Chapter 49: The Water Ghost (1)

Ye Sui didn’t know what Chen Shu was thinking, but she decided to tell him what she had just discovered.

Ye Sui asked, “You guess what was I looking at?”

Chen Shu was dazed and stunned. He had blocked Ye Sui from seeing the painter. However, unexpectedly, she opened up a topic regarding him.

“You know what? There’s a beautiful ghost there.” Suddenly, Ye Sui remembered the fact that Chen Shu couldn’t see ghosts. “Sorry, I forgot you can’t see it.”

It turned out she was looking at a ghost. Chen Shu suddenly laughed. He raised his eyebrows and motioned for Ye Sui to continue.

“There’s a painter over there, and I saw a beautiful water ghost coming out of the water and standing beside him,” Ye Sui explained. “I think they must have a past.”

Chen Shu was not interested in beautiful people, let alone a ghost that he could not see.

Since Ye Sui was looking at the pretty ghost, Chen Shu moved aside so that she could see the painter beside the lake.

Ye Sui looked again at the painter’s spot, sighing regretfully. It seemed that the painter today closed a bit earlier, and the beautiful water ghost had already left.

“She’s gone.” Ye Sui stressed again, “Really stunning.”

Chen Shu asked, “Do you like to watch beautiful people?”

Ye Sui grunted, “Who doesn’t like to see beautiful people? It’s a feast for the eyes.”

Chen Shu thought of the sentence “all women like to be praised”. Believing that this was an excellent opportunity and should be grasped well, he wondered how should he naturally praise Ye Sui?

Chen Shu racked his brain for a whole minute and finally spat out a sentence. “You can look in the mirror.”

On a beautiful night in Yunnan, they gazed at each other. The wind was blowing, the leaves were rustling, and laughter was coming from afar. Under the tree, the couple was separated into their own small world.

Hearing Chen Shu’s words, the air here suddenly quieted down, and the temperature plummeted, as if it were cold like the Arctic Circle.

No one spoke, remaining silent for a while. The two realized that the atmosphere had become very awkward. Ye Sui’s muteness had already caused Chen Shu’s heart to beat faster.

Where did this sweet talk come from? Ye Sui felt that Chen Shu would start telling cold jokes now, so she had to say something.

Ye Sui gave two face-saving laughter and patted Chen Shu on the shoulder. “That’s funny! What a good joke.”

Unexpectedly, Ye Sui’s laughter caused Chen Shu’s heart to beat wildly.

In a game called “Straight Guy Knocked Out Method”, if Chen Shu was a player, he would fall off the stage after receiving Ye Sui’s cruel blows.

Wasn’t it that women liked to be praised? Chen Shu did not understand his mistake. What went wrong?

Chen Shu coughed, covering his embarrassment quietly. “It’s really a joke.”

Suffered by repeated blows, Chen Shu went on walking with Ye Sui, who did not know anything. Ye Sui was so cheerful and completely unaware of Chen Shu nearby, who was still pondering over whether he was wrong today.

In the evening, Ye Sui still wore her hat. She accompanied Chen Shu to Yunnan, enjoying this trip of eating, drinking, and having fun.

The wind suddenly became strong and blew in their direction, carrying her hat away instantly. Her soft long hair scattered in the air and drew a breathtaking scene, eventually spreading over her shoulders and staying there naturally.

The passers-by glanced at Ye Sui unconsciously. Although she was wearing sunglasses and a mask on her face, she still looked familiar.

Ye Sui panicked, but her hat had been blown to an unknown place. Chen Shu subconsciously held out his hand, clenched her arm, and pulled her into his embrace. The passers-by who cast their eyes could only see a woman with long black hair in the arms of a handsome man.

Ye Sui couldn’t react to the fact that she was now in Chen Shu’s arms. Just now, his mind was completely blank. He had only one thought, ‘Ye Sui must not be discovered.’

Chen Shu became nervous when he realized his action. Ye Sui’s cheek clung to Chen Shu’s chest and heard his heart beating wildly.

Ye Sui was somewhat astonished. Chen Shu held her in his embrace, motionless, and his face seems to be slightly flushed.

Because at this moment, Chen Shu’s emotions were about to burst!

It was totally different from the little joke she had thought in her heart before.

The sweet nothings by Chen Shu were useless to Ye Sui, but he inadvertently made a move to protect her, which was quite effective.

It seemed to have been sprinkled a little bit.

Considering Ye Sui’s problems, Chen Shu returned to the hotel early.

The three ghosts in the room had been scared away by Chen Shu. Ye Sui took a bath at ease. She had just stepped out of the bathroom when the door was suddenly knocked.

Ye Sui walked over and opened the door. Chen Shu was standing outside in his pajamas. Thinking that he had something to say, she pushed the door wider without any defense.

Chen Shu took a few steps into the room, then stood still, turned around, and said to Ye Sui, “I’ll sleep here tonight.”

Ye Sui was in a daze, without any response.

Chen Shu was afraid of Ye Sui misunderstanding and added immediately, “You’re afraid of ghosts, so I’ll sleep on the sofa.”

Chen Shu took out the spare quilt from the wardrobe and put it on the sofa. Looking at him, tidying the back of the quilt, Ye Sui didn’t tell him that the ghosts had been scared away and that there was no one left.

Ye Sui smiled. “Thank you.”

After Ye Sui got into the quilt, Chen Shy said, “I’m turning off the lights.”

With a click, the lights on top of the room went out, the whole room plunging into darkness. The heavy curtains almost blocked out all the light coming from outside.

When Ye Sui looked at Chen Shu, she could only see a rough outline and could not see his body clearly.

Although there were no ghosts in the room, Chen Shu slept on the sofa not far away from her, which made her feel particularly at ease.

When Ye Sui closed her eyes and was about to fall asleep, Chen Shu suddenly opened his mouth and called her name, “Ye Sui.”

Ye Sui slightly opened her eyes.

Chen Shu asked Ye Sui a question without any reason. “Do you like living in a house with a view of the sea? For example, in Yunnan.”

Ye Sui’s drowsiness hit her, and her consciousness was somewhat blurred. Nonetheless, she still wanted to think carefully about Chen Shu’s question. “Yes, the scenery here is beautiful and relaxing.”

Ye Sui wanted to continue to say something. Suddenly, her voice gradually lightened, leaving only a quiet breathing sound.

Chen Shu tentatively called Ye Sui again. This time, his voice was much lighter. After a while, he did not get Ye Sui’s answer.

After confirming that Ye Sui was asleep, Chen Shu uncovered the quilt, walked down from the sofa, and came to her bedside.

The light was very dim, and the outline of Ye Sui’s face was somewhat fuzzy in the night. However, her facial features were too beautiful, just to his liking.

Chen Shu stared at Ye Sui for a moment. He crouched down beside her bed and then bent slightly to ease his movements.

Then…
