Chapter 754: Xiaoyu, Autumn Cicada, and the Darkpearl Clan

“The Darkpearl Clan? They’re one of the few bane existences of the Demon-sealing Fiendish Blade!” Old Black was deeply worried and dejectedly said this. “The God Race warriors are in a bad state, especially Xia Fei!”

The Darkpearl of Demon Race took its name from the ‘Heaven Dark Earth Pearl’. Just like how the Skywing Clan was one of the few families in the Law Realm that had mastered the Law of Speed, this most extreme and difficult law, the Darkpearl Clan’s elites were skilled in the two powerful Laws of Mist Concealment and Flash Blitz.

As its name implied, Mist Concealment was immersing the world in a thick fog that the Darkpearl warriors could hide in. Their bodies could turn into mist and they could use Law of Speed to quickly strike their foes.

To say that they were the natural enemies of the Skywing Clan would not be strange at all; while the Law of Flash Blitz was not any faster in movement than the Law of Speed, the former was much faster in immediate execution, meaning they could strike several times, or even several dozen times, the speed of a Law of Speed warrior.

In the past, the Skywings and Darkpearls would hold competitions, and it had been proven that the Skywings were still stronger when it came to movement speed, but the Darkpearl’s Law of Mist Concealment deprived the Skywings’ high speed movement of its power. After all, the fastest speed was useless without a target.

The Law of Flash Blitz represented a lethal threat to the Law of Speed. Whenever a law attack moving more than one million meters per second came over, very few people could dodge it.

One had lightning-fast speed, whereas the other had lightning-fast attacks. The Skywings and Darkpearls were both specialists in ending battles quickly, and because they often competed against each other, these two big clans had formed a deep-seated grudge. If Xia Fei were to run into Lightning Hand Sezsny, this newly promoted Law Overlord of the Darkpearl Clan, they would undoubtedly fight to the death!

This was not even the scariest thing. The scariest thing was Sezsny being the only Law Overlord present among the Demon Race warriors on the Ancient Battlefield! He could order around the elites, which included five level 9 Law Emperors, of the other demon clans! Thus, it could be said that their strength far outstripped that of the God Race warriors, which Xia Fei was part of!

The Black and White Gods were very concerned. After all, Xia Fei, who had inherited the Law of Primal Chaos, had some connection to them; also, with him being a warrior of the God Race, he was essentially their junior.

Though they did not know why Xia Fei was a Skywing now, this did not affect their good impression of him. After all, their father owed his life to the Skywing Clan. Be it out of emotion or reason, they had no excuse to just be idle bystanders.

“If it’s really no good, we’ll force our way in!” Old Black said, his complexion ashen. “We can’t just look on as a junior of the Skywing Clan dies here. Plus, Xia Fei has a connection to us, so if it’s really no good, we’ll just take him with us and run away!”

Old White shook his head and sternly said, “You’re thinking about it too simply. If we take actions, those undying old coots will think that we’re colluding with the Skywings, and our misfortune won’t only affect Xia Fei but also the entire Xia family!”

“Oh, god!” Old Black covered his head in frustration and yelled. “This is no good and that’s no good! I can’t take it anymore!”

Old White was merciless in his argument, coldly snorting. “Who told you to become a fugitive? Our current identities means we can never see the light of day.”

As the two were at their wits’ end, Whitey suddenly asked, “What’s going on here? Everyone else has been sent to the Ancient Battlefield, but Xia Fei has been sent into some mysterious room. This AI, which has been operating for countless years, truly is unusual.”

Whitey did not like Xia Fei, so it sounded more like she was mocking him.

Old Black and Old White were startled and turned their attention to the screen. They saw that Xia Fei had entered the rapid advancement path, and there were lines of data keeping track of Xia Fei’s vital signs, his current cultivation, energy levels, and other such things.

“Ha!” Old Black slapped his thigh and excitedly spoke. “We’re all just discussing Xia Fei being unlucky, but it seems like the Ancient Battlefield’s AI didn’t forget to give Xia Fei a chance to increase his level rapidly; it simply delayed it a little! Wonderful! Still, I wonder what sort of training Xia Fei will receive in this rapid advancement path.”

Old White seemed to exist solely to keep Old Black down. Just when his brother was getting happy, Old White immediately sought to bring him back down to earth mercilessly.

“Don’t celebrate too early. This Ancient Battlefield’s AI may be unfathomable, but even with astounding talent, there’s no way that Xia Fei can close the gap between that Law Overlord and his Law Emperor cultivation in just one week. Besides, the Demon Race doesn’t have just one Law Overlord. He has many powerful allies from other top-class clans.”

Old Black frowned and retorted, “Xia Fei has learned the Law of Primal Chaos and has a decent foundation. Plus, the God Race has another big clan here, the Skybirds.”

Old White nonchalantly replied, “Skybird, Skywing, one possess the Law of Flight and the other the Law of Speed; both are normally formidable apex existences, but this time, the Demon Race elites surpass the God Race in both quality and numbers. Even if those two clans work together, they won’t be able to hold out. After all, the gap between the two sides is just too big!”

Old Black became depressed, resentfully saying, “It’s really bizarre. Whenever the Ancient Battlefield opened in the past, many clans would send their best elites, but something weird seems to have happened this year, for those clans only sent their second-rate members. As such, the two sides aren’t on equal footing at the moment.”

