Chapter 25 – No Problem with Character (人品没问题)

Teacher Jin was a bit dumbfounded. She didn’t think that the two of them becoming grandfather and granddaughter would be so easily decided.

Despite all that, she was still happy. Having a senior figure caring for Jing Yunzhao was definitely a good thing. Plus, Doctor Gan was a well-known TCM doctor of the County. He also has a family full of medicine practitioners. Since Jing Yunzhao likes medicine, it was definitely 100 advantages without a single disadvantage.

After this matter was settled, things would now be easier in the future.

She didn’t have to go to class today, so she cleaned up her bed in the dormitory and left for the housing estate Gan Songbai had mentioned.

Gan Songbai had originally wanted to take her there, but he had promised his grandchildren that if it wasn’t the due date for collecting “fees”, no adults would be allowed to bother them. Thus, all he could do was give his grandchildren a call in advance to tell them about their new roommate.

Their housing estate was called “Cosy Garden” (温馨花苑). It wasn’t big, but just like its name implied, the apartments looked cosy and welcoming.

Her soon-to-be abode was on the 5th floor. It was said that an attic also came with it. Different types of flowers and plants decorated it. After a few months, pleasant fragrances would surely permeate through the whole apartment.

Jing Yunzhao walked up the stairs without a sweat and knocked on the door. Soon, a girl dressed in bunny pyjamas opened the door.

“Gan-biaojie?” asked the girl. (T/N: I went over what gan (干) means. Biaojie (表姐) means older female maternal cousin. Literally means elder God maternal cousin sister.)

Jing Yunzhao’s mouth twitched. She was startled by being called that but still hardened her skin and nodded.

After she nodded, she was instantly pulled through the door and heard the other girl say, “My name’s Su Chu (苏楚). I heard from Grandpa that you’re older than me by two months, so that makes you my Biaojie… Biaoge (T/N: older male maternal cousin) is studying in his room. His name is Gan Jinchen. He’s older than us by a year… He repeated a grade in elementary school though, so he’s in the same grade as us! I’ve heard about you, Jing Yunzhao. You’re our school’s top student!”

The person in mention was a bit surprised. This was the first time someone knew clearly who she was yet didn’t avoid her because of the negative rumours.

Seeing her surprise, Su Chu jabbered on, “Grandpa told me that you went to the police station today. Those hooligans have been caught, adding on the evidence they found, it all proved that you had nothing to do with them like the rumours said. Although I don’t really understand what happened, Grandpa’s judgment of character is really accurate. He willingly recognizing you as his God-granddaughter proves that there’s nothing wrong with your character!”

After Su Chu finished, she stretched, “Your room is right next to mine, everything has already been organized. Get used to your surroundings first. I also have to go study. Grandpa’s testing day is only a few days away!”

She finished and quickly returned to her room.

Jing Yunzhao took a deep breath and observed the house.

The house wasn’t small, around 120 square meters. The necessary facilities like a kitchen and bathrooms were all present, but the living room was a bit messy. Different types of snacks were littered everywhere, along with some random books. It was a complete mess.

She opened the door to her room and found that she rather liked it.

The room faced the sun. The curtains were of a golden colour and gave the room an overall bright and cheerful vibe. The bed, bookshelf, and drawers were all set up and prepared for her. She was very satisfied.

Back in the Qiao family home, she occupied the smallest room. The curtain and vase there were cheap decorations she had worked hard to buy, otherwise, the feeling the room gave off wasn’t at all warm nor homely.

She simply organized the things she brought. The room was starting to look more and more pleasing.

Going through the huge commotion in the afternoon, she didn’t even have the chance to organize the things she had bought before. After locking her room door, she entered her space.

Inside the space, a bunch of bags were placed orderly. The seeds inside looked like they had more vitality in here.

Holding a small shovel, Jing Yunzhao acted according to the written steps in the Spirit Jade and planted all the seeds in the soil. She then used the already mixed fountain water to speed up their growth, before continuing her studies without worry.

After 12 hours had passed in the space, those seeds had already changed in appearance. Their vitality was visible as they exposed themselves from beneath the soil. However, because the fountain water’s ratios were different for each seed, their maturity was different, but it was a success in growing them all!
