Chapter 257: A Mister Nice Guy

In truth, the two strongest warrior organizations in the Pan-Human Alliance shared the same origin: The Brotherhood. Qin Mang said that he hoped for Xia Fei to one day join this mysterious organization, and Xia Fei was a little taken aback by this.

He could not fathom just what Qin Mang was thinking; why would he mention The Brotherhood at such a time?

After setting out some offerings for Qin Mang’s favorite black cat, Xia Fei joined Moon Song and the others for a meal.

Moon Song still acted as she always did, which more or less gave Xia Fei a shred of consolation.

‘I’m still more used to Moon Song acting the way she is now,’ Xia Fei thought in his heart.

After a good feast and plenty of drinks were shared, Chen Dong suddenly mentioned that he wished to explore the vast expanse of space, to visit some places where the legendary masters of this universe, and to learn martial arts from them.

Everyone was surprised hearing this. These past two years, Chen Dong had practically been cooped up in his training room, training like a man gone mad. Now that his madman had suddenly declared his wish to explore the stars and experience the world for himself, all of them found it difficult to accept it readily.

Xia Fei knew that his ‘yes’ theory must have rubbed off on him. Now that Qin Mang had managed to get himself off death’s doors, he decided it was time to look for a whole new challenge.

“That’s great news; where have you decided to go visit?” Xia Fei asked.

Chen Dong shook his head. “I haven’t thought of a place yet. I’ve already applied for an extended sabbatical from the internal division. I plan to spend at least half a year out in space this time.”

Xia Fei smiled. “Why don’t you come back with me to Earth? Though my home planet is backward, it still has decent views.”

Chen Dong had decided that he wished to train with experts, and Earth would of course not have any experts to speak of. Xia Fei was currently already the strongest warrior from Earth, which was why he did not even pause to think and wanted to reject it right away.

This was when Xia Fei suddenly coughed, causing Chen Dong to recall Xia Fei telling him about his ‘yes’ theory. There was no telling what would happen if he were to visit Earth, so rejecting this might well be missing an opportunity.

“Okay, that’s a promise,” Chen Dong readily agreed.

Beihai could not believe this. Ever since Chen Dong moved to the internal division, it was as if he had become a changed man. He did not care about anyone, spending all his time only on cultivating and training, yet now that Xia Fei had invited him to the boring Earth, he agreed so readily. This was well beyond anything Beihai had expected.

A very scary smile appeared on Moon Song’s face. “I heard that the Gruiss Star Region has a plant called Shadowleaf Sunflower, which is said to have plenty of benefits for a woman’s body if they take it. Do you mind helping me get some?”

Chen Dong knitted his eyebrows as he thought to himself, ‘Help you go get something only women will use? What the heck? It’s not like I am bored and have nothing to do.’

Just as he was about to reject the woman, Xia Fei coughed once and Chen Dong stopped himself. Remembering about the theory Xia Fei had told him about, he figured that there was no telling what he might run into in the Gruiss Star Region.

“Alright, no problem,” Chen Dong agreed.

Moon Song was really mischievous. She knew that Xia Fei had told Chen Dong about the ‘yes’ theory, which was why she was exploiting it so craftily.

The mouths of both Beihai and Manjun went agape. This was the famous madman Chen Dong, after all, a battle maniac who never stopped fighting, yet now he had turned into a Mister Nice Guy who agreed to everything. Did he have a change of heart?

Moon Song now had her two hands under her chin as said with a sly look, “I heard the fruit of the Butterfly Lotus from the Silens Star Region can help in keeping a woman’s complexion forever young-looking. Chen Dong, think you could swing by and help me find some?”

“Sure,” Chen Dong acquiesced.

Moon Song continued, “I also want some willow lining cottons. They’re super comfy when used to make clothes.”

Chen Dong replied, “Okay, I’ll gather some.”

“There are also the candied fruits made by the Huttu race; they’re so delicious.”

