So I Am A Demon Descendent!

chapter-141
How rare. Ice Shards seldom contacted him.
After Li Xianyu decided to break free of Ice Shard’s clutches, the relationship between the two siblings deteriorated. After Li Xianyu moved out to live alone, he seldom went home. Also, his sister was constantly travelling. They hardly met, let alone talked over the phone.
There was really nothing to say. Li Xianyu couldn’t help but feel guilty and cowardly in front of her. Sometimes, he even trembled. Even after so many years, even with his power now, the trauma of his childhood was still deeply rooted in his heart.
“Your father is dead. He’s waiting for you to come to the funeral parlor.” The voice of Ice Shards was not soft. It was clear and cold, but it sounded very abnormally pleasant.
One could imagine what kind of woman she was just by listening to her voice.“Pui, what nonsense.” There was an angry rebuke over the phone.
“I heard mom’s voice, Sister, are you back?” Li Xianyu’s tone sounded more and more careful.
A moment later, the phone was snatched by his mother. “Li Xianyu, your father had an accident, he’s fighting for his life in the hospital now.”
Li Xianyu’s nicknames as a child were endless. Before kindergarten, his adoptive mother called him Yuyu. As he was about to enroll in kindergarten, she thought it was no longer nice. He would be laughed at by his classmates, so she changed his nickname to Xianxian. This nickname was denied by Li Xianyu by the time he reached primary school. When he was in junior high school, his adoptive mother wanted to call him Xianyu. Ice Shards, who had a normally cold disposition, burst out loud laughing.
Hence, his adoptive parents had to call him by his full name. His adoptive mother blamed his adoptive father for giving their son such a stupid name.
Li Xianyu was shocked and raised his voice unconsciously. “Fighting for his life? What’s the matter? What’s the matter with my father? Which hospital? I’ll come here now. ”
He got up and went outside.“We’re not in Shanghai, we’re in Liaoning,” said Mother Li.
“Liaoning?!”
Wasn’t my parents abroad…? Oh, it was a long time ago. They just came back from abroad and went to Liaoning again? My father was a small cadre in a state-owned enterprise. How did he have so many days of leave?
Mother Li sighed. “Your eldest grand-uncle passed away the other day. Your father and I rushed to Liaoning to attend the funeral.”
Li Xianyu suddenly remembered that his grandmother’s family was in Liaoning, and his mother had three uncles. Because his grandma died when Li Xianyu was very young, and that Liaoning was very far away, they hardly moved during the Spring Festival.
However, for matters pertaining to life and death, the journey had to be made, however far. His adoptive parents each asked for compassionate leave, and flew to Liaoning to attend the funeral.
“What has that to do with Dad?” Li Xianyu said in a hurry, “Is he alright?”
“He slipped and fell in the funeral parlor last night, when he was watching over the corpse. He hasn’t woken up yet.” The adoptive mother choked as she continued, “The doctor checked again and again, but the injury was not diagnosed. Instead, they found out that he had multiple organ failure. Fortunately, it was slight, otherwise…”
“My dad’s healthy. How has he got multiple organ failure?” Li Xianyu grabbed his backpack and strode out. “Mom, you send me the address, I’ll come right now.”
“Well, I’ll ask your sister to transfer the transport fare to you.”
“No need, no need!” As he hung up the phone, he knocked on Great-Grandma’s door, but found that she was not in the room. She did not go out to have fun either. He called her to inform her about his adoptive father’s situation.
Great-Grandma offered to go with him.
Li Xianyu’s subconscious refusal to her offer was because he didn’t want people and things pertaining to the demon descendants’ world to be too related to his family. Also, he didn’t know how to introduce Great-Grandma’s existence.
His adoptive father was his biological father’s sworn brother from the human society. Great-Grandma had said that she had never seen his adoptive father before, but maybe she forgot. Great-Grandma had lived for many years, so she would not remember every single trivial matter.
In case his adoptive father had seen Great-Grandma before with his father, even a glance… Years later, if he were to see Great-Grandma again…
On the safe side, it was better for him not to bring her long. Multiple organ failure, even mild, was a very difficult and troublesome disease. Once it gets worse, it would be game over.
Li Xianyu left Baoze’s headquarters with a solemn expression and took a taxi to the airport. He asked Lightning King to book a ticket to Liaoning for him.
More than half an hour later, he arrived at Hongqiao Airport and sat in the waiting hall. Then, he received a call from Lightning King, asking if he would like to arrange for some senior staff to protect him.
…
Li Xianyu refused. Lightning King asked him to contact the people from the branch once he arrived in Liaoning. If he had any problems, he could approach them.
“I don’t regard insignificant people anymore. Even if I don’t have Great-Grandma, I’m not a pushover anymore… Eh, is my ego inflating?” Li Xianyu looked down at his left arm and said, “Is it you affecting my mind?”
Slime retorted, “Bullshit, it’s none of my business. Even if there’s a mistake, it’s the mistake of Wangchen.”
Li Xianyu said, “How much do you hate Wangchen? Don’t tell your next host in a changed tone, ‘Everything is Xianyu’s fault.’”
…
Arriving at Taoxian International Airport from Hongqiao, he was severely conned by an airport taxi driver before he agreed to take him to the county. By the time he got to the hospital, it was dark.
During the summer of August, the sky was getting dark, and the temperature of Liaoning was very comfortable. People and chickens were not as hot as the Shanghai stock market.
