Outside the three-star hotel, five figures were hiding in the dark and moving around the boundaries of the building from time to time.

Both their speed and their movements seemed to be agile and accurate, something that normal human beings were definitely not capable of doing.

They jumped down from compounds several feet high. They climbed up the tall grown trees with ease and they prowled in the silence of the night with extreme vigilance keeping an eye on everything that they could possibly observe.

Surprisingly, among the five figures, one of the figures was carrying a kind of chubby tabby cat in her arms.

Meow. The cat suddenly purred breaking the silent darkness and Alex almost stumbled and lost her balance. "Coco shush." She hushed the cat which innocently cocked its head to the side.

Alex sighed and rubbed her head. It was not like she could be annoyed with the cute thing. It was in fact, the only remnant of anything warm and loving leftover in the new bloodthirsty world.

"Are you tired, baby? Do you want to go inside and sleep comfortably?" She rubbed her head and petted the cat.

Alex still did not understand why the dog had shoved the cat in her arms as she was heading out to keep a watch, but she knew better than to question little white.

Undoubtedly, they had only survived so far thanks to that single dog or wolf?

Its appearance these days was constantly changing and it was very difficult to keep track of it. She wouldn't even be surprised if the big black dog all of a sudden sprouted wings tomorrow.

Alex petted the small cat again and then once again continued to circle around the building. The five of them kept constantly moving, no one daring to slack off in the slightest.

Though everything appeared to be peaceful right now because they had spent the last few hours clearing the whole city almost, only a few seconds were needed for things to instantly change upside down.

"Alex. Alex." Someone suddenly called and Alex turned back to look. Xiao Ming, one of the women from the group of survivors came rushing towards her.

She was one of the people who had somehow managed to bounce back really quickly from the terrible tragedy they had suffered through.

"Slow down, Ming Ming. What happened? Did you see any zombies?"

"I think… Huff… I think… huff… there might be something out there." The woman was out of breath and she squeezed out her words in between her gasps.

While these two were talking another person who was also on the front side of the hotel walked up to the two women wondering if something was happening.

This person was none other than Qiang who had been with their group at the beginning but then chose to stay behind in the stadium, unlike Luo Zu who had decisively left with them.

At that time, he had even thought of Luo Zu as being stupid for choosing the smaller group rather than the bigger group. However, right now, he had no such delusions.

He had been lucky enough to survive, still retaining all his limbs and he counted that as a blessing and decided to never leave Luo Zu's or rather the dog's side ever again.

Alex waved her hand, asking him to get over to them faster, and then handed the tabby cat to him.

"Qiang, can you keep an eye on that side and hold onto Coco for me? Ming Ming saw something over there. I will go with her and check it out."

"Umm… Big sis, should I alert someone inside first?"

"Big sis??" Alex furrowed her brows. She was only twenty something and it was weird being addressed by others probably of her same age in this way.

Ah… Qiang immediately got flustered.

Alex shook her head helplessly and decided to let it go. "It's alright. I don't think we need to disturb them yet. We will just take a quick look and come back."

Alex and Xiao Ming jumped off the high compound wall of the hotel and headed to the next street where the slight disturbance was heard.

The two women had tall and lean figures and their long hair whipped in the wind as they hurriedly dashed forward.

Alex had absorbed a considerable amount of mana cores and Xiao Ming had also absorbed a few. Though both of them did not have any special abilities, their speed was quite good.

Within just a few seconds, they had reached the cluster of buildings.

It was just a normal residential area and the sound that they had heard came from one of the independent houses, more specifically from the car garage.

Alex raised a finger placing it on her lips and then signaled Xiao Ming to stand on the side.

She walked closer to the garage door cautiously. Whatever was inside did not look like it was capable of coming outside.

So she got even closer and kept her ears on the garage door, trying to listen in.

"Anyone there?" She muttered just to be sure, though she could already tell that the person on the other side was probably not human.

If they were human, they would have already yelled out 'HELP' instead of simply banging.

And surely, even after a few seconds, she had spoken, no reply came out and only the frequency of the banging had increased instead. This was definitely a zombie!

Alex pushed her ears closer and observed cautiously for a few more seconds.

"Ming Ming. There is a zombie inside and there seems to be only one. I am going to now slowly lift this garage door up. Whatever is on the inside will immediately come out."

"Can you deal with the guy?" Alex asked her, enunciating her every word. She looked at the slender and fragile girl in front of her.

Xiao Ming licked her lips nervously, but she didn't hesitate. "Yes, I can do it."