“I’ll find them. I’ll snatch some if they don’t give me.”

“I also want Six-eyed Swallowtail Fish.”

Chen Dong frowned. “Yes, I’ll catch one, too.”

Moon Song then blurted out, “Seven-legged King Crab.”

Chen Dong paled. “Yes… I’ll go have a look.”

“I also want this…”

“Okay…”

“And that…”

“No problem…”

Moon Song was being completely unreasonable. She knew perfectly well that Chen Dong would not reject anything that was proposed to him, so she gave him dozens of tasks at once, getting him to catch birds in the sky and fishes in the sea, as well as do all sorts of strange and rare errands.

Chen Dong could feel his head swelling. There was simply too much being asked; how could he accomplish it all in half a year? He might not even have the time to chase after every whim of Moon Song even if he spent his entire six months of sabbatical just running her errands and nothing for himself, but upon recalling the ‘yes’ theory that Xia Fei had told him, Chen Dong felt completely invigorated. There were so many unknowns out there awaiting him and the sorts of things he had no knowledge of that he would get to interact with. Opportunity abounded!

Even Manhun and Beihai were affected by Moon Song and threw in requests of their own, which Chen Dong did not hesitate to accept without any exceptions.

With Chen Dong becoming so amenable, everyone was of course very happy. Meanwhile, Xia Fei was laughing until his stomach hurt as the entire affair was simply far too comical. Chen Dong had become a Mister Nice Guy, agreeing to everything thrown his way. Unfortunately, anyone interested would have to seek the book depository to learn what happened.

Phantom wrinkled his forehead. “What’s so funny about this? Chen Dong is a very talented warrior who will most definitely reach a certain height if he devotes his time toward cultivation and training. Too bad he’s made friends with someone like you and has now turned into a wanderer who will not be engaged in any honest work. Say, Xia Fei, don’t you feel the loss?”

Xia Fei chuckled. “You can’t say that. What’s wrong with having a look at the world around you? Let me ask you: If I were to shut myself in and stay in Heaven Execution Training Camp from day one, concentrating solely on cultivation and training, every day and night, would I be stronger than how I am now?”

Phantom was silent. It was evident what the outcome of Xia Fei’s running around had brought him. Had he been stubbornly training like what Chen Dong was doing thus far, he would most definitely not have reached the point that he was at today, much less experience countless adventures and rapid improvement to his strength.

“You’re lucky. That might not be the case for Chen Dong,” Phantom reasoned.

Xia Fei answered, “Perhaps that is true, but if Chen Dong were to never even leave the confines of the training camp, he wouldn’t even have a chance at all. At the very least, he has now given himself a chance, and if he’s just a tad lucky, who can guarantee that he won’t end up getting into some bizarre adventures of his own?”

Phantom was left speechless. He had to admit that Xia Fei’s sophistry skills were impeccable, so much so that even the dead would speak. Furthermore, no one could really deny that Xia Fei’s strange ideas had a certain logic in them.

Phantom was slightly convinced, wondering to himself, ‘If I also spent time traveling around the world when I was still alive, who knows what sort of circumstances I would be in today, instead?”

The feast was joyful for all, with everyone leaving very satisfied, aside from Chen Dong himself. He was the only one worried about the itinerary he should make, where he needed to go first, and what sort of transport he needed to take. He would also have to learn about the local customs and state of affairs of all the places he would be visiting.

Nearing the end of the feast, Moon Song suddenly mentioned that she would like to head to Earth with Xia Fei as well. He had his reservations, but he did not reject her, as long as she did not go hug him like what she had done today.

Still somewhat inebriated, the three bid Beihai and Manjun farewell and began their journey to Earth.

Xia Fei suddenly recalled a line that Moon Song had once said: “With your speed, Chen Dong’s Frost, and my illusions, we’d definitely make a superb team together, far stronger than the Magnificent Thirteen.”
