to have ruined your fun today.”
“Don’t say that. You are the biggest victim here.”
“Yeah, who would have thought that Meixia would do such a thing?”
They had been schoolmates and known each other for years. Nobody was happy that such a thing had happened. Nobody else was in the mood to go back to karaoke so they parted ways.
Li XinYun, too, returned home.
Fang JunRong stroked her on her head and said, “We will need to examine everything that we eat going forward.”
Looking sad, Li XinYun said, “I understand. Mom, who do you think could be behind this incident?”
“Let’s wait for the cops to find out,” said Fang JunRong.
