Taming The Villainesses
chapter-211-1

(EP-211.1) #1

211 – Prophet #1

Actually, I was not one to enjoy resting.

Even if I was given a vacation, I wouldn’t really know how to relax and just end up wasting time.

They said experience could make a difference in everything. Thus, people who had a lot of fun would know how to enjoy themselves.

In that sense, I was the type of person who would choose work over an awkward break.

But as Aira said, humans were imperfect beings.

All the more for a peculiar existence such as a Half-Fairy that came with many inconveniences, especially physically.

Up until now, I had been holding out with all my might, not knowing when a knife would come aiming for my throat. But lately, I’d been thinking of taking about a month off.

I told Aira once that I’d take a break. The next day, she summoned me to court.

Now that I thought about it, I’d never been on a proper trip since I was a kid. I’d never even dreamed of traveling abroad. Though, if I had the chance, I would probably go to Europe.

In the midst of all this, when I found myself in this world, I did feel a slight thrill.

The sunlit grassy fields and various meadows, landscapes that fairies would frolic around. Majestic mountains and forests-. Dungeons and treasure chests. It was enough to make any man dream of adventure.

So I told Aira.

“I want to stop this.”

Actually, I’d always wanted to say this for the longest time. It was just that I couldn’t afford to leave Aira alone. I meant, she couldn’t even wear her own stockings.

“I think you can manage on your own now.”

But after these past few days of being apart, I realized that Aira was doing quite well without me.

She quickly found people to serve her and took care of herself just fine, eating and sleeping well. Anyway, she seemed to be doing well.

Come to think of it, it was only natural.

I’d only been with Aira for about a tenth of her life. The rest of the time, she had probably been fine without me.

Why did I arrogantly think that Aira wouldn’t be able to do anything without me?

Bang-!

Aira slammed her fist on the table. The beautifully sparkling crystal table was then perfectly split in half.

Crack.

… This was a church fixture. But the problem was not the table but Aira herself, who was literally emitting steam from her head.

“I apologized to you…!”

“Yes?”

“I said I’m sorry, I apologized. So why are you saying that?”

Aira seemed to have misunderstood something. Perhaps she thought I was quitting because of what she did.

Whatever it might be, if Aira thought that way and got so worked up about it, she might explode, so I hurriedly spread my hands out.

“Aira-nim, it’s not about that. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time.”

“A long time?”

“After this is all over, I want to take a break for at least a month. There are things I want to do.”

During that time off, I would like to investigate Solomon, the Nymph he was trying to save, and the whereabouts of Isaiah Angmar.

To do that, I might have to head North. Of course, that was not possible with Aira beside me. So I requested a little break this time.

But Aira shook her head.

“… No. I told you before. Theo, you make me the perfect Queen. Without you, I can’t be the perfect Queen.”

“You seem to be doing fine without me. You also got a new servant.”

“That fool can’t even tell the difference between nymph white and pure white. If you don’t like them, I’ll have them cut off immediately.”

Cut… Maybe because it was Aira, but it didn’t sound like she was simply firing them. What does she mean by it exactly?

“Don’t quit.”

“But you already promised in the name of Tarantera.”

“…….”

Aira bit her lip, recalling her own words.

She looked torn between the oath of the promise and some kind of fixation on me, she eventually fell silent.

In fact, even if I were to quit, it wouldn’t mean leaving Aira’s side forever.

After resigning from being the Court Secretary of Angmar, I would now stand as the true master of the throne. Then, Aira would be one of my Queens.

Of course, I didn’t speak of such things. It was just withholding the truth, not lying.

“We can save this conversation for later. For now, let’s talk about the Tarantera Guards who infiltrated the Draco Family.”

“…….”

“I, Aira-nim?”

Aira remained still, with her eyes closed. I wondered if she was lost in thought, but I soon heard a soft and steady breathing.

“Aira-nim, are you asleep?”

Snore, snore…

Wasn’t this almost narcolepsy? Come to think of it, I hadn’t asked why Aira needed so much sleep.

* * *

Seureureuk-.

The servant, with her face covered by a black cloth, transferred Aira to the bed.

Despite complex conversations and all sorts of miscellaneous things happening, Aira remained asleep. It was as if she had eaten a poisoned apple.

After tucking Aira in with a blanket, the servant said to me.

“Tarantera-nim needs rest. Leave and don’t be a distraction.”

She made no secret of her hostility towards me. I could see now. It wasn’t Aira who sent the Tarantera Family’s Guards after me, it was her.

Why would she hate me so much? I didn’t recall ever doing anything to her.

As I stepped outside, I asked her.

“Who are you?”

“I am Lily.”

“Lily…?”

“… You don’t know anything about me? You? You’re lying, right? Tarantera-nim must have talked about me extensively.”

“I don’t recall hearing about you…”

“Don’t lie!”

Her emotions seemed extremely unsettled. While I was stunned for a moment, Lily growled behind the black cloth.

“I know Tarantera-nim the best, I’m closest to her! The Queen even gave me a name…!”

I see. Lily was the name Aira personally gave her. Probably meaning the flower lily. She didn’t quite fit the image of the white lily I know….

“Tarantera-nim didn’t say a word about me. That’s impossible. She must have, but you just forgot. Half-Fairy…! Admit it…!”

“…….”
