--An: Bonus Chapter 6/14
"Hoho? So you have finally accepted your fate as her eternal son?" An old man's voice came from behind Little Cal, causing him to freeze.
Little Cal slowly turned around and saw the smiling face of that old bastard and gritted his teeth as he questioned: "You actually came down here?"
"I have to. After all, I set her out to become the first Goddess of War. Although I never did expect her to become the Goddess of Beginning first." The old man stroked his beard and patted Little Cal on the head. "But to think someone so old is now reduced to playing the role of a child."
"Old man, did you come down here just to speak nonsense?" Little Cal hated this old man because of how he acted!"No, I came down here because of her. I need to make sure nothing happens to her, or her mother may just kill me." The old man said grimly. He knew more than anyone how overprotective Kana was of her kids.
"What is she, your illegitimate child!?" Little Cal suddenly had a bad feeling. He hoped it was not true, or else he would end up becoming this old man's grandson! It seemed the high and mighty god of war had truly fallen into the act of being a little boy and son to Yana.
"No! I dare not even mention such a thing. Even that would get me killed. Anyway. Are you sure about this? You know your powers will disappear, and you will truly become weak again if she succeeds." The old man asked. He gazed at his old friend with a bit of concern.
"Yeah, it's fine. She passed the trial, after all. And all these years, I have always wanted to rid myself of this title. But if she does pass, the birth of a new kind of goddess will come to be. One that was not created by you." Little Cal answered.
"That is true. This is what makes things so interesting when it comes to life. Once it is created, what happens after can be very unexpected. Plus. Soon my role will be passed on as well. As for you… You seem to already be fitting in quite your new role." The old man said teasingly.
"That is true. But getting rid of this title will also mean I can finally age. Having her as a mother is not too bad, I think." Little Cal said with a smile.
Seeing Little Cal's eyes turn warm, the old man was a little surprised but also nodded his head in agreement. "All of her children are just like her. They are all kind and caring to those they take in as their people.""She is very caring." Little Cal agreed.
While the two were chatting outside. Yana arrived at a room made of blue glowing stone. In the center was a blue glowing ball floating in mid air with streaks of dense lightning sparking out of it. "So this is the true trial..." Yana thought, seeing the dense lightning coming off the blue glowing ball.
"Step forward and prove yourself." An archaic voice sounded within the room. Originally when Little Cal was brought to this place by the old man there was no outside trial. The path to the palace was clear, and anyone could make their way up it. The war gods trial only came after he got sick of people picking on him due to his looks, and that was because by him giving up his godhood to another, he would then be able to age once more. But the true trial to really gain his inheritance was to touch this orb and enter the illusionary realm. But to even touch the orb, one would need to be able to endure the pain that came with it.
Yana walked over to the orb with no fear or hesitation as she reached out and touched the orb. As soon as she did, the dense lightning came shooting at her all at once. The streaks were as big as her, but even in the face of such a threat, she only gave it a side glance as it struck her body. Well, it should have. Her power of gravity had already formed a protective barrier around her body, bending time and space, causing the arcs of lightning to curve around her, never once touching her body. With her hand still on the blue orb, her body vanished from the room.
With her scenery changing, she arrived in a field of death. Dead bodies were piled up all around her, and even the ground she walked on was dead bodies. But even with such a grotesque scene, Yana paid it no mind as she walked towards the pyramid in front of her. She could see many people killing each other trying to climb the steps. But it was not just the people one had to look out for but also the tall guardians that stood hundreds of meters tall with six arms, each carrying large axes. They mowed down any person as they got close to the pyramid.
Yana knew what she was seeing was an illusion as there was no smell of death in the air and her mind was clear. She still had all her senses except for what she was seeing. And this already made her frown. "I need to grow stronger if my vision is being affected by an illusion."
She began to think of ways to fix her vision issue so that no one could use a simple trick to get the edge of her in battle. One thing she did not take into account for was the fact that the only sense she had lost was her vision. Even Little Cal had lost all his senses except the sense of taste. That was the only reason he was able to pass this trial was because he still had his senses of taste, whereas Yana only lost her sight. But in Yana's mind, she was never strong enough, to begin with, which made her always want to strive to be stronger.
