Their first experiment failed, and Dio walked outside of the Avenger’s Base to vent with Steve.

“Give me one too!” Steve said as he saw Dio lighting a cigarette, which surprised Dio as he knew that Steve was one of the people who was repelled by harmful substnces like cigarettes.

“Since when did you smoke?” Dio asked with a surprised look on his face, but he handed the pack of cigarettes to Steve nonetheless. He already had Natasha smoking with him once, so Dio didn’t really care if another Avengers smoked with him too.

“Why are you so judgmental so suddenly? I just want to try it out!” Steve said as he smirked and lit one cigar himself. Steve had a thing with unhealthy things that could destroy his body before he became Captain America when he was a thin and frail man. Once he became Captain America, he didn’t have enough time to indulge in what he couldn’t before as he was in the war. He couldn’t even do anything when the war was over as he was trapped in ice!

So, besides his age, Steve didn’t have enough life experience at all.

“So, do you like it?” Dio smirked as soon as he heard Steve coughing from the smoke.

“This is not nice at all!” Steve said as he coughed. Dio just laughed as soon as he heard it. Cigarettes’ demerit wouldn’t harm Steve’s body thanks to his healing factor, but Steve wouldn’t be able to get used to the smoke filling his lungs.

“Why did you like to smoke this shit?” Steve annoyedly said as he flicked the cigar in his hand away.

“You don’t understand the essence of smoking. It’s not because of the taste, but because you want to!” Dio said as he blew a smog into Steve’s face.

“Smoking is like a lot of things that push us to move forward, you know. We can’t hide from such pressure!” Dio said with a smile on his face. Steve himself didn’t understand what Dio was talking about, but he knew that there were many things that Dio just said that he didn’t understand in the past.

“If we accomplish our goal right now, what would you do next?” Steve asked curiously.

“I don’t know, maybe go back and reopen my restaurant? Or maybe, find a good place to live on a mountain by a river or something. Honestly, the thing that I regretted the most probably is knowing you all!” Dio said with a smile on his face.

Steve thought back to the moment when the SHIELD dragged Dio around because he was a little special at that time, and once he remembered the good old days, Steve couldn’t help but laugh!

“That’s good! With great power comes great responsibility, right?” Steve said as he smirked.

“Come on! The last brat who used that proverb was already snapped to dust!” Dio said as he shrugged. That proverb was just an idealistic way of thinking, but there was no doubt that was also why the Spiderman was different than the other heroes!

Nevertheless, the proverb still was not realistic, and of course, Steve also knew about this.

“Anyway, I didn’t regret knowing you!” Steve said after a brief silence.

Dio smiled and burned the rest of his cigar to ashes.

“You should know me already, I hate troublesome stuff the most! Because of that, I rarely start something, but trouble always finds its way to my door.” Dio said solemnly. Steve was silent as he knew what Dio was talking about.

“Well, it seems the most unlikely person to visit has already arrived!” Dio said as he turned Steve’s attention to a sport car that stopped at the gate.

“Did I disturb your date?” Tony said as he rolled down his car window. Steve sighed in relief. If Tony bothered coming all the way here, that meant he wanted to help, but it was too late by now.

“The experiment already failed. What are you doing here?” Steve asked curiously.

“Oh, let me guess, did the one who volunteered to use the time machine turn into a baby?” Tony asked with a smirk on his face.

“Well, he also turned into something else,” Steve said awkwardly.

“This is Apollo Paradox! The time doesn’t pass their body, but instead, the time flows inside of their body! It was a complicated and dangerous side effect. Someone should have warned you beforehand!” Tony said with his know-it-all attitude. Tony then walked out of the car confidently.

“Shut your trap, Tony! We are trying our best! I will take your daughter from you if you annoy me about this again!” Dio said menacingly.

“You bastard! Don’t threaten my daughter. She is only two years old!” Tony said annoyedly.

“That’s alright, I can wait for her to get older,” Dio said with a big smirk on his face. Tony was tempted to yank Dio’s head off his body, but he knew that Dio was joking. “I mean, booking a little girl to become my unborn son’s girlfriend in advance is a good thing, right?” Dio said as he continued to tease Tony.

“I am done with you! Here, take this! It’s a fully functional Time Travel Navigator!” Tony said as he threw a watch towards Steve.

Steve and Dio were surprised by the machine that Tony gave as they thought that Tony came here to help, but instead, he had already got things done on his own!

“We will go on an adventure! I hope we can reverse the chaos, but I wish to keep everything I have right now!” Tony solemnly said as he opened the trunks of his car and took out a Shield that was so familiar to everyone.

“What? When did you make this?” Steve said as he was surprised once again.

“It doesn’t matter!” Tony said as he handed it over to Steve and the two men shook hands to mark their cooperation once again.

“Thank you, Tony!” Steve said happily.

“Can you not show it to everyone? I didn’t prepare any return gift!” Tony said jokingly. He turned his attention to Dio and nodded in acknowledgement. Dio just smiled as he understood how memorable this scene would be if it were in the movie.