When Li Xianyu paid, he found that Ice Shards had transferred him a sum of money via WeChat. He calculated the road fare, and found that the difference was less than 200 dollars. Stupid Ice Shards, she was such a cheapskate. He didn’t even get to benefit a little. She was not as magnanimous and aware as a big sister should be.
He made a phone call to Ice Shards at the door of the hospital. “Sister, I’m here.”
Ice Shards told him the ward number and said, “Come up by yourself.”
He followed the sequence of the ward number to his adoptive father’s ward. This was a double room; the county was not big, even the best hospital in the city could not cater to the demands for single wards.
His adoptive father lay on the sickbed. In the next sickbed was a middle-aged man who had broken his leg. His wife and son were both beside the bed.
From time to time, the father and son glanced at the cold beauty beside their hospital bed. In this small county town, the number of beauties, at least in this hospital, in their daily life and contact circle, were insignificant. They hardly met a woman more outstanding than this pretty beauty.
If they were to nitpick her flaws, it was probably that she was a little cold. She wore a white T-shirt and a thin coat in beige, which matched with the pair of denim long pants and flaunted her legs and hips. This was coupled with a pair of dark red jogging shoes with a plain-ish face plus a ponytail.
This outfit was casual, and it couldn’t compare to some girls who could dress up. Sitting there without laughing or talking, she possessed an indescribable noble aura.
It seemed that she was the noble consort in the Forbidden City, and the rest were just the common people living an ordinary life under the rule of the imperial city.
Due to the unreasonable feeling that she was out of their league, the father and son couldn’t stare at her so directly.
She had been in the ward for a long time. During this period, when her mother asked her if she wanted to drink water, she shook her head. The only two conversations she had were over the phone. The voice was the same as her temperament. It was cold and crisp, like the collision of ice balls.
Occasionally, she glanced at the door of the ward from time to time. She was waiting for her brother, who she was on the phone with. If he didn’t appear, she would frown slightly.
“Mom, Dad’s not awake yet?” Li Xianyu finally appeared.
“Li Xianyu?” When the adoptive mother saw her son, she was stunned. She found that she could not recognize her son who she had raised for 20 years. His appearance was still the same, but his temperament and the vibe he gave off was entirely different.
She hadn’t seen him for more than half a year. He was a few centimeters taller and had a stronger physique. As for his temperament, he was quite different.
“Oh, mom, I recently got a gym membership. I’ve been working out.” Li Xianyu explained casually and asked, “Dad’s not awake yet?”
“No, the doctor said that he was to stay in the hospital for observation to prevent the disease from getting worse.” His adoptive mother frowned, “If he doesn’t wake up by tomorrow, I plan to send him to the provincial capital.”
“How could this happen? Dad has a full body check-up every year.” Li Xianyu stared at his adoptive father, who was also a handsome person when he was young. He was also a very popular type of ruffian, especially amongst the females. When he pursued Li Xianyu’s mother that year, his smile was also equally charismatic.
Time was a weapon which slaughtered him. His belly was now bigger, his eyes were more puffy, his manhood had become softer, but he remained in good health.
“I didn’t know he would become like this when he fell.” His adoptive mother sighed helplessly.
Li Xianyu felt Ice Shards looking at him. He mustered a smile and said, “Sister!”
Ice Shards gave a neutral, “Hmph.”
“What are you doing in the northeast?” Li Xianyu complained. “The entire family came to northeast to attend the funeral, yet you guys didn’t call me?”
Although I am an adopted son, I am still a part of the family.
Ice Shards didn’t care about him. His adoptive mother explained, “It’s a coincidence that your sister just came to the northeast for fun. I called her, and she arrived this morning.”
The state of his adoptive father was good if it didn’t get worse. Once it got worse, even if he had been successfully resuscitated, it would leave permanent complications. Fortunately, he had arrived in time. Li Xianyu planned to give his adoptive father an injection late at night, when no one was watching.
“Mom, let me watch over Dad tonight. Do you and Sis have a hotel room nearby?”
“Yeah.” When his adoptive mother was young, she was also a beauty. She was a small princess who was different compared to Ice Shards, who liked to travel in isolation and had to tie a ponytail for convenience. His mom liked to tie her hair up all year. In recent years, as she aged, she could not tie a young-looking ponytail anymore. She tied the knot at the end of the ponytail and hung it on her left shoulder.
“Mom, I said that your hairstyle is very dangerous. Don’t put yourself in danger.” Li Xianyu lifted his mother’s hair and put it behind her body.
As he finished speaking, his eyes suddenly burned, stimulating the lacrimal gland to secrete tears.
“What’s the matter with you?” his adoptive mother asked with concern in her tone.
“Tissue!” Li Xianyu held his eyes.
His adoptive mother retrieved a piece of tissue at the head of the bed and handed it to him. Li Xianyu wiped away his tears and looked left and right with a solemn expression. There must have been some aggrieved spirit in the ward, which stimulated his spiritual eyes.
It had long been said that the hospital was a “dirty” place that was not categorised with the cemetery. It was also known as one of the three origins of paranormal activity, along with the girls’ dormitories and cemeteries.
It was true indeed.
He scanned the ward, but didn’t see any aggrieved spirits. Then, he was shocked to find out that gushes of black air was spewing out of his foster father’s face.
