The Conquerors Path
-
chapter-789
"How far along have the tensions risen?"
I asked Nihil, who stood at attention, the man answering my question.
"It's gotten worse than before, all of them seemingly want to be at the top, but not many spots exist."
My expression turned thoughtful as I took in the information. Of course, to the normal eye, I would look like I was going through some thought process, but in truth, my senses spread across the area, covering the whole damn academy. No information would be hidden from my sight as I started to take in some of the information.
'Information networks would kill for a skill like this.'I thought with a smirk as I started to dive in and understand all the information flowing through my mind. Within seconds, I saw through and understood several of the plans being laid ahead. The whole situation twisted around, and along with it, I also detected some of the hidden, corrupted individuals surrounding the academy.
'This is a whole lot worse than I thought.'
The amount of individuals to take care of is more than I expected, but this also means there's more to use for the story I have in play. Right now, I have a goal, and for that to come into action, I must be careful about how I spin this tale. And all the information I'm gathering is helping me create a better plan.
'Uff... this is more serious than I thought.'
With my current situation, I don't have to use the riskier approach of using the spyware I kept on the girls. Now, I have a live view capable of handling and observing the girls at the same time, and I can see the fuse I have lit has slowly started to spread, affecting everyone who wants a much bigger approach towards me.
'She's definitely going crazy.'
I snickered on the inside, seeing how mad Emily was getting, her plans to get close to me not working at all, and every time she tried something, it just blew up in her face. I could see the dark circles in her eyes as Emily made a new plan. The whole situation of hers was funny enough, and for now, I think it's enough that I tease her this much."What are you looking at?"
I suddenly asked back to Nihil, who kept looking at my face with a confused expression. The dude was standing seriously in front of me, looking at my face in confusion, after which he would shake his head as if that was not a good thought at all. Even though I could understand where he was coming from, I just wanted to tease him a bit.
"No-Nothing."
Nihil said, trying to keep his gaze straight, but I wasn't going to let that go, so my expression turned serious as I asked,
"Is there something on my face?"
To which Nihil, caught red-handed, tried to speak, but before he could, I used my little corruption to make him a little more open. Thus, the truth fell from his lips.
"It's just... you look very handsome. More beautiful? I don't know..."
The man in question himself blinked his eyes after he said those words, a bit of embarrassment filling his face. Even so, he kept his expression straight, and since he fell into the hole, he seemed intent on staying there.
I showed a surprised expression at his words, looking at the man with doubtful looks, which he quickly understood as Nihil replied,
"I'm straight."
"I hope so."
I replied with a teasing remark, but that didn't make Nihil break out of character as he kept his face straight. Even with me keeping my things in check, the natural feel a God gives to a mortal still exists within my body, making it harder for those who usually mess around with me to do the same as before.
It's the same unique feeling you get when you are in front of something you can't fully comprehend. In this world where the divine mixes and mingles with everything, there exists a strict hierarchy that cannot be easily broken down, which means, in this case, the ones meeting me would feel like I am of much higher quality.
'No, that's not how it is.'
A thoughtful look took over me. The main term for it would be a certain divine feeling, making those meeting me feel like they are standing in front of something they can't go against or spite. It would be more accurate to say that I feel better and more attractive in every way, even if I try to hide it.
"Let's just act like those words were never said and get back to the topic."
I spoke, to which Nihil replied,
"Agreed."
And thus, things went back to something normal as I started to speak, leaning into my chair.
"How are things coming along with integrating and creating a squad fully related to
archery?"
"It's coming along well. We have recruited some decent members, and team training has already begun. We would be unstoppable by the end of it all."
I nodded my head, taking in the info. It's to be expected, after all, there already exist a lot of individuals here with less social standing but equally talented who desperately need a way to a big occupation. Of course, graduating from here guarantees a good job, but it's also good to get a good job from here.
It means to suck up well to someone who might be able to give them a very good position that would supersede what they could get otherwise. It also means riding on the coattails of the extremely powerful geniuses that would rise from here. And now, I am at the core of it, making me a very highly desired figure to work under.
I would still hear stories of how people who joined my faction and left early due to arrogance or stupidity or some spying would cry with regret as they slept on their beds. Right now, my faction is the hot potato that everyone wants a bite of, and now, not everyone would even be
able to enter this place.
"What about taking over the Archery Club?"
My request made Nihil flinch for a moment, after which he spoke,
"It wasn't easy before. While we were making good progress, there still existed a large number of loyal people who supported Princess Carmel and still wanted her to rule over it. But things took a sharp turn now."
"Let me guess, the resistance finally fell?"
My words made Nihil look at me with a questioning gaze, after which he started to speak.
"That's right. Suddenly, the resistance started to fall until we almost seemingly got easy access to take control of the club."
I nodded in understanding, this being goodwill from Carmel, who seemingly owes me a lot.
To which I asked,
"So, how far along are we in it?"
"That department of using people is within the hands of Elysia, and she was supposed to
speak of it when she came here, but it seems she didn't..."
Nihil stopped at that, but I understood what he meant. To which, with a light smirk, I thought
of something as I spoke.
"How did the situation before of death affect you?"
My question this time broke Nihil out of his serious character as I saw and felt the pure fear and awe emanating from him. By now, the information has already spread to the top about what happened. Even I read the messages and talks going on about how the legendary Fenrir had returned and acted upon this academy.
The official cover-up being given is the fact that Fenrir, after awakening, seemingly lost its mind for a moment and hunted upon this area, looking for something. Once s
It didn't find it, "it" left, but it left a lasting impression on everyone that they would have
died at a moment's notice.
"How did it feel like?"
I asked another question, to which Nihil, seemingly getting a small grip on himself, spoke. "I understood how small I really am and how fast I could lose my life."
It was a small affirmation, but it took all his willpower to say it, and from Nihil's gaze, I could
see a very powerful spark, a beautiful one. When people face the ultimate power gap like this, one of two things would happen. One they would succumb to it and turn into ones that would curse their weakness, striving to be nothing.
Then, the second group would learn from it, take that situation to heart, and grow from it. These people would go on to reach heights that will march towards the top.
'I am happy to see he chose the 2nd path'
