“So what happened, hyung-nim? Did you work everything out?” Park Deok-Gu asked.

“Can’t you tell? It worked out very well,” I answered.

Ah…

“What?” I asked.

It had been a day since I had a slightly serious conversation with Kim Hyun-Sung. Park Deok-Gu spoke while packing, “It’s nothing. It was just a bit unexpected. By the way, how’s our bro?”

I wasn’t sure how to describe it, but Kim Hyun-Sung seemed a bit discouraged yesterday. It was as if he was possessed by a spirit from his past life. I didn’t know what Jo Hye-Jin meant to Kim Hyun-Sung, but he must have realized that he was making a mistake. I understand she made a good impression while I was gone, but it was unreasonable for him to put her in a key position without persuading me first. His excuse was that he was doing it for me, but being extremely conscious about his past didn’t make him look good and in the end, he realized his mistake…

‘He kind of looked like a puppy.’

He really did look like a puppy and I was sure he expected a positive answer from me. I really wanted to praise him, but right now, cutting down Jo Hye-Jin’s authority would make it easier for me to move. At the very least, I had to maintain this status until team leader Kim Mi-Young was done with her work. The reason I gave for rejecting her was that she hadn't completely fit in with the guild just yet and setting her skills aside, there were rumors that Jo Hye-Jin and Kim Hyun-Sung were in a relationship so it was a very convincing reason. Of course, there was an even stranger rumor spreading right now, but the misunderstanding regarding my relationship with Kim Hyun-Sung would be resolved with time.

‘He probably doesn’t know about it, though...’

Even if I exclude my personal opinion, it wasn’t the best time to give Jo Hye-Jin a key position.

‘Being too biased in the first place isn’t good…’

Basically, I was more than enough to be in that position within the Blue Guild and as I looked at Park Deok-Gu, I replied to him, “He seemed a bit disappointed, but he still accepted it.”

“That’s a relief, but…”

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“It’s nothing. It’s just a bit interesting to see you two having different opinions. Ahem,” he answered with a cough.

“There wasn’t really any conflict between us,” I told him.

“No way! I’ve heard the rumors…” Park Deok-Gu mumbled.

“What did you hear?” I asked.

“Well, aside from what the female guild employees were saying, I heard you and the bro fought each other. You two were supposedly fighting in the cafeteria. Is that true?” he asked.

Oh…

“Wait, wait! Did you actually quarrel?” he asked.

“It wasn’t that big of a deal. You don’t have to worry because we didn’t fight and it was just a misunderstanding. I was a bit disappointed that he made an important decision like that on his own and that he only told me at the last second…” I explained.

“So…”

“He apologized and everything is back to normal now. If I continued to reject Jo Hye-Jin, then I’m sure there will be conflict. Of course, that won’t really happen because she’s competent and the guild needs someone like her. Oh! Don’t go telling people about our conversation…” I warned him.

“Of course! My lips are sealed,” he said with a grin.

“Did you pack everything we prepared?” I asked.

“Almost everything,” he answered.

“I can check it, right?” I asked with a smile.

“W-Wait, give me some time,” he stuttered.

“We haven’t gone on a long expedition for a while so we shouldn’t make any mistakes,” I told him.

When I looked around, I saw people preparing for the expedition. Park Deok-Gu was quickly packing items while snooping around while Hwang Jung-Yeon was assisting him. Jung Ha-Yan, Sun Hee-Young, and Kim Ye-Ri were also busy packing their bags. The majority of the party members were surprised when we suddenly told them that we were leaving for Castle Rock, but since they were experienced, they managed to load everything we needed in the carriage in time.

The guild members were busier than the party members and I could hear loud noises everywhere.

“Are you sure you got the supplies there?” Park Joong-Ki asked.

“Yes, sir. The last one just went out.”

“Okay, so… the alchemy kit, consumable catalysts, and the spare equipment were placed in the storage,” he mumbled.

“Include the griffon’s food, too,” I ordered.

“Okay…”

“Cast basic protection magic on the items so they won’t go bad and tell the team to be on standby while I check the items again,” I told him.

“Yes, sir.”

This was why we created and paid for the expedition support team’s salary. It was nice seeing them prepare everything for the expedition without me having to check for every little detail.

“Excuse me, sir. I heard this expedition was going to be a long one, but I think this is a lot of items. You have a lot to purchase from Castle Rock and… the supplies are over the budget…” a guild staff member said.

“The guild master requested them himself, so just get the items listed there. Our job isn’t to be curious and ask questions. Our job is to deliver the supplies without any issues,” Park Joong-Ki replied.

“Yes, sir.”

It was true that there were a lot more supplies this time compared to our other expeditions, but I was sure Park Joong-Ki understood very well. He couldn’t say anything since the guild master himself gave the order, but I also thought it was strange how there were a lot more supplies than normal. But I discovered why after considering the situation in Castle Rock. I wasn’t sure if the people at Castle Rock knew what was happening to their city right now, but Kim Hyun-Sung said that something was definitely going to happen in Castle Rock.

