Chapter 1664: People as Kites

There was still some time before the game closed for the day, so of course, everyone wouldn’t rest yet.

Although they had achieved the First on from the second Boss, Ruling Sword’s superiority wasn’t overly evident. Everyone was familiar with the story of the Hare and the Tortoise, so the main thing was to increase the distance between their competitors.

They went back on the main road after killing the second Boss.

Ahead of them, there was a group of seven Vekniss Guardians, and to the left and right, there were another two groups each. Lu Li used six Tanks as well as Moonlight to divide up these monsters, pulling them to the wall and using AoE skills to finish them off.

The Vekniss Guardians were monsters they had dealt with before, so logically speaking, there shouldn’t be any problem in dealing with them.

However, there was a real chance of the whole team dying.

They killed the group ahead of them without any difficulty, but when they moved on to the left, the area the first group was spread across was simply too large, so they attracted another group. Fourteen Vekniss Guardians against the team created a humongous challenge. That was when players began to die.

Before they could stabilize the situation, the monsters also attracted the other two groups on the other side of the road.

Four groups, 28 Vekniss Guardians!

Anyone facing so many powerful monsters would feel hopeless. At that time, Lu Li allowed everyone to give up.

“Finished, we’re finished,” Azure Sea Breeze said with dull eyes and an extremely hopeless expression.

He had no way of resisting so many monsters. In fact, three monsters were their absolute limit.

“What do you mean finished? Can’t you be a bit more positive?!” Lu Li scolded, giving him a slap.

“I don’t suppose you have a plan?” Azure Sea Breeze said innocently.

“What if you pull the first group on the left over there to kill them? It’s just a bit more effort.”

Lu Li had plenty of reason to look down on him. His mental fortitude was still a little weak.

Apart from being reborn, Lu Li’s main advantage was that he was very mentally tough. No matter what hardships he encountered, they had no way of influencing his thinking.

Pulling the groups of monsters to where the first group stood would simply be a repeat of what it was like to kill the first group. The difficulty went straight from being almost impossible to a menial task.

Such a simple strategy couldn’t be thought up by anyone just like that.

At the very least, of the forty people here with Lu Li, only he was able to think of a solution in a moment. As such, he really wondered how long it would take the other clubs to think of a solution.

After travelling across this road, Battleguard Sartura was standing right in front of them.

Sartura was a flying insect with pink clothes and a veil. She had the a figure of an enchanting, beautiful woman – if you ignored the insect legs. If the veil was taken off her face, she would probably be frightening.

Sartura brought three followers, each of which looked like a mini version of her. They followed her very closely. It didn’t look like they could be pulled away to be killed separately.

“Let’s see if we can finish off this Boss before the game time ends. Everyone, get to it,” Lu Li said lightly.

It actually didn’t really matter if they could finish off the Boss or not.

With this remaining time of over an hour, if they could feel out the Boss’ skills, then that would already be pretty worthwhile.

Sartura didn’t have all that many skills. There was a Whirlwind that did heaps of damage; in just a second it could finish off a cloth-armored player. The good thing was that during a Whirlwind she could be Taunted. As long as a Main Tank was hodling her down, then there wouldn’t be a massive death toll from this skill.

There was another key skill which was Furor.

Furor and Berserk were similar, but Sartura’s Furor was based on time. Fifteen minutes after the battle started, she would begin to enter her first Furor. Twenty minutes later, she would enter her second.

This meant that you had to finish the battle within 20 minutes, otherwise, the battle would definitely be over. Even if she only had 1% HP after those 20 minutes, the players still might not have a chance to claim victory

Aside from this, there was Mortal Strike, as well as a skill like Armor Pierce. Generally speaking, this Boss was a Berserker type.

Sartura’s had about 1,500,000 HP, while her three followers had 300,000 each.

Today, the whole team dying would just be a matter of time. Too many people died at the front and there wasn’t enough damage output at the back. Without realizing it, the battle had already progressed beyond 20 minutes, so it was definitely over.

As such, Lu Li and co. could only wait until the second day to continue their campaign.

On the second day, more clubs were joining in. Most of the major guilds had already completed the opening quest and some had begun to enter Ahn’Qiraj Ruins. Some still held out hope, choosing to give up on the Ahn’Qiraj Ruins and going for Ahn’Qiraj Temple.

Get the First Clear!

People always had dreams, even though the chances were one in a million.

Not long into the second day, Seventh Heaven also finished with the second Boss. From their drops, they could easily deduce that someone had already gone on ahead of them.

