--AN: Bonus Chapter 3/8--

Kana took the chance of the distraction and turned into her smaller dragon form and quickly and swiftly got up under the nap of the rock lion's neck, opened her mouth wide, and chomped down! The taste of iron filled her mouth as she dug her claws of all four paws into the rock lion's neck, ripping and tearing at its skin. The pain in her right side was raging throughout her body, but she ignored it and continued to bite and pull mouthful after mouthful of flesh off the rock lion's neck.

The rock lion roared out in pain and fear. It never thought that its prey would suddenly become the hunter. It was actually being eaten alive, which was one of the biggest fears of any demonic beast. The rock lion struggled, but Kana refused to let go. She knew if she did, she would not gain this chance again. Her white scaled snot and face were completely dyed red. If one were to look at her now, they would not think that she was someone who once was human in her past life. She looked like any other beast of the forest.

Kana continued to rip and tear chunks of flesh off the rock lion until its painful roars slowly began to diminish. Its body began to go limp as it slumped to the ground. It had no energy to continue fighting nor move. It just wished its death would come faster. Kana released her grip on the rock lion and limped over to where her sword was sticking in the ground, and drew it out with her paw. She then turned back around and slowly walked back over to the rock lion. She looked the rock lion in its good eye and saw the look pleading in its eye, asking for death, and sighed.

Kana felt bad. She did not like torturing anything in such a way. She did not wish to make the rock lion suffer any longer as she raised her sword and finished the job. She then wiped the blood on her snot and bowed her head: "I am sorry it had to be such a slow, painful death."

The battle just now was not an easy one. If she had not used her brain and distracted the rock lion, she would have been the one who would have died. This was the law of this world, survival of the fittest. She also now understood that she severely underestimated this place. While the pressure on the body was heavy, the strength of the monsters was also beyond their normal ranks. This rock lion could easily have been a rank two or three with its skills and power alone.

"Nana!" Kana suddenly remembered that Liu Na was fighting the other one and turned, dragging her hurt body towards the location Liu Na was last in. When she arrived, she saw puddles of blood, causing her to feel very worried. "Nana!? Nana, where are you!?"

"Here..." A soft voice came out. Kana turned towards the sound of the voice to see a young girl limping towards her. She also had to fight for her life. But she was much more experienced than Kana when fighting demonic beasts, so she was able to pull off a slim victory. Her left arm and leg looked like they had been mangled by the rock lion as she used her sword as a crutch to make her way over to Kana.

"We both survived." Kana transformed back into her human form and hugged Liu Na with her left arm, her right arm dangling at her side. The bones had shattered from being hit by the rock lion. Some of her ribs were also broken as well. She had really taken a strong hit.

"We did..." Liu Na began to tear up. She had truly fought for her life for the first time. She had always been guarded by Yi Tan, who would take the brunt of all the bad things, and now facing such a reality where she truly had to struggle for her life and came so close to death so many times she knew she was lacking in real world experience. "Let me give you a healing pill. But first, we should find a safe place. Standing out in the open with so much blood will be bad. I will store the rock lion bodies as well. We will need them."

"They also have beast cores, so I will need those for cultivation," Kana added. The skin could be used for protection from the cold, and since a lot of it was plated, it could double as armor.

"I have a curing potion that will make the skin good enough to make armor with. But we will need to create the armor ourselves. I can probably do it as I have a bit of training in armament making." Liu Na explained as she touched the body of the rock lion and sucked it into her space pouch.

"Then I will leave it to you." Kana also asked if she could watch the process later, which Liu Na agreed to instantly.

But first, they had to find a safe location to hide in. Luckily for them it did not take long to find a small cave at the base of the mountain outside the tree line. They had originally planned to go deeper in, but now that they were injured, they decided it was best to retreat. It seemed that those who came before had made a few caves to rest in that were safe as they had protection arrays from the outside weather and kept their scent from escaping outwards. Liu Na noticed them immediately and did not hesitate to use a spirit stone to power in the array core to power it.

It was only then that they truly got a chance to learn back and rest after such a harsh encounter. They both leaned against the cave walls and took their healing pills before entering a state of cultivation. Only by circulating spiritual qi around their bodies would the healing pills' medicinal properties truly take effect.
