The Great Thief

chapter-993
The conference wasn't for anything important. Other clubs held conferences at the end of the year, so Ruling Sword felt obliged to do the same. During this period of time, they often had gatherings outside of the game to build a connection with each other.
The end of the year was often a good time for players to change guilds, as this was when competitors finished the last of their matches.
More communication could definitely help to reduce the chances of competitors leaving the guild.
Ruling Sword didn't have the capability of head-hunting. They had only managed to pick up Mu Qiu, whose chances of appearing on stage increased significantly after he joined Ruling Sword. Fortunately, his performance had been stellar so far. No one could do the head-hunting job better than someone who has reincarnated, but Ruling Sword just couldn't afford it.
This was mainly because they had no financial resources to do so. They had to look out on how they spend money now, as Lu Li's financial crisis seemed to be growing worse.Of course, Lu Li wasn't actually poor, considering that he owned one of the largest guilds with the most potential. There was already a company willing to invest 30 million dollars in Ruling Sword.
Lu Li just needed to nod his head to become a millionaire.
Just half a year ago, he was still a poor man who saved every penny, willing to do anything to pay for his sister's medical bills.
In the age that they were in right now, gaming had become the biggest thing. This was why Lu Li didn't hesitate at all to choose gaming as his career, instead of relying on things like the lottery.
Of course, by now, Lu Li had set his gaze on something further ahead.
Now, he wanted a stable title, not just one that could be easily replaced.
Ruling Sword actually wasn't short on players. At the very least, all the current competitors had lived up to their expectations. They were contributing well to their team and all they needed were backups.Lu Li had planned for Kitty Likes Meat's dad to look after the team substitutes.
Lu Li didn't quite feel like players from his guild would leave. It would be rare for a competitor to give up a guild like Ruling Sword for a small profit. On the other hand, he was also confident about his comrades.
The ones who were with him right from the start not only had a strong relationship with him, but had also been generously rewarded by him.
As for Mu Qiu, he had already changed guilds once.
It would be possible for him to change guilds again within the next two or three years, but no one would want a competitor who constantly moved around. Fat Monkey just wanted to battle everyone and didn't have much passion for money. As for Kitty Likes Meat, it seemed liked her whole family was tied with Ruling Sword.
The conference simply consisted of everyone chatting together and gossiping about things in the game.
Afterwards, Lu Li would bring the others to Stratholme. The dungeons in Dawn refreshed once every week, so the new dungeons were available again this week.
Completing the dungeons also allowed him to level up. He was only a step away from level 50 and would most likely reach it today. Most importantly, doing the dungeons would give him equipment for the next one. It was important for him to complete Stratholme a few more times.
At the moment, there were others guilds that had cleared Stratholme. Some had even managed to beat the record that Lu Li and the others had first set.
It was still Nightmare mode, but because everyone's equipment had already been upgraded, the first few bosses were quite easy.
Of course, the loot wasn't fantastic either. Besides two Dark Golds and a Gold, the others were only good for the guild storage. However, this couldn't be helped – their loot chance had dropped by at least 20% since this wasn't the First Clear. As they continue to repeat the dungeon, the equipment drops would only worsen.
Despite this, the drop chance of the mount wasn't affected, so they were still hopeful about Baron Rivendare.
Lu Li's team had obtained two mounts already from Stratholme, while the other guilds had also managed to find a few for themselves. There were plenty of players in Dawn, so there were bound to be a few lucky ones.
Hence, the Deathcharger had become extremely popular. Its current price on the market was around a million, and it was so rare that even money didn't guarantee that a player could obtain it.
At the moment, only a few players could pass the dungeon. In about two months, most players would have managed to take down Baron Rivendare. When that time came, the world chat channel would explode with players trying to purchase a Deathcharger.
Some smaller sized guilds even disbanded because of this. All the players who entered Stratholme always checked the loot distribution mode first; no one would join any team where the leader distributed the loot.
Besides the expectation that everyone had for the Deathcharger, Lu Li's team members also had to complete some leveling quests. The hardest of these was probably the one where they had to kill Baron Rivendare in 45 minutes and save Ysida Harmon.
It was fine even if they didn't have any T0 gear at the moment. As long as they completed this quest, the System would skip the quest for them when they needed to upgrade their equipment.
Dawn was quite considerate in this aspect.
Ysida Harmon was locked inside a room beside Baron Rivendare; not a finger has been laid on her.
However, they had to kill Baron Rivendare in under 45 minutes, which was no easy task. There were hardly any teams out there that was capable of doing so.
The second time Baron Rivendare appeared, it seemed like he had forgotten he was being killed by the same players last week. He still greeted them with an air of aristocratic grace, but was ruthlessly interrupted again by Lu Li and the others as they attacked him up.
Lu Li knew at least three hundred different ways to defeat this Boss. Last time, they had managed to him down at the cost of two lives. This time, they only did better. The finished the battle in 38 minutes, faster than they had all anticipated, then rushed to loot the corpse.
Baron Rivendare's Sword or the Deathcharger would make the trip worth it.
Unfortunately, the first item they looted was a pair of T0 gloves for Druids. Hachi Chan was overjoyed and gave Remnant Dream a little kiss.
The other equipment was more ordinary; even the skill book wasn't so great.
However, after some momentary disappointment, everyone returned to their normal selves. This was a normal exchange of emotions in a typical Dawn dungeon.
They obtained some usual things and a pair of keys that would only drop when Baron Rivendare was killed under 56 minutes. This key allowed them to gain access to the secret chamber besides the room to release Ysida Harmon.
The Bosses afterwards didn't drop anything worthwhile either, besides the Righteous Orb.
However, the final Boss – Balnazzar – gave Lu Li a surprise.
