The Conquerors Path
-
chapter-753
We sat on one of the hills overlooking the whole city below us, the beauty of it not lost to my eyes, the people moving around, while Mira sat beside me, watching down at the city as I spoke.
"Mira, do you want to speak of our true relationship with my mother?"
The sudden question made her twitch as she looked at me, her head on my shoulder, our hands still intertwined as she spoke with a hesitant voice.
"I want to, but I don't know how."
To this, after a second of silence, I spoke."You do know about the proposal Empress Lora brought, right?"
My words made her twitch again, and for a moment, I felt all the mana around tremble and shift, the world itself feeling suffocated for a moment as Mira spoke.
"I do."
Her voice was barely audible, to which I, with a smile, continued to speak.
"Even Olivia seems to find the whole proposal acceptable, and though my mother is not pushing for it, she doesn't seem against it either. All she wants is for me to just find my own love."
My words only made the atmosphere even darker, the whole mana particles seemingly trembling at hyper speed, while I could literally feel the mana around me shifting and twisting.
'Now that is some legendary control.'Thinking so, I continued to speak while holding Mira close.
"I don't plan on accepting it at all, as I already have the woman I have always dreamed of in my arms...."
As I said this, I made sure to tighten the hold on her hands, making her feel safe as I continued to speak.
"But above that, there is a truth that I have been fearful of speaking until now, but I think it's time for it..."
Reaching this point, I didn't hesitate to pull Mira into my embrace, our eyes meeting for a moment as I held Mira close to me, her body pressed against mine as I stared at the sky and started to speak.
"You know about the sudden disappearance of the dragon princess and the half-dragon Scarlet, right?"
My words made Mira focus as she lightly nodded at it, seeing this, I continued forth.
"Well, the thing is, there existed a situation I was forced into during the academy...." "Forced into? Whatever kind of situation was it?"
Mira asked, her eyes and face now fully focused on me with her own hands on my lap, to which my face turned down to meet hers, a little bit of fear, some mix of guilt, and a large amount of helplessness flowing directly towards Mira as I spoke.
"Haaaa.....the situation is simple, I was forced to date the half-dragon Scarlet....."
The world fell silent.......literally.....
The world literally went silent for me as I looked at the face of Mira, which had turned impassive, no emotion being seen on her face. But even if nothing was seen on the outside, it doesn't mean things aren't happening on the inside.
'I will pray you all to survive.'
I thought, looking down at the whole city that was trembling. I could see several of the people spread about, all the way on their knees, kids and adults all seemingly clutching to the ground and begging for air, the pressure on them so high, and the mana they lived with all their life as their companion now seemingly their enemy acting against them.
"Dating?....."
Mira finally spoke, that single word extremely pressured as she did so, her gaze seemingly vacant for a moment, the whole world seemingly falling into darkness. I was the only one not suffering, thanks to Mira's 'very' good control, but I was indeed facing pressure in another way.
'Thank god for the emotion transfer control I had placed on her in the past.'
The only thing giving a lot of clarity to Mira's mind is the fact of my emotions flowing deeply into her, marking her in her depth, showing her that there is more to it. Thus, her eyes fully darkened, focused on me, awaiting further of my words. So I acted fast before the whole city below me disappeared from existence.
My hands went forth to hold Mira's face, making her focus on me, her eyes still feeling a bit vacant but still willing to listen as I, with a focused gaze, spoke.
"Nothing happened, the only maximum we did was my hand being forcibly held by her!" 'Ufff.....'
The pressure seemingly went overboard. I could see the citizens now laying flat on the ground, the mana simply now their greatest enemy, rushing forth and hurting them, the mana that had flowed smoothly in their body now hurting and slowly killing them. As Mira, with a robotic tilt of her head with those darkened silver eyes, spoke.
"Just held hands, you mean I wasn't the first to do so?"
Mira asked.
'Is that really the most important thing right now?'
Though I wanted to shout that out right now, I held it in, for I had already anticipated all of this. Smiling, I held her cheeks a bit harder, my lips going to place a kiss on her forehead, after which I gave it a poke, a smile filling my face as I spoke.
"Stop being so dramatic and listen to the whole thing before you go bonkers, you are hurting the ones below, after all."
My words quickly made her regain her senses as Mira looked at the city that was barely holding on, her emotions quickly coming in check as she dealt with the issue, giving back the lives of the citizens who thought they had just seen their end, her gaze now back to normal, holding those intelligent sparkling gazes I like to always see.
'Thank god for the mature mage with a good mind.'
No matter how much Mira acts so lovey-dovey, she is still the future of the mage tower. Due to her obsession, she would have lost control for a moment, but that is normal for the woman's side to experience such jealousy and emotions for the first time, especially when she has such a high level of emotions for me.
But as always, she is also very rational and more mature, which means that Mira is quickly able to get a grasp of herself. If not, she would never have reached the heights she has. Thus, with a focused gaze, she even went forth to guide the mana around to embrace and heal them, which quickly happened, and the people finally felt alive again.
Though, that didn't go out of the way to get rid of the fear filling their bodies, as many of them started to kneel and cry to the side, some started to run away, the merchants fleeing with their lives, the families seemingly checking on their loved ones. Overall, the festival was completely ruined, and perhaps even, in a sense, the city too.
Thus, having settled the things, Mira turned to face me, a flash of guilt on her face. But before she could say anything, I hugged and pulled her close to me, keeping her face on my chest, I hugged her body tight as I spoke.
"It's not your fault. I knew how you would react when you got to know the truth, and I did this of my will. I am the one that did this, so you don't have to feel all that bad."
My words had a slight effect as I felt Mira relax a bit in my embrace, after which she raised her head from my chest, her gaze controlled as she, with a light smile, spoke.
"I am not so weak to fall from this, you know?"
To this, with a loving smile, I replied.
"I know, but we are a couple, lovers, and at times, it's our responsibility to be the strength for
our loved ones, even if they show they don't need it."
Mira, the mature mage, pouted at those words as she spoke.
"Humph...show-off."
"Guilty as charged."
I replied back with a chuckle as I held her soft, supple waist, pulling her body closer as we faced each other. Mira melted in my embrace, her favourite spot now, no doubt, being my lap as she wrapped her hands around my neck, her forehead going to match mine, our eyes meeting each other as Mira spoke.
"You are right; we are each other's strength, so tell me the whole story now. I want to listen, and don't you think for a moment I hadn't picked up the wordplay you used when you even spoke about the dragon princess, too."
I smiled wryly at the last of her words, though thankfully at heart that she had spiked it up.
Unlike Olivia, who would go mad just dealing with Scarlet, I need Mira to actually be wary and deal with both Scarlet and Celestinia. Unlike Olivia, Mira will be more resourceful in how she
deals with it.
Thus, focusing on Mira, I started to speak.
"It's a funny story when you hear about it....."
With that, I began the story, the story of how I first met a tomboy girl in the slums fighting for
her mother, who went on to be the first half-dragon in the world, to how I met the most powerful species' princess in a forest as she betrayed me to death.
