Kana walked silently behind Senior Miyu. They walked one old, one young through the facility to the far back exit of the facility that led to a trail that went further up the mountain. It was not until they left the facility that Senior Miyu finally broke the silence. "You are probably wondering why I stopped you back there."

"I am but not as much as to why we are leaving the facility." Kana did not understand why she was leaving the facility. But she did make sure she stayed vigilant. She did not know if this old woman was out to kill her or not.

Senior Miyu did not let Kana's actions go unnoticed, she was an old monster herself, after all. "It's good to be vigilant. But you do not need to worry just yet. The reason I stopped you earlier was because we did not have the staff to clean up the mess. And a second reason was because the elite facility is not enough to train you. Where we are going is what we like to call death forest. Only those we feel might survive this training are allowed to go here. While I say this, the survival rate is no more than one percent."

"So it's basically a forest with a bunch of wild animals in it, right?" Kana asked.

"No… Not animals..." Senior Miyu turned and smiled at Kana. "You could call them monsters."

Kana rolled her eyes. If only this old lady knew what a real monster was. Senior Miyu let out a laugh, seeing Kana's reaction. "You see, the government is always doing secret experiments. Sometimes these experiments are based on genetics and well lab created DNA. They will use their own created DNA and splice it into the DNA of animals. This can result in creating a whole new species of animal never seen in this world. The location we are going to is one of the pens used to dump failed experiments. The problem is, is that these animals were not supposed to be able to reproduce, but they still have and in great numbers. In a radius of one hundred kilometers, there is a habitat that is enclosed with a secret technology that has never been seen before.

"Normally, this place is not to be disturbed be entered by humans and is heavily guarded, but our organization is a special case. Since we technically do not exist, there is no reason for us to use such a place to train our people." Senior Miyu explained. They had come to a small path where a vehicle was waiting. The person in the driver's seat was someone Kana knew really well.

"You haven't even been here a week, and you already caused such a stir." Instructor Shelly said with a smile.

"They wanted to kill me first." Kana said, pursing her lips.

"Yes, I know. Well, at least this time, things will be a bit more of a challenge for you." Instructor Shelly said with a laugh.

"Enough, Shelly, let's get going." Senior Miyu replied sternly.

"Yes, Ma'am!" Instructor Shelly saluted and quickly started to drive. Kana chuckled slightly and was kind of excited to see just what kind of place she was about to be dumped into.

They drove until almost night fall deep into the mountains. The off road vehicle was barely able to make it along some of the twists and turns as they navigated over steep cliffs on the sides of the mountains. But hidden between two mountain peaks in a deep valley out of sight from prying eyes was a section of forest that was quarantined off by a kind of barrier.

When Kana saw this barrier, she couldn't help but sigh. Kana, who grew up on the street, was not sure if Earth's technology was advanced enough to pull off such a thing. But what lay beyond that barrier was a tall building made of some kind of metal. Senior Miyu took out her cell phone and dialed a number: "It's me, lower the gate."

Kana did not see a gate anywhere near them, but that was when she realized she made a wrong assumption. The thing she thought was a building suddenly started moving and lowering towards them. The large metal object slowly made its way to the barrier, but instead of being blocked, it actually pierced through the barrier and lowered all the way to the ground. That was when Kana saw that the metal object was some kind of tunnel. Instructor Shelly did not lower her speed at all and kept driving and entered the tunnel.

Senior Miyu saw that Kana was curiously looking around and decided to explain what was going on. "The barrier keeps the monsters in. This passage or tunnel, whatever you wish to call it, is made of a special material. It is able to interfere with the barrier's energy allowing us to pass through. I do not know much more about it but let's just say even a nuclear bomb could not destroy this barrier."

Kana nodded her head in appreciation. She wished she had this kind of technology for the Rural Kingdom and its lands. It would keep all those out that should be kept out. Instructor Shelly continued to drive until they seemed to arrive in a large indoor parking lot. Once they found a place to park, everyone alighted from the vehicle and followed Senior Miyu. They passed through a door that opened out to a balcony that looked out over the canopies of treetops. Kana could see huge birds off in the distance flying through the sky.

"What you see out there is your training grounds. You will sleep in the guest quarters tonight, have a good meal, shower, and then you will take a small pack of rations that will last a few days and enter the forest. Your only goal out there is to survive. You will be out there for five months. Until the elite training has been concluded. Only then will you be allowed to return. Instructor Shelly and I will be following your every movement. If you do indeed survive, we will then grade you on your abilities. Only after the grade is finalized will you be given a rank within the organization. I can only wish you luck." Senior Miyu explained. She then turned to instructor Shelly and ordered: "Shelly take her to go get cleaned up first and a fresh set of clothes. We can't have her walking around the base covered in blood."
