The Great Thief
-
chapter-737
The factions separated the game, but there wasn't really a deep hatred between the players.
At the very most, they would refer to each other as Alliance dogs or Horde pigs, but other than that, players from different factions would eat and drink together without any problems.
There was even a family that had members in both the Alliance and the Horde.
There were many Horde players who liked Tyrande, and there were many Alliance players who admired Queen Sylvanas.
"Saar was actually a slave and his real name was Go'el. He inherited the Blood Chief status within the Frostwolf Clan. His father Durotan and his mother Draka were both witnesses of the dark period when the old Horde rose. However, because of their open opposition to Gul'dan, their tribe was ousted. Both Durotan and Draka were also tragically assassinated by an assassin sent by Gul'dan…" Remulos explained."You're not asking me to assassinate Saar, are you?" Lu Li asked as he felt his stomach cramp up.
"How could I?" Remulos laughed. "I'm actually a friend of Saar; his Shaman ability is very deep and inspiring to me.
"Isn't Saar a Warrior?" Lu Li questioned, pretending to be surprised.
In fact, many other players thought that Blood Chief Saar was an Orc Warrior because they felt that only a Warrior could be worthy of his reputation. However, Lu Li had read enough information in his previous life to know that he was actually a Shaman.
Another way to put it was that he was a Shaman and a part-time Warrior.
"Shush now."
Remulos refused to answer his common-sense question and went on, "Go'el, who was still a baby, was almost killed. However, he was discovered by a human Sargeant called Edras Blackmoore. From then on, his extraordinary life began."Remulos profoundly narrated Chief Saar's growth with a look of admiration in his eyes.
Blackmoore adopted Saar and trained his fighting ability, but he also taught him that battles relied on the mind, and not purely strength. Sometimes, it was even necessary to show kindness.
The Sergeant actually tried to train Saar as an educated leader that would one day take over the enslaved Horde Orcs and conquer the world.
He was definitely a little ambitious, but in a way, he succeeded as Saar grew up to be a famous champion and slowly made his way to the top.
He didn't just conquer the mainland, like Blackmoore had wished.
If his motives were pure, then Edras Blackmoore would have been an admirable man. He would be a Sergeant who had actually brought up a Horde Chief that changed Azeroth's history.
Unfortunately, the history books were merciless.
"Lord Remulos, I don't understand what you mean by this story," Lu Li said with a yawn. When he first heard about Saar's experience, he felt a surge of emotion, but as someone who had experienced rebirth, this was just too much detail. Remulos' lecture painted a complete and epic picture of Saar.
"I want you to flee Durnholde with Saar…" Remulos said solemnly.
Lu Li was stunned. In his last life, he had heard about a group of players who had completed a quest called Escape from Durnholde. They had somehow gone back in time to the moment that Saar fled, and protected him as he escaped Durnholde.
As to why those players had the privilege of fighting side-by-side with Saar, there was almost no record of that.
The participants must have been the top players of the gaming circle and didn't find the need to publicize the information or write it down.
But, he had just been selected!
Lu Li then realized that it only made sense. He was the first person on the player rankings by a margin of two levels. There wasn't a single piece of equipment he had that wasn't unique and his technique was praised by countless players. He had also accumulated a significant amount of reputation, so there was really no surprise.
What's more, the power of election was in the hands of Remulos.
They were now old friends and had a mutual understanding of each other.
"Is it just me, or are there others?" Lu Li was curious. Was his effect on the game so great that he had turned a team quest into a solo quest?
"There are others, but they are currently being recruited. When the time is ripe, you will be sent into the past. Before that, you must upgrade yourself as quickly as you can. The quest must not be lost and you only have one chance. You must succeed."
Remulos was surprised at Lu Li's calmness. He was so unafraid that he had actually asked to do this quest alone.
"I will work hard, but I'm curious as to why we need to go back in time to help Saar escape. If he didn't manage to escape, how else would he have become the Chief of the Horde," Lu Li asked inquisitively.
Even in the game, time travel was no simple feat.
Only Bronze Dragons who were authorized by the Titans had such powers. It wasn't just a skill that they could simply use either; even the Bronze Dragon King Nozdormu wouldn't use their powers excessively.
"Surely you are aware that Azeroth has no shortage of people looking to stir up trouble?" Remulos asked.
Lu Li nodded. There were indeed many such people, such as the Orc Shaman Gul'dan, Night Elf Vandal Staghelm, Tauren Magatha Grimtotem…
"Because of these people, the conflict between the Horde and the Alliance is becoming more intense. It is slowly becoming unbearable," Remulos said with a pained look.
"Dammit, have they found a way to go back in time too?"
If those people had gone back in time to kill Saar, Lu Li would definitely turn away. The sky was falling and he was expected to hold it up, but Lu Li only wanted to help his sister.
"Of course not, but according to Nozdormu's intelligence, they have only sent low-level time hunters to attack him," Remulos quickly responded.
If the most powerful player didn't want the quest, who else would there be left?
"Low level? How low?" He didn't believe that monsters that could kill him would be that low levelled.
"Given the other adventurers who have been chosen, they will be level 50 and above. However, they aren't that strong," Remulos answered, trying to play it down.
"…" Lu Li held back his insults with great effort. They had such a good relationship and he didn't want to ruin it.
