chapter-259-2
By then she was also starting to get rather drunk, so she was getting a loose tongue. But at least she still had the willpower to not mention anything about Fuzzy Dice’s identity.
「Incredible! As expected of the Spirit Queen!」
「I can’t believe she was able to match him!」
The other people there were also drunk by then, cheering loudly as they heard Mira’s story. That spurred Mira on, so she hoisted up the Silver Sky Euros and announced loudly, 「And I snatched this from him!」
Seeing that valuable pendant, worth three billion Ril, the audience went even more wild. But that item was worth so much that the adventurers began to feel intimidated and stepped back, worried that if anything happened, they would be held accountable as well.
At least the detective was still into it, and was piecing apart the fight Mira had described.
「I’ve heard the Patrolling Knights also have throwing weapons with similar effects… But I see, using them properly can create openings.」
Mira had used Magic Bomb Sealing Stones as flashbangs, but the Patrolling Knights actually had developed proper stun grenades. That gave the detective new ideas, so he began asking more about the spiderwebs used by Fuzzy Dice, and Mira happily replied to everything he wanted.
And so, the oddly lively consolation party went late into the night, until around eighty percent of the attendees passed out drunk. Mira was also one of those, and when the party was over, Nina and her sisters had to carry her back to the Baron Hotel and left her sleeping on her bed.
The next morning, she woke up groggily, and she was confused to see herself in the Baron Hotel. The last thing she recalled was being in a lively party in the Spellcasters’ Union.
「Someone must’ve brought me here…」On top of that, she realized she was wearing the night gown given by the hotel. So she offered her thanks to whoever had done all of that, and she went through her usual morning routine.
After using the toilet, she took a shower and changed her clothes. The only difference was that she did not wear her Magic Robe Set, and instead wore the dress she kept in her bag. That was because she had sweated a lot during her fight with Fuzzy Dice and she needed to wash those clothes first.
「Hmm…this feels really good too!」
As she changed her underwear, she also decided to wear the Magic In-Clothes Temperature Regulator Cul’Cool she had bought from the Dinowal Store before. It was more effective than she had anticipated, and she felt fresh and cool even when standing out on the balcony under the hot summer sun. There was a reason why the Dinowal Store had such a good reputation.
With all of that done, she left her room satisfied, having left her Magic Robe Set with the hotel staff for cleaning, and made her way down to the lobby.
There, she found two familiar faces, the detective and Julius. They were talking with two other people, a man who appeared to be a merchant and a woman who looked like an adventurer.
It did not take long for the detective to take notice of Mira and wave at her.
「We’ll be ready to depart in one hour. Make sure to get there on time.」 The merchant said that and then turned around, bowed to Mira, and left together with the adventurer.
「Hey, good morning Mira.」
「Good morning.」
「Good morning, you two.」 After greeting both of them, Mira looked inquisitively at the direction where the pair left. 「I believe he said something about departing? Are you two leaving already?」
They had been working with no rest for two days, so it felt a bit too soon for them to leave, but the detective confirmed that they were planning on leaving that morning.
「Everything I wanted to do here ended yesterday, so there’s no reason for me to linger.」
The detective replied with a cool smirk. But Julius quickly exposed the truth, saying, 「His wife will get mad if he doesn’t return as soon as the heist is over.」
Mira had been under the impression that the detective’s wife gave him a lot of freedom, but it seemed like he was no different from other husbands and could not go against his wife.
In response to having his cool moment ruined, the detective glared at Julius, who just averted his gaze and tried to play it off.
「By the way, have you had breakfast yet, Mira?」 Moving on, the detective asked that, his eyes clearly expecting a certain response.
「Not yet.」
Hearing that, the detective instantly pointed to a certain restaurant. It was the same place within the Baron Hotel where they had eaten pancakes before. Apparently, there were certain sweets that were only available during the week of the church’s seasonal ceremony, and they were considered gourmet delicacies.
「Hmm, then I shall accompany you.」
「I wouldn’t have it any other way.」
Mira agreed right away, and the detective sped there on his wheelchair.
The standout dish was called Deepsea Custard, a visually striking dessert featuring a fluffy pancake submerged in a generous serving of custard. The custard was exceptionally good, and the dessert was accompanied by plain bread, allowing customers to enjoy it with the abundant custard.
The three savored the extravagant dessert early in the morning. It was exceptionally sweet and fragrant, and despite its substantial appearance, it was nearly perfect for breakfast.
「Well then, until we meet again, Mira.」
「Thank you for all your help.」
「Same to you, safe travels.」
After eating, they returned to the lobby, where they all said goodbye.
Having sweets with the detective also meant he would speak to no end, so the time went by in the blink of an eye, and it was time for the detective and Julius to leave. They were traveling with a merchant caravan, as both guards and advisors. The man Mira had seen earlier was their leader.
Mira chuckled to herself seeing the pair leave, with Julius pushing the wheelchair to move faster, as they were nearly out of time.
「Well, I should get moving too.」
When they parted ways the night before, Fuzzy Dice said he would go talk with Mira eventually, but had not given any specific time frame. So it was better for her to focus on her own tasks, and she left the hotel to focus on the biggest one.