‘A new dungeon? A monster wave? A named monster?’

While looking at the supplies, I immediately found the answer.

‘It’s so obvious, Hyun-Sung…’

It was natural to be prepared for anything since we were moving far from Lindel, but preparing thousands of arrows for Kim Ye-Ri, who wasn’t just an archer, would make anyone feel flustered and it wasn’t just the arrows… Even the potion factory was working hard to fulfill the quantity Kim Hyun-Sung had requested for the basic HP potion. At this point, it became obvious what was going to happen in Castle Rock because it felt like we were preparing for a big battle. As Kim Hyun-Sung said, I was sure it was to prepare for any situation, but I realized this wasn't a simple dungeon capture when I saw that he, someone who knew the future, was overly preparing.

‘It’s a monster wave or a raid.’

Personally, I was leaning more toward the monster wave and even though I felt anxious, I was looking forward to it. If Kim Hyun-Sung was personally going to a dangerous place, then it meant the reward was that great.

“We’ll probably get a lot of experience points, right?” I said to myself.

“Sorry?”

Oh, it’s nothing. Have you packed everything, Miss Hee-Young?” I asked.

“Yes, I packed all my personal belongings,” she answered.

“What about the others?” I asked.

“Everyone is done packing and I checked Ye-Ri’s and Miss Ha-Yan’s bags myself. I think Miss Hye-Jin is also done, so we should be good to go,” she said.

“That’s good. Then I’ll tell our guild master that we’re all ready to go,” I told her.

“Okay...”

They were all good to go. Now, all I had to do was check the supplies.

“Team leader Park Joong-Ki.” I called out.

“Sub guild master.”

“I trust that you’ve prepared everything on the list without any issues.”

“Yes, but since the preparations are so sudden, there are a few missing items. Of course, once the potions are made, we’ll make sure it’s sent to Castle Rock right away. I would like to check one last time, but are you sure you want us to send all of these supplies?” he asked, confirming.

“Yes, team leader Park Joong-Ki. Please make sure there are no mistakes. Actually, if there’s room, please send additional supplies. Thank you for your hard work. Oh! If we need to add more items later, I’ll send a carrier pigeon and let you know,” I told him.

“Okay…”

Everything was prepared and Kim Hyun-Sung appeared at the perfect time, so I didn’t need to run over to him and report about the expedition preparations because the carriage was ready to leave.

“We can leave now, Mr. Hyun-Sung,” I said.

“Okay, thank you for your help. You didn’t need to come out and check everything…” he whispered.

“I get anxious if I don’t check everything myself,” I told him with a smile.

“I feel reassured having you here, Mr. Ki-Young,” he said.

‘Of course, you do...’

“It wasn’t a difficult task. There will be a total of 13 people in the expedition party. It’ll be me, Hwang Jung-Yeon, Park Deok-Gu, Jung Ha-Yan, Sun Hee-Young, Kim Ye-Ri, Jo Hye-Jin, and five guild staff members. Excluding the potions that still need to be made, the remaining have been loaded on the carriage and after they finish making the remaining potions, they’ll send another carriage over to us,” I explained.

“Okay...”

“Counselor Lee Sang-Hee, team leader Kim Mi-Young, and the other team leaders will take care of the guild,” I added.

“Got it. Let’s head out then.” Kim Hyun-Sung nodded.

“Sure…”

After the guild members got on the carriage, I started moving as well. It’d be quicker if I rode my griffon, but it would take some time to arrive in Castle Rock by carriage. We had supplies we needed to take with us and the ride to Castle Rock wasn’t going to be a smooth one. It was a pretty stable place, so considering the fact that we didn’t have to worry about monsters ambushing us, this was nothing more than going on a picnic. I was sure that we would arrive there in no time and I could rest in the meantime.

“It has been a while since we’ve been on an expedition; I’m getting excited,” Park Deok-Gu said.

“We didn’t come out to have fun, so keep your guard up. You can rest until we reach Castle Rock,” I told him.

Ahem, hyung-nim, don’t you think you’re being too strict?” he asked.

Hahahaha.”

Kim Hyun-Sung laughed at Park Deok-Gu’s words. There was a calm after the storm and it applied to both Kim Hyun-Sung and me. I wasn’t sure if it was just me, but I felt like our relationship had gotten stronger. I couldn’t help but laugh after recalling how flustered he look yesterday. I knew Kim Hyun-Sung wasn’t a bad person, but after yesterday’s incident, I became even more confident in him.

There were a lot of things I had to do. I had to find out more about Jo Hye-Jin and distribute the potion I made. Not only did I have to meet with Lady Marilyn, but I might even have to visit the shrine. I wasn’t sure if there was going to be a monster wave or a named monster, but I also had to handle the issues surrounding the city itself, but out of all of those tasks, there was one that was a bit more important than the others.

‘Hyun-Sung, this hyung will make sure you don’t get backstabbed...’

Just then…

‘What?’
