"Senior…you already knew?" Damien asked with a look of disbelief since he thought that all Zirians were blindly worshiping Yohr for all these centuries.

Elor chuckled sarcastically as he said, "Because I knew it I ended up like this and even scorned by my own people…thinking that I became crazy to crucify the god they have been wrongly worshiping. In fact, the Zirian Priest told me I had to kill myself for offending their divine figure and savior. But that crafty god took that opportunity to gain more goodwill from my people by granting me 'mercy' and crippling me before exiling me. I only realized after how stupid I was to openly challenge the faith of my people and also him. But there is no point in having regrets now. I can only blame my immaturity at that time who couldn't handle the anger after learning the truth."

He then continued ruefully with a sad smile, "At first, Yohr was going to kill me, but it was Irene who begged for my life even though I told her not to, and that's when Yohr took advantage of that opportunity. I guess he already predicted Irene would beg him. But after that, even she became cold to me, telling me I did something stupid and foolish that could not be reversed for the rest of my life. I think she also hated me for speaking against her god as well. But I know she still loves me somewhere in her heart…Otherwise, why would she extend my life all this while…"

Damien's lips parted in surprise, not expecting the relationship between the two to be this rocky. Still, he sympathized with Elor as he could see where he was coming from.

After all, who would want their people, including their wife, to continue to get fooled by an evil god?

He then sighed and asked, "But…how did you learn the truth when the rest of your people were fooled?"

"Through my father who passed me his memories when he died, and I learned about the shocking truth about someone I have been looking up to since childhood. My father never even mentioned once the true nature of Yohr, and only after my foolish act did I understand why he didn't. He had also warned me not to expose this at any cost, but because I was young and hot-blooded, I couldn't stand the injustice my people had been blindly facing for thousands of years. What Yohr was doing was too despicable and cruel. How could he do that to mortals like us…especially when we put our faith in him," Elor said as he gnashed his teeth as the anger and resentment suppressed within his heart began to rekindle themselves.

"If Senior's father already knew about it, then who found out about it first?" Damien felt as if Elor's ancestors might have known about Yohr from the beginning.

And as expected, Elor answered as he looked at Damien, "What you are thinking is not wrong. The Zirian Emperor was the first to know and even died because of it. His son witnessed his unjust death and also heard his last words about Yohr's betrayal himself before escaping. It all made sense. Yohr is a divine god in a weakened state and stuck in our world. He needed the energy to recover himself, and the best way was to use us as resources. So he first acted as the benevolent god by giving some of his blood essence to the imperial family and certain important members of the empire to make them think that they could grow even more powerful and strong with his help. He then tried to corrupt our Zirian Emperor into enslaving his own people secretly and using them as resources. But the Zirian Emperor wasn't fooled by the 'gifts' Yohr bestowed on him and refused to do such cruel things to his own subjects even if it was a god who was asking him to do these things. He even offered to strip away the blood essence Yohr gave him to not make him feel like he took advantage of his 'gifts'."

"So…that's why Yohr decided to favor the newly immigrated Xetonians who were willing to do anything to get power and wealth," Damien chimed in as he connected the dots.

Elor nodded as he said, "Yes…and since Yohr was angry at the Zirian Emperor for refusing his orders and not respecting his divine self, he decided to punish my people as a whole anyway by letting the Xetonians take control of their empire and enslave their people. Otherwise, a bunch of immigrants who had nothing in their hands wouldn't have been able to overpower us in any lifetime."

He continued with a sad sigh, "The Zirian Emperor or my ancestor was too kind-hearted to see through the evil and crafty mind of Yohr. And that was why he was taken by surprise by the betrayal of both Yohr and the Xetonians whom he had provided free lands and jobs. But it was by Yohr's hand that he died. The blood essence he had 'gifted' to my people was more like a despicable play to take control of their bodies and steal their energy. That's how he crippled my ancestor too. Otherwise, with his immense power, he still could have handled the betrayal of the Xetnoians with just one hand."

"Then your people never stood a chance because of the blood flowing through your veins."

Elor nodded with a despondent look, "I know…That is why my ancestors remained silent about this matter even if they knew, and I learned it the hard way. But right when I was thinking all hope was lost and our future was bleak, Reva was born, and Yohr took a special interest in her to the point of even giving her a major part of his soul essence. This made me realize that Yohr was up to no good and must be planning to use my granddaughter somehow. But at the same time, I felt that this was an opportunity to finally fight back since Yohr was only weakening himself by slowly transferring his soul essence to Reva and even teaching her his ethereal arts. Even if I know it might be unfair to Reva, without her help, we will be wiped off the face of this world when Yohr regains his powers. I can only hope she would grow strong fast enough to at least restrain Yohr," Elor said with a desperate look.

"Actually, Senior, you don't have to worry about Yohr anymore," Damien calmly said, making Elor look at him with a confused expression and ask, "What are you talking about?"

"Because I killed him."

"Ehhh!!"
