[Mass Release 3/5]

Kana and Mary were making their way down the twisting paths of the dungeon. Some areas were old ancient hallways, while others seemed to be created by the monsters that lived there. So far, they had only run into goblins. Low level goblins with sticks. Nothing too challenging since Kana and Mary could easily dispatch them without much trouble. So far, they had walked around for an entire day, from what they could tell. With no outside light to tell whether it was day or night, telling the actual time was not easy. "We should set camp here and sleep in shifts." Kana suggested.

The area they were in was a small room. That they had decided to check out, it had an old wooden chest inside full of useless junk. But other than that, the room seemed to be a perfect camping spot since it had a door to it. "Finally!" Mary plopped her butt on the ground and spread her legs out in front of her. She was very tired.

"We do not know what time it is, so we will need to rest when we can and make our own schedule. This way, we do not get too messed up on our time. And we will need to make use of all the time we can. So when we are not sleeping, we will be killing monsters and advancing through the dungeon." Kana had already planned things out to a point. She wanted to make use of all the time she could to get through this dungeon. "As for food…. Well… I only got so much in my backpack, so goblins might be on the menu if we do not make it to a floor with some decent monsters to eat."

"Eugh… Just thinking about eating them makes me feel sick, but I know we will have no choice..." Mary made a disgusted face, hearing she might need to eat goblins, but she knew they might not have a choice.

"I will take the first shift, so try to get some rest, Mary." Kana said as she walked over to the door and leaned against it. She was not tired at all, even after moving her body all day, but Mary was different than her. She did not seem to have a system.

But even so, Kana was very impressed with Mary. Not once did she complain until it was time to rest. She could also see that Mary was getting even better at fighting as they went on. It seemed she had a talent for combat. Kana watched as Mary closed her eyes and quickly fell asleep. Kana opened her menu and looked at her stats, and let out a sigh. The experience she was getting so far was not even enough to come close to gaining a level. "I hope the lower levels will be a bit better." She did not mind tough battles if it meant she could gain some actual experience points that were worth the time and effort. So far, she was very disappointed in this dungeon.

After some time, Kana switched shifts with Mary and took a nap. After she woke up, the two had a few Kana's rations and then washed their faces and rinsed their mouths out before going back to exploring the dungeon. Goblin after goblin came charging at them as they made their way deeper into the first level of the dungeon. At some point, the goblins' weapons changed from sticks to rusted daggers and bows, which made the fights a bit more interesting.

Instead of ending the fights quickly, Kana allowed Mary to use this as training. She did not help during these fights unless one was trying to sneak up on Mary. Aoi would play around with the goblins by flying around them and squirting water into their eyes. She had to do something since Kana told her not to interfere in Mary's battle too much.

After five days of exploring around the first level, Kana and Mary came to a large metal door with runic markings all over it. Kana looked at the door and already knew this was what they were looking for. "We will rest here. I have a feeling the boss of this floor is behind this door."

"Okay. But Kana, do we really have to eat this…." Mary pulled out a green leg that was harvested off one of the fattest goblins that they had come across. They had already gone through all the dried rations that Kana and brought with her. So now they were going to be forced to eat the monsters they found within the dungeon.

"We have no choice. It's either that or we starve. It will be cooked anyway, so it's no big deal." Kana said as she took the leg from Mary. She then opened her mouth and spat out a stream of fire from it as she slowly turned the leg. After about fifteen minutes of slowly roasting the leg, a smell that made Mary's stomach turn filled the area.

"It doesn't smell too good, but it is fully cooked here." Kana ripped off a huge chunk of meat and handed it to Mary. Mary, who had worked the hardest all day, grumbled as she bit into the meat. But when she did, she was surprised that it actually did not taste half bad.

"It stinks, but it tastes okay. At least I won't puke it back up for now." Mary said with a faint smile as she began devouring the meat.

Kana joined her and began eating as well. In no time at all, the leg was gone. Kana took out another leg and roasted it as well. Since they were about to fight a boss, Kana wanted to make sure they had the energy to do so. Once the second leg was devoured, Kana let Mary sleep while she kept watch. She did not know how strong the boss would be. But she did hope it would drop a sword. She did pick up one of the rusty daggers from the goblins, but it was still not a sword.
