Juvenile Group

“So these are the finalists…” (Mitsuha)

What Mitsuha was holding in her hand was a list of names.

Written there were the names of the finalists among the applicants for the recently advertised Society Juvenile Group.

“The poor little girls from hostile places like the royalty and dukes, the radical factions, and Micchan, but they didn’t make the first round. They were good little girls, yet their fathers aren’t…

Then, after researching and considering the family’s reputation, whether there were any problems with her siblings, whether she had any relatives who might try to use her as a stepping stone into the Society, and many other factors, the remaining applicants are these…” (Mitsuha)

There are no photos, so appearance is not part of the other factors in the selection criteria.

There’s no point in drawing portraits, as long as you pay for them, they’ll be beautified as much as they want.

Well, originally, neither Mitsuha nor the other members had any intention of deciding whether to pass or fail on such a basis…

Of course, the same applies to the Society itself.

There are many beautiful girls in the Society, but that is because many of the children of noble families are originally good-looking. This is due to the work of top breeders from long ago.

…No, it’s just that aristocrats like to have beautiful women as wives and concubines so that it’s quite easily possible…

Furthermore, the daughters of aristocrats have money and time to spend on beauty products and makeup. If they lose to the commoners, they’re not worth talking about.

“After that, for the finishing touches, I’ll just ask everyone to cast a secret ballot to avoid hearing the words, ‘This kid is no good!’ from anyone…” (Mitsuha)

Of course, we all had a review meeting.

However, there are things that are difficult to say on the spot, things that cannot be said at the review meeting, such as personal or house-to-house relationships, we may only hear bad reviews, or rather, ‘bad rumors’ with no real proof of their authenticity.

Therefore, anonymous voting was mandatory.

…Naturally, everyone thinks it’ll be an anonymous vote because it’s unmarked, but Mitsuha knows whose vote it was. Just like surveys conducted at schools and companies…

Questionnaire forms mailed from shady companies or dropped in mailboxes may also have a small serial number typed in the corner…

“Okay, little girls grow up quickly, so let’s stop dawdling.

If I make them too tight, they won’t fit right away, and if I make them too big, they’ll slip out and they’ll lose them.

A pendant or something like that would be a problem for a little girl who is small and moves around a lot because it would be in the way and it may get caught onto something and strangle her.

So, if you want something that can withstand the barbaric use of young girls, can be easily replaced if lost, and doesn’t require much effort or money… then there’s only that thing… It can’t be helped, I guess.” (Mitsuha)

“…Anesama, you don’t have to go out of your way to convince us of a reason…” (Sabine)

“Yeah, actually, Mitsuha just wants to do that, right? You just want the little ones to wear that… Yes, that…” (Colette)

“”Nekomimi Headband!!””

=====

It’s here, the Society Juvenile Group, the first tea party!

Dondon pafupafu!

The venue is the home of one of the juvenile group members.

The main Society’s tea party is held at Micchan’s house every time, but that is to reinforce Micchan’s authority within the society. Since it’s a marquis’ house, the place is big and there are many servants, so it’s not too much of a burden.

But the Juvenile Group rotates the location of the event.

That way, the burden on each family would spread out, and prevent power from being concentrated in one hand.

Ultimately, Micchan is the center of both the Society and the Juvenile Group. Therefore, it would be troublesome for a person of power to stand out among the Juvenile Group. All the children in the Juvenile Group are equal, and their loyalty must be directed not to anyone in the Juvenile Group, but to the Society, and to its central figure, Micchan.

…And to me, who always provides good food and drink and mediates for unusual products.

For the Juvenile Group, I plan to order and sell toys and cosplay costumes for children.

So they would purchase a lot of things not only with what their parents asked them to buy but not with their own allowance, maybe with what they got from their parents to acquire from me at this tea party…

Toys such as princess knight set, fairy set, or magician set…

Although, as for the princess set, well, they’re kinda already living like one, so it’ll be a hard sell.

Even though it was a tea party, most of the drinks served were juices. Children would probably prefer sweet drinks to tea.

Of course, they also serve tea and hot milk, but still…

The sweets were almost the same as those at the Society, but they were the product of the combined efforts of the Japanese confectionery industry.

They were not designed for kids, but still, “delicious enough” for children.

Today, all members of the Society are participating in the induction ceremony, a “welcoming event”.

After this, only those who are on duty, like me, and those who wish to participate will come.

I give guidance, but I have to nurture everyone’s independence. It’s not good for the seniors to overstep their bounds.

No, I have to serve sweets, take orders for products, and deliver them!

I can’t help but participate every time, I can’t help it, you know! “Hahaha!”

The Juvenile Group is around from 6 to 12 years old, but they can join up to 10 years old.

Those who’re joining at the age of 12 and graduating in just a few months, or at 11 years old, the majority of them have already applied for admission to the Society, but I have already rejected them.

If a child who was rejected applies again for the Juvenile Group, it will only make it twice as difficult to make it through the selection process.

They have to be in the Juvenile Group for at least two years. Unless they withdraw themselves.

That’s a long enough period of time to get to know each other while wash-… well, yeah, that.

And the Juvenile Group seems to have become a refuge for children who are about to be forced to get engaged…

It’s normal in the aristocratic world to get engaged soon after birth, but most of these things are done to strengthen the connection between families.

But some of them are forced by those in a higher position, or so they say.

…Then, there’s the “Goddess Descending Incident” from the other day.

Yeah, it’s a world where an old man in his 50s making reservations to the parasitic parents’ daughter, who’s about the age of his grandchild, even before she turns 10… If a parent was desperate to protect their daughter in such a case, they were given priority.

That’s just natural!

Of course, it was not my sole discretion, and the review committee discussed it properly.

There were zero objections.

Everyone was fully aware of their duties as noble daughters, but still, they still want to protect what they want to protect. Especially those who were themselves saved.

No one can openly oppose membership in the Society or its sub-organizations under the current circumstances.

That’s why our Society was resented by some creeps and geezers.

…No, that’s about as much of a disadvantage as anything else.

Our Society was on the side of little girls, lasses, and women!

=====

The Juvenile Group’s second tea party.

Today, only three people from the Society who are on duty, including Serumia-chan, came.

…Also me, who’s interested in participating.

Everyone in the Juvenile Group should have heard from their parents that I am the provider of goods for Viscount Yamano’s domain, so they don’t mind coming up to me even if I don’t look like a person from this country.

Since all the members of the society came to the first meeting, the aristocratic-looking beautiful girls, in other words, Micchan and the others, were popular, but they didn’t come to me who had a “plain face”.

……But today, I am the only one here. Well, setting aside the other three on duty.

In that case, I should emphasize that I am the provider of the sweets…

Ku fu…

Ku fu fufufu…….

Okay, let’s hand over the nekomimi headbands I’ve prepared…

“……Wait, why are all the members of Society here!!” (Mitsuha)

“Because, Mitsuha-san, you said “Those who wish to can participate”. It’s only natural for a child who wants to expand their connection with others, and so on, right?” (Michelle)

Micchan said that with a dumbfounded face as if to say, “What are you talking about?”

U gya a ā ā ā ~~!!