Suddenly, before Old Black could finish speaking, the screen in front of him turned off. The message on the screen said that the hand-off to the rapid advancement system was complete and that the main control system had temporarily… lost contact?

Old Black frowned and muttered, “So this was a stand-alone system that isn’t under the surveillance of the main system?”

The vastness of the Ancient Battlefield of Gods and Demons was so great that any warrior who saw it for the first time would be shaken to their soul.

Countless crystal balls suddenly dropped from the sky. Inside each ball was a warrior; all were of different sexes and clans, and the only similarity they shared was the shock on their faces! It seemed that this place, upon which countless warriors had gone to their eternal rest, had entranced all of them.

The several thousand balls of light carrying thousands of warriors descended on the Ancient Battlefield, each one separated by a great distance.

They moved with a calm and unhurried speed, like dandelions drifting down.

*Bang!*

At a distance of one hundred meters from the ground, the balls of light burst apart, and the various warriors dropped to the battlefield. The most important thing to do here was identify friend and foe as well as to find one’s own group quickly. Those who were left out would be killed.

Of course, there were a few weirdos, but when it came to large-scale fights and treasure hunts like these, weirdos often died early.

Every person was separated by several dozen kilometers. This was the last layer of protection the AI provided. Once everyone was on the battlefield, whether they lived or died was up to fate.

There was a beautiful girl who clearly did not understand the dangers of the world. She stood on the high ground, curiously looking around. Her aloof and transcendent demeanor was not just on her face but also in her movements and actions. It was a sort of otherworldly nature that was impossible to imitate.

*Whoosh~*

A figure suddenly arrived, grabbing the girl by the hand and quickly taking her eastward, toward more complicated terrain. These two were Autumn Cicada and Xiaoyu, the female warriors the Snowdrift Clan had sent to the Ancient Battlefield this time around.

“Young Miss, how could you stand at such an obvious place? Didn’t we already agree to hide first and then group up swiftly? It’s a good thing that we didn’t drop that far from each other, or else we would be in trouble.” Xiaoyu was younger, yet she clearly understood the wickedness of sentient beings better than Autumn Cicada. She was anxious and her words were tinged with anger.

Autumn Cicada nonchalantly replied, “So this is the Ancient Battlefield of Gods and Demons. I was very curious and wanted to take a look around, so I forgot about our previous arrangement.”

Xiaoyu truly could not find it in her to get angry at Autumn Cicada. The innocence of her master was to an absurd level. She basically did not understand anything. Xiaoyu grew up on Earth, and her family was renowned for its martial arts prowess, so she had frequently heard about the underworld. Therefore, her awareness of danger was superior to Autumn Cicada’s.

“Young Miss, I’m not angry with you, only frustrated at how absentminded you are. This is clearly such a dangerous place, yet you still assented to Red Oriole’s request. Why is it that she can get all the good things while we are always risking our lives?!” Xiaoyu unhappily said.

Schemes and plots did not exist in Autumn Cicada’s mind, so she did not understand Xiaoyu’s words. She only blankly nodded and allowed Xiaoyu to guide her.

Xiaoyu felt very helpless. It was her fortune to get such an innocent and guileless master. Autumn Cicada had always treated her well and never put on any airs. If it had been Red Oriole instead, she probably would have been begging for death already.

However, Autumn Cicada was too indifferent to fame and fortune, and it was at times of crisis like this that the dangers of this detachment reared their heads. Xiaoyu was older than her by two years, yet Autumn Cicada was like a child.

“Young Miss, an enemy!”

*Whoosh~*

Xiaoyu suddenly stopped, placing a hand in front of Autumn Cicada.

“Amethyst Guard!” Xiaoyu grunted. Following which, several gorgeous purple crystals shot upward to protect her and Autumn Cicada.

At the same time, a pitch-black head appeared on the opposite slope. With a vulgar and perverted look on his face, he eyed the two fairy-like existences on the opposite side.

Xiaoyu frowned. What was most frightening was not that she and Autumn Cicada were on the Ancient Battlefield of Gods and Demons, but that they were girls, and very pretty ones at that.

On this battlefield, girls did not stand for beauty. but endless trouble, instead!

*Rumble!*

The battlefield system’s seven-day rapid advancement training began!

Xia Fei felt like his body was being penetrated by ten thousand silver needles, and he was in so much pain that he broke out in a cold sweat!

*Whoosh~*

Energy began to flow out from Xia Fei’s body without end, similar to how the Blood Crystal devoured the energy of others, but this time, he was the victim!

“Oh, no! Even the seventh brain region is showing signs of energy collapse! It will be a big problem if this keeps up!” Oro urgently exclaimed.

Energy was the foundation of everything, but for some reason, not only was the battlefield AI not giving Xia Fei any energy but also rapidly emptying him of it.

Xia Fei gritted his teeth and endured it, a hint of confusion in his eyes.

Suddenly—

Just when Xia Fei was about to be drained of energy completely, a vast amount of it surged back into his body, becoming a warm current that flowed through him!

“It’s purification! So powerful! Incredible! The AI has purified all the energy that you absorbed before that’s not sufficiently pure and has exchanged it for pure energy of an extremely high level!” Oro cried. “This is a chance—a superb chance to improve yourself!”
