Chapter 356
356 – Fighting Power Check
The following day, I wake up in the nesting hole. Aro, who was sitting on my head, jumps to the floor. I crawl out of the nest and meet the nightmare’s eyes as it sits in a web strung overhead branches. It moves from its web to a branch, then from the branch the trunk and descends.
I look down at the ground beneath the giant tree. Various monsters can be seen flying around the trunk.
A huge eagle’s head and a lion’s body… That must be a griffon. It looks pretty strong. Fortunately it doesn’t seem to have noticed us and isn’t coming this way. I shift my focus beyond the griffon, towards the base of the tree.…Inside the ruins in the roots, letters from my previous world are carved. There has to be some sort of clue related to my previous world in there.
I haven’t got any memories, and it’s not like I particularly want to return. Rather than those who I have no memories of, right now Aro and the others are far more important to me. If I can’t have them both, then I really would be fine with my memories not returning.
But that’s not to say I haven’t got any curiosity about my place in this world. If clues are dangled in front of my nose, then of course I’m going to chase after them.
Glancing to the side, I see Aro next to me also looking down. A short while later, treant-san emerges from the nesting hole, holding a hand-like branch over its mouth to stifle a yawn… It somehow gives an impression unreliability.
After passing through the mortal combat with the strange siren birds, Aro and the others’ statuses have shot up.

Aro has gone up all the way from level 1 to 14. It’s a spectacular 13 level ups. She used so much powerful magic and such precise judgement calls that you wouldn’t at all think she was only level 1. At this rate, she’ll hit the maximum level in no time. Once her status rises a bit more, she’ll be in the same league as the giant centipede and the mother.
Up to now she’s always been receiving my support, but now she’s caught up to being just one rank below me. Her achievements have shown that, in this world, high firepower magic types can inflict heavy wounds even to higher rank opponents as long as they have MP to spend. If her level continues to rise like this, she’ll soon be able to put out attack with even more firepower than I can. There’s no doubt about it, Aro is the key to breaking through the adams in the ruins. When I first saw her, I would never have imagined she would become this strong.

The nightmare went up 4 levels. The reason its level didn’t rise as much as Aro’s even though they both did their best was probably because the single-digit levels are that much easier to raise. I also think Aro’s contribution was about twice as much as the nightmare’s. Either way, going up four levels from a single battle is excellent progress. I’m getting more experience thanks to [Walking Egg] and the experience I need each level up is reduced by my [Dragon King’s Son], and yet even though I’m fighting directly, my level hardly rises at all.
That leaves treant-san…

…Why has it only gone up 4 levels?
Th-this is strange. This is definitely strange. Even though the single-digits are super easy to break through, treant-san’s level hasn’t risen that much… N-no, there’s nothing wrong with that though…
“Gaah”
『It was confused and shot magic at us, remember?』
My partner glares at the treant as she throws bitter words at me. T-treant-san is trying its best too!
Besides, we’re about to go challenge what’s probably the most dangerous dungeon in the world, so we can’t exactly bring a level 1 tank with us. I’m grateful that its level has gone up, even if it’s just a little.
『…With how close it was to us, even a worm could have raised its level that much. It’s fine if it doesn’t do anything to help, but I just hope it doesn’t get in our way…』
H-hey, what are you saying!? What do you know about treant-san!?
Treant-san watches our exchange with a serious expression. S-sorry… Th-that is… Umm. Right, I’m looking forward to seeing your work! But your level is still a bit low, so please attack from the back!
According to God’s Voice, a [Magical Tree] would generally use disruption magic and strengthen its own defence to draw out battles with adventurers, but unfortunately that sort of strategy won’t work against an adam. Even if they’re weakened a bit, they’re still A rank monsters. You need a stupid amount of firepower to even begin to break through their [HP: 700].
Even with treant-san’s magical support, they’re too difficult an opponent for a C+ rank. Probably, even at max level, a single kick would kill be lethal. Even if it reduces the adam’s attack stat with a max level [Anti Power] and raises its own defence with [Physical Wall], it might be able to avoid dying in one shot, but it’s still within that range. I can’t expect it to receive their attacks from the front. It also can’t do tricky things like the nightmare. Unfortunately, the most I can expect of treant-san is as a super-degraded version of Aro.
By the way, my HP is 2586. My defence stat is also worlds apart from treant-san’s, so even if I were to receive successive attacks from the adams, as long as I can distance myself and heal up, it’s not a problem. I’m totally beating treant-san at its own game. I’m also a endurance-type dragon after all…
…Treant-san, what will you do? Umm… It’s not like I’m trying to leave you out, but you don’t have to come if you don’t want to… From here on, it’ll probably be extremely dangerous…
『……』
Treant-san wordlessly steps forwards and folds its arm branches, looking down towards the ground. Its personality alone is powerful. I-I’m super grateful that you’ll fight for me, but umm… Don’t overdo it, okay?
