The Great Thief
-
chapter-1036
He wasn't expecting anything Legendary out of the chests, but he still had a tiny glimmer of hope within.
This was how gaming was – everyone would dream about looting something extraordinary. All those who dared to look down on them would be lining up to pay their price.
It was rare for Lu Li to have these kinds of issues, but he was still slightly disappointed when he saw the item that he looted.
Dismantle Armor!
It wasn't that this skill book was horrible – in fact, it was one of the most popular skill books amongst Thieves. It was even more popular than some of the Enhancement skills out there.Only a handful of players had this skill in the China server, but one of them happened to be Lu Li!
"Damn you, Nameless Old Sailor; why couldn't you just slightly adjust your loot? Even if you changed it to something less valuable, it would still be more worthwhile for me.
Most classes didn't mind having a wide variety of skills. No matter how useless a skill seemed, it would prove to be of use under certain circumstances. The game wouldn't design anything completely pointless.
Unfortunately, this dilemma he was in had no solution.
Lu Li packed away the valuable skill book and continued to loot the chest.
Given that the first item was Dismantle Armor, the second item mightn't be so bad after all.
The sunken sea chests didn't have any levels, or key requirements. They were one of the easiest chests to open, but the rewards were also lower than most treasure chests in the same level map. Usually, it would be good enough for these boxes to drop one good item. For example, all the chests that Lu Li had opened before gave mostly nothing but trash.Ding!
It was the sound effect for a gemstone. For Lu Li, this was like heavenly music to his ears.
He would probably even dream about this beautiful sound later when he went to bed after his game time.
He clasped the gem tightly in his hands and opened his eyes slowly to check out the attributes. This was like a game that he had played before in the past. The game had a system where you could gamble and pay for a gem which came with all sorts of stats. Countless players who wanted to try their luck went broke from this.
Equipment Level Requirement -10%.
Lu Li was relieved to see that this was exactly what he was looking for.
The Nameless Old Sailor was too kind to him.
What Lu Li didn't know was that these sunken ships had different tiers. The smallest ship would have one or two chests and a medium one would have given around ten, while a large ship might have had a dozen or more.
The ship that he was on was definitely a large ship.
All large ships had special rooms and these rooms were only available for players who explored the ship first. If Lu Li came again next time, he wouldn't see the Nameless Old Sailor anymore.
This was an incentive that the game provided for adventurous players.
As for the losses that these players experienced in the process of their adventure, the gaming company had no comment.
There was nothing else left besides a book called "Old Sailor's Travel Dairy". Lu Li picked it up and packed it away carefully.
Those who were uneducated often paid a lot more respect to books. This was the same both in real life and in game.
There was most likely some surprise hidden by the gaming company in this diary to add to the lore of the game.
The fourth room opened, revealing a chest called 'Plyfit's Luggage'. When Lu Li opened it, a Mage-type ghost appeared. It seemed like the System was going to increase the difficulty for Lu Li.
The monster was level 55 with ninety thousand health points and was equivalent to a semi-boss.
Lu Li felt troubled, but he had to at least give it a shot.
The two engaged in a few rounds of attacks and Lu Li lost 300 points of health while only dealing around 100 points to the ghost.
Fortunately, control effects still applied or else Lu Li would've turned and ran.
He performed a normal attack first, just to calculate the difference in power between him and Plyfit. Plyfit lost around 1/3 of his health while Lu Li was almost about to die.
He first moved away from Plyfit and went into Stealth mode.
Although the detection ability of ghost type monsters was great, as long as Lu Li went into Stealth a little further away, he wouldn't get caught.
Just as Garona Halforcen had said, there was no such thing as definite detection. The only reason you got caught was because you were unskilled, and the same rule applied on the opposite end. There was no absolute Stealth – only inadequate detection..
When Plyfit recovered his health from 2/3 to full, Lu Li watched, but wasn't too annoyed about it.
When you left battle mode, Plyfit's health would return to full. This was a solid rule in Dawn, so players couldn't fight monsters, then run to heal and come back to battle again.
However, he managed to take down thirty thousand points of Plyfit's health which gave him some hope.
Although Plyfit had high stats, he didn't have any powerful skills.
Besides Shadow Bolt, he only had two others.
One was Decadent Music, which was similar to a Bard skill. It reduced the movement speed of players and dealt no damage. The purpose of this skill was to pave the way for the other skill.
The other skill created a puddle of poison that spread into the waters. Players needed to quickly escape the range of the poison to minimize the damage taken.
Even if Lu Li lost 40% of his movement speed, he was still too fast for the poison. As suchm his damage taken remained consistent.
Some said that players could use items, while under normal circumstances, monsters couldn't drink potions.
Others said that players had intelligence while the intelligence of monsters was capped.
This was where Lu Li's source of hope came from – he was a player and could drink potions. He was also a Thief with control skills and his necklace also recovered health. He didn't even use any special effects in his last fight.
With the thought that he could still escape even if he lost, Lu Li began the fight again.
Right before he was about to reach critical health, Plyfit was defeated.
Without skills, magic type monsters were nothing but a piece of cake.
Unfortunately, Plyfit wasn't as generous as the Nameless Old Sailor. He only donated a Gold tier crossbow, which was worse than what Lu Li had anticipated.
He thought that the deeper he entered, the better the rewards would be. The monsters that appeared seemed to support this, so he didn't expect Plyfit to be so stingy.
Next, he would probably be matched up against semi-bosses or even Bosses with a hundred thousand points of health.
Lu Li didn't feel like he could take down the next coming semi-Boss. He had almost given up on Plyfit.