However, they didn’t suspect it was Ruling Sword.

They thought Glory Capital was still at the very front. As for Ruling Sword, perhaps they were still stuck on the first Boss or on the smaller monsters. After all, they were also stuck on the smaller monsters in front of the first Boss for one or two days.

The greatest competitor in their eyes, Glory Capital, was currently being wiped by the 7 Vekniss Guardians. They didn’t fare all that well with the first group, and were struggling to finish them off.

“Careful, don’t pull the monsters on the side!” Sorrowless cried out until he lost his voice. The monsters here were attracted by spikes on the ground, but most players simply didn’t realize this at all. Everyone thought it had to do with where they were standing.

Glory Capital wiped here for two or three hours. In the end, it was someone in the group who usually didn’t speak much who suggested they aggro the monsters to a different location.

Sorrowless was dumbstruck.

Sometimes, smart people though too much and they missed the most simple, direct solution.

It would be most accurate to describe this battle as ‘people as kites’.

Since the damage from the Whirlwind was so high, and every second, more aggro was being accumulated, keeping the Boss still became an interesting but difficult problem.

Sartura and her three followers were patrolling in the main hall. It was very difficult to use Warriors to charge at them, because they was basically no way to heal from a collective Whirlwind.

Because of this, Lu Li instructed the tanks to position themselves, then draw aggro to ensure the team’s safety.

Two Tanks and a Hunter formed a small team, and they had four such teams, targeting Sartura and her three followers.

This required eight Main Tanks, which was really was too much. At least their equipment was good enough so that the other Plate-armor players were able to lend a hand in time. They could help the real Main Tanks pull the monsters.

“Alright, I hope this is the last time we have to fight this Boss. Everyone should well aware of what they’re doing now,” Lu Li said.

“No problem.”

Early in the morning, everyone was wide awake, so no one had an excuse.

“Then start. Mages, start on the monsters.”

Lu Li didn’t use Main Tanks to initiate this time, nor did he use hunters. The Mages cast Frost Novas, then used Ice Block. The monsters surrounded the invulnerable Mages, then following this, a few Tanks pulled them to the spots that Lu Li determined.

At this time, with the way the team was distributed, there were two options.

They could focus on the followers, killing each of the followers before Sartura. This was more suitable for a team with high DPS. Since the monsters would already be aggroed, the three followers would be scattered. Therefore, they needed each team’s substitute Warrior to make a timely Taunt once the followers lost their targets after the Whirlwind. That way, they would pull the followers back to their original positions, and at the same time, the DPS players could attack their set targets regardless of the Whirlwind. 300,000 HP could easily be dealt with.

If they focused on the Boss, they wouldn’t kill the three followers first, but attack Sartura. This was more suited for teams that didn’t have enough DPS but had enough healers. A Hunter would have to monitor the followers to make sure they weren’t casting a Whirlwind. Whichever one was not in that state would be stunned. Then, when the healers could guarantee the other Warrior’s health, they would focus their DPS. This could almost guarantee that the whole team of foryt would be in the game until the end.

These two methods had their own advantages and disadvantages. After thinking carefully for a while, Lu Li chose the first option because it was a little more stable. The second frequently led to team deaths.

“Magic roles, be careful to protect your lives. If you die too stupidly, I’ll take points off you,” Lu Li said, threatening them with the point punishment again. There was no choice. There were Whirlwinds flying all over the field and there was always someone actively leaving their position.

“We have to protect ourselves and make sure our DPS doesn’t get too low, Boss, you’re really asked a lot,” Fat Monkey mumbled in complaint.

“Yeah, it’s really annoying,” Lonesome Flower said, as he cast Ice Block.

“I’ll transform, transform, transform!”

With a whizzing sound, Hachi Chan transformed into a giant bear, twisting her bottom to run away from the Whirlwind. When she was escaping, she was still turning her head to show off her ugly face.

Calling it ‘people as kites’ wasn’t for fun. Everyone needed to stay moving to protect themselves, and, at the same, time, to do their job.

The Priests also needed to constantly pay attention to their own safety. As soon as they realized the Boss’ target wasn’t right, they would have to escape as quickly as they could. During the Boss’ Whirlwind, the target would keep changing, so at this time, if someone went up to Taunt, they should heal them quickly.

All roles had their uses, except the Thieves.

They basically couldn’t contribute DPS. The only other Thief apart from Lu Li was Water Fairy.

These two players were entirely dependent on their mechanics and equipment to survive.
