Chapter 95: Stone Fragment

But instead of feeling a piercing pain on his head, Fang Lin only felt a weird sensation on his skull. He felt as if there was something lodged on his head. He did not feel any pain from this.

Fang Lin only felt as if there was something inserted his head, without the pain. He opened his eyes, and he found that the spear thrown at him was still lodged at his forehead!

Out of all the weird things that Fang Lin experienced in this strange place, seeing himself survive a spear impalement was definitely at the top of his list now.

Fang Lin then used his qi to analyze the spear.

He found out that the spear fully pierced through his head, with more than half of it protruding from the back of Fang Lin’s head. The tip of the spearhead managed to embed itself on the index finger of the giant.

The giant howled in pain as it shook his finger pierced with the spear. The spear flew off, bringing Fang Lin with it. Fang Lin unceremoniously landed in front of the masked group, with the spear still pierced through him. Fang Lin then watched in fascination as the giant violently trembled and warped itself again.

A few seconds passed by and the giant slowly faded away. Its body disintegrated into dust that scattered into the air.

The masked people raised their spear as they shouted,

“Uha! Uha!”

As for the spear embedded on Fang Lin’s forehead, it disintegrated too, with its ashes mixing with the ashes of the giant earlier.

Upon feeling that the spear already disappeared, Fang Lin hurriedly touched his forehead. He sighed in relief as he felt no hole on any part of his head.

But this discovery also made him frown on confusion.

How was Fang Lin able to survive that attack? There must be at least some marks that the spear hit him. Did his body became intangible? What’s the deal with this place?

While Fang Lin silently ruminated these things, he saw the leader of the masked people approaching Fang Lin. Fang Lin tensed his body as he observed this person warily.

To Fang Lin’s surprise, the masked person knelt down with his right knee in front of Fang Lin. The other masked people followed suit, also kneeling on their right knee.

All of them had their bodies bowed slightly as they sent worshipping looks towards Fang Lin.

“Hu! Hu! Hu!”

They continuously chanted these words as the masked man in front of Fang Lin approached him. The masked man reached deep on his fur robes. After some seconds of fumbling, the masked man drew out a stone fragment.

This stone fragment seemed to have weathered many events. Its surface was cracked, with its edges chipped off. The stone seemed so brittle that Fang Lin reckoned that one strike might crumble this stone to pieces.

But Fang Lin then felt a strange aura emanating from the stone. Fang Lin realized that this stone was releasing an aura comparable to a Foundation Establishment Scripture!

Foundation Establishment Scriptures contains dao revelations within them that helps a First Stage Cultivator to step in the Second Stage. There are two types of Foundation Establishment Scriptures, artificial and natural.

Artificial Foundation Establishment Scriptures are usually in the form of paper scrolls. Since the dao revelation can be easily imprinted in the paper, practitioners relied mostly on paper as the storage medium of dao revelations. They are highly convenient to carry and store.

But the problem with using paper as the medium was that only until Emperor Grade Dao Revelations can be imprinted on them. No matter what the practitioners did, any Dao Grade above the Emperor Grade won’t just work.

The practitioners of course tried to use other materials, but to their surprise, they could not imprint dao revelations on any other materials other than paper.

All in all, using Artificial Foundation Establishment Scriptures is a must for most cultivators, but with Fang Lin’s Dao Grade, these scriptures won’t help him at all.

Fang Lin can only rely on the second type, the Natural Foundation Establishment Scripture.

As its name implies, Natural Foundation Establishment Scriptures are those on which it was the universe itself that imprinted the Dao Revelations.

Natural Foundation Establishment Scriptures can come in any medium because the universe seemed to have no restriction on where to put the dao revelations. But the usual medium for this type of scripture was at large blocks of stone.

Not only that, but the Dao Grades of that can be used on the Natural Foundation Establishment Scripture can be from the Human until the Paragon Grade!

This specialty made the Natural Foundation Establishment Scripture to be highly valuable to any Qi Condensation Cultivator! As long as they acquire this scripture with a high grade dao, their future accomplishments will be limitless!

The Heavens however was fair and just. Natural Foundation Establishment Scriptures were extremely rare. Nobody knows how many of them even existed at all.

But when one of these scriptures does surface, all powers shall start a bloody struggle for it!

This is how valuable a Natural Foundation Establishment Scripture was!

As for Fang Lin, he can only use Natural Foundation Establishment Scripture to step in the Second Stage. But with its rarity, Fang Lin was at a big dilemma on how to find one.

But today at this strange place, he found one!

“No,” Fang Lin thought to himself as he observed the stone fragment offered to him. “This stone fragment seems.... incomplete.”

Even though this stone fragment was surely a Foundation Establishment Scripture, Fang Lin felt that this stone fragment was actually just a part of a whole. From what he can sense, the original stone was divided into five parts. The stone fragment in front of Fang Lin was one of that five fragments.

Fang Lin tried to speak to the man kneeling in front of him. But before Fang Lin could open his mouth, the masked man repeatedly pressed the stone fragment towards Fang Lin’s palms.

Fang Lin had no choice but to just accept the stone fragment.

Once he touched the fragment, Fang Lin felt as if there was an imaginary door on his soul that creaked slightly open. To his dismay, this door quickly closed. Fang Lin then realized that only once he gathered all the five fragments that he can push that door open all the way.

Upon further inspection of the stone fragment with his qi, Fang Lin felt four faint signals. Fang Lin determined that these signals were the location of the other four fragments.

With his head full of questions, Fang Lin attempted to speak again to the masked man but suddenly, he heard a snipping sound echo inside his mind.

“Snip, snip!”

Fang Lin’s vision turned dark as his other senses faded. The last thing he noticed before his consciousness disappeared were the panicked shouts of the masked people.

“Haaa!!!”

Not a second later, and Fang Lin opened his eyes as he gasped deeply. He breathed in and out for a several seconds to calm himself down. His whole body was sweaty and is body was sore, as if he underwent a straining activity.

He looked down at his right hand and he saw the stone fragment in there, within his grasp. But before Fang Lin could marvel at his luck, a hand came out of nowhere and snatched the stone fragment. It was the bratty boy’s hand.

“You!” Fang Lin managed to speak this word as he glared angrily at the boy. The boy just laughed, while he played with the scissor on his left hand.

“Snip, snip.”

Upon hearing this, Fang Lin realized that this boy must have used the scissor to expel him from that place.

“Hahaha, you actually got this stone fragment! You really are useful!” The bratty boy laughed shrilly while happily clutching the stone fragment. “It seems like my ‘make-over’ now seemed successful!”

“That was your make-over?” Fang Lin incredulously thought to himself. “How is that related to that place! You suck at naming!”

The boy looked back at the furious Fang Lin. He then picked up another syringe as he said,

“It seems like I have to discipline you more!”
