The Great Thief

chapter-1068
"Alright, I'll give it to you!"
This was Lu Li's most generous moment ever, in his reborn life. It was also his most willing moment.
He had given people equipment when he was in desperate for gold. This wasn't stupidity – he believed in the mantra that if you didn't give, you wouldn't receive. When he placed the interests and benefits of others above his own, he understood that group unity was the most important, even if the thought of having everything to himself had crossed his mind.
He knew from experience, that short-sighted people would remain at the bottom.
However, this time was his first time being completely willing. Had she asked for something like the Felstriker, would he have given it to her? Possibly.Water Fairy removed her veil and revealed her joyful expression.
"Remove that mask please. It's a little horrifying," Water Fairy said as she stored away the skill book, instead of learning it straight away.
Lu Li immediately removed his headgear. There weren't many monsters or quests around this area, so there wouldn't be people here anyway. Even if there were, missing one item wouldn't make him easy to kill anyway.
Furthermore, there was absolutely no one that could challenge both Lu Li and Water Fairy at the same time.
Both of them had seemingly decided to go down this road, regarding their relationship. Although they had grown closer and closer over time, Lu Li did not dare to hold her hands, if he even knew how to at all.
Water Fairy also did not initiate, since she was a reserved person who wished to maintain her pride.
She hadn't done anything like this while growing up, since her stare was enough to scare away most males. For those who decided to ask her out, she would look at them quietly for a while. Then, they would feel that it was better to return and think over it harder. While Lu Li and Water Fairy walked, it seemed like time had slowed down.
They didn't realise this, but there were others who had spotted them. After spotting them, they posted pictures onto the forums, captioning them with, "Best wishes to these two; may they be happy!"
Suddenly, Lu Li and Water Fairy gained many fans who shipped them together.
"When do you think that the Legion will come?"
They couldn't keep walking in silence like that, so Water Fairy decided to ask something. Since Lu Li was an avid researcher of the game, this would be an interesting topic to talk about.
Once you start liking someone, you would gradually start caring about their interests and feelings. With romance and feelings, even the people involved were sometimes oblivious to it.
"I think we need to wait for a while, but the Scourge probably won't stay at the Plaguelands for much longer. There are many quests that involve the invasion of the Scourge on the forums. You can look forward to battling the Scourge," Lu Li said, deciding to tell her about what he had heard and seen.
As of now in Dawn, there were only two large-scale battles in the game.
One of them was the battle involving Maestra's Post Sentinel. The other was the one involving the Horde, where the Centaurs had invaded. However, this third one was going to be the largest and the one that would last the longest.
The Scourge had always existed. It was just that the only interactions that players had with them were through quests.
It was different now, since the Scourge had begun to invade cities, thus disrupting the players' everyday training grounds and lifestyle within the game.
The Scourge-filled territories would be turned to complete wastelands. Even the players' training maps would be affected by the plague. Furthermore, the Scourge had a sense of pride and patriotism.
Of course, the idea of rich EXP, high drop rates and fame had turned players into fanatics.
"After the next update, there might be a new Mentor system. Are you going to take students?" Lu Li asked.
"Probably not. It's too much hassle," Water Fairy answered as she shook her head. She was not an overly enthusiastic person. Even the people within the inner circle in her guild did not see her smile often.
"Actually, it might be a good idea to take someone on, since you can grind for fame this way."
Lu Li did not mind letting her in on some of the news regarding this update. Although, he probably would have hidden this information from her previously, since there weren't many people who knew of this. He could not explain it, but his secretive side just did not work as it usually did.
"I know that the System gives fame when mentors take students, but how does the grinding part work?"
As for the mentoring system, many websites had already announced it. However, there was barely any information about this, so everyone was curious.
The mentoring system could be activated between two players. The higher-levelled one would be the mentor, while the lower-levelled one would be the student. For every level that the student gained, the mentor would receive some fame and experience.
When the system first started, there weren't any level restrictions and the mentors could also take in many students at a time. As a result, this became a method of grinding experience points and fame. Unknown players would suddenly shoot up in the rankings with their extravagant fame totals. Fortunately, the game responded quickly, so this problem was contained.
Lu Li already planned for this, as he asked Square Root to organise many batches of low-levelled players.
The helmet used to enter the game was not expensive, so there were many new players that joined every day. Truthfully, the game company had implemented a Mentoring system to help the new players out. After finding a mentor, the mentor would give them gold and equipment and bring the student along to train.
Despite the responsibilities, players were still extremely keen to take students.
As soon as someone announced that they were taking students, people would flock towards the mentor.
After all, everyone wanted to look like a big shot.
Normal companies would advertise free or extremely cheap training services, then sell these players to larger companies who needed huge quantities of members. It was a win-win situation for both sides.
After hearing this from Lu Li, Water Fairy realised that this could be exploited.
This bug could be exploited for a day or two, after which it would be fixed. There would be a new restriction regarding the numbers of students that could be taken at a time, which was three. The rewards also increased as the students' levels got higher and there were also large rewards for the mentor when their student graduated. However, the students could only graduate once they were within five levels of the mentor.
