The Great Thief
chapter-978

Lu Li was known as the best teacher in the gaming industry, but that didn't mean that Ms. Su would be the best student.

She was wild and playful, and also didn't have much talent for the game. She probably couldn't even remember 10% of what Lu Li had taught her, but he never expected much from her anyway.

To be fair, Ms. Su was the one who was really playing the game.

She would stop somewhere because the scene was too beautiful, and become distracted by a pretty flower when she fought monsters. If the monsters were too cute, she would even refuse to battle them.

Fortunately, her charm level seemed to be as high as Hachi Chan's and so was her luck.

This was a normal thing – she wasn't an average player, but the spokesperson for the game. The gaming company was already being fair by not instantly making her level 50 and giving her a god-tier set to wear.

Her Charm level not only determined how well she could get along with NPCs, but also allowed her to possibly gain more experience from quests.

This was also why Hachi Chan could spend less time leveling, but still be more highly-leveled than the majority of players. She was currently ranked tenth, in comparison to the other players who did nothing but train all day.

"Can I not have this shield? You asked me to kill 12 Kobold Miners, but I killed 15 for you," Ms. Su said seriously.

She didn't play this like a game at all; she was seriously bargaining with the NPC.

Marshal McBride, who handed out the quest, held his breath at what he had just heard. His intelligence level wasn't set to be too high, so this bargain wasn't something that he could process quickly. Perhaps it was Ms. Su's Charm that took effect, but he exchanged another shield for her, one that was petite and with better Attributes.

After a few times, Lu Li grew numb to this. He wasn't playing the same game as these players with high Charm levels.

He walked ahead and didn't fight monsters either – all he did was to protect Ms. Su from dying to the Defias Brotherhood. This was a clearing type of quest, one that was more dangerous amongst all the quests handed out from the beginner village. The monsters here were known to have a wide aggression range and refreshed quickly.

"What's your relationship with Water Fairy?" Ms. Su asked curiously. This was also the reason why she had chosen Lu Li to train her.

"Nothing. Our guild works with her's sometimes," Lu Li explained calmly.

"Do you think I'd believe that?" Ms. Su said as she batted her eyes.

"If you want to play a Paladin, I'd suggest you to take the healing path. They're easier to learn in terms of technique. You'd probably do well, and you don't have to worry about fighting monsters. You just need to learn a few damaging skills and have a set for damage. It'll still be efficient."

"Has anyone told you that you're really bad at changing topics?" Ms. Su sighed.

"I'm just trying to tell you that I don't want to talk about it. This was something that never existed in the first place, so what did you want me to admit to? Ms. Su, if you don't want a trainer anymore, I'm going first."

Lu Li pulled the corners of his lips; he felt extra tired today being someone else's nanny.

"Wait, I've called a friend. They're coming soon," Ms. Su said with a crafty smile on her face.

"I'm already here, Su Mei. Why aren't you doing your celebrity job, but here to play games instead?" a cold voice rang out behind Ms. Su. It caught her by surprise and she screamed as her face paled.

She had just started the game and it seemed like she wasn't familiar with Thieves who always appeared from nowhere.

"What are you screaming about?"

Water Fairy came out from the shadows and looked helplessly at Su Mei who was about to cry from being so frightened.

Although half of her face was covered and only her eyes were showing, Water Fairy was nothing less compared to Su Mei in terms of beauty. However, her popularity in the game was nothing compared to Su Mei, who was a real famous celebrity.

"You...You frightened me," Su Mei cried as he pointed at Water Fairy, so furious that she was almost speechless.

"I'm sorry I frightened you," Water Fairy apologized without much sincerity. "You still haven't told me why you're playing games, or has everyone finally figured that you're just a fake *****, and they've all stopped liking you?"

"You're a fake *****. Hmph, pretending all day and covering up your face as if you look good," Su Mei replied coldly.

"Just a bit prettier than you," Water Fairy shot back.

Lu Li stood on the side, a little stunned. He thought that these two were best friends and didn't expect them to be so sarcastic to each other.

"Don't forget I was the top beauty of the university. You were just the top beauty of the course," Su Mei said proudly.

"I can't be bothered to talk about this with you. Why did you ask me to come here?" Water Fairy sighed. She really didn't want to fight with someone else in front of Lu Li. It seemed like it would ruin her image, but Su Mei and her had been enemies from the day they entered university. This wasn't something that would be solved within a short period time.

"Help me level up! With two gaming masters helping me, I'd look so cool," Su Mei recovered quickly.

"For someone like you, even if a hundred people trained you, you wouldn't become a master."

Water Fairy was still being sarcastic out of habit, but at least she didn't turn around and walk away. Supposedly, she was more than just enemies with Su Mei.

"I know," Su Mei said as she turned her gaze. "Ai, let me ask, what's with you two? Why do all the people on the forums call you a damn couple?"

"What does that have to do with you?" Water Fairy retorted. "Don't ask someone to help you level up just because you're bored. Don't you know how precious time is for people like us? If you want someone to train you, just spend some money to find a trainer."

"But I want him!" Su Mei ran over in an attempt to hold Lu Li's arms, but he dodged her just in time.

"If the two of you know each other, then I'm going first," Lu Li said as he looked deeply at Water Fairy, not wanting to be a part of this drama. He finally understood the situation – it seemed like although these two girls knew each other, they most likely didn't get along.

"Ai, don't go! You promised me," Su Mei panicked.

She had fun in teasing the two. From what she knew about her old classmate, Lu Li definitely had to be someone different for Water Fairy.

"Goodbye."

Lu Li had already gone into Stealth and disappeared; he had no interest in staying to be a joke. Before he left, he also added, "I'll try and level up my Engineering after two days. I'll mail you the Arcanite Rifle after it's done."

"Eh... he really left. Is he really a man!" Su Mei was extremely angry.

"I'll train you, but don't expect me to be your nanny."

Water Fairy wasn't surprised at all by what had just happened. This was how Lu Li was; he did things his own way and was never impacted by someone's looks.

"Why would you like this kind of person? Don't tell me you really like him," Su Mei teased, keen for some gossip.

"Trust me, I'll kill you," Water Fairy coldly said as she squinted her eyes.

"So you like him, or else you would've denied it! My God, I thought you'd never like a man in your entire life!" Su Mei squealed and shouted.
