- Chapter 191 : A champion of justice
We were in the lecture hall of class 2.
As the Conflagration King finished explaining about magic circles while making exaggerated gestures, and was in the middle of selecting students for immediate training, the bell chimed, signaling the end of class.
“Mhm? Class is already over, it seems. Well then, that’s all for today. Don’t forget to review the spell I just taught you. Also, don’t you go make a game of casting <Resurrection Ingall> on your friends, okay? With your level of skill in magic, they would just stay dead, after all. KAHAHA!” (Eldmed)
Eldmed left the classroom, cackling out loud and in a good mood.“As if he needed to warn us. No one’s going to do that…” Sasha retorted as a complaint.
“Actually, my head hurts and I feel dizzy. Are you sure this doesn’t mean that I was resurrected wrong…?” (Sasha)
During swordsmanship class, Sasha had died twice.
Of course, she was immediately revived via <Resurrection Ingall>.
“This is probably death sickness. It happens all the time when you’re not used to death. It’s also a matter of body constitution, but you’ll get used to it soon.” (Anos)
“…I really don’t want to get used to it…” (Sasha)
Sasha plopped down on her desk, looking sick.Misha walked to her side and gently stroked her head.
“How come you’re feeling fine, Misha?” (Sasha)
She shook her head in reply.
“The others feel better than me.” (Misha)
Misha looked up.
Lay, Misa, Eleonore, and Zeshia were looking the same as usual.
“I’m used to dying, after all.” (Lay)
“Um, in my case, well… My rumors and lore are about Avos Dilhevia, so I feel completely fine. Not that I have any experience, though…” (Misa)
“As for me, maybe it’s because I’m good at source magic. And because I’m the Demon King’s magic.” Eleonore said while raising her index finger.
“That was… my first time. I feel… fine…” (Zeshia)
Sasha gave the girls a reproachful glare.
“That’s not fair… Is dying a specialty of the Hero’s…?” Sasha asked while standing up.
“Say, anybody wants to go to a cafe? I want to drink something cold and sweet.” (Sasha)
Misha nodded.
“Oh yes, count me in. Preferably somewhere that serves alcohol.” Eleonore happily said.
Looks like she was already thinking about what sort of drink she wanted.
“Nothing like… an after-school drink…” (Zeshia)
“Ahh, you’re still too young to drink, Zeshia. I’ll get you a non-alcoholic cocktail.” (Eleonore)
“…I will be… patient…” Zeshia said in frustration.
“Is there any shop that serves alcohol at this hour?” Lay asked Misa.
“…I don’t drink, so I have absolutely no idea…” (Misa)
Sasha turned her gaze at me.
“Anosh, you’re coming too, right?” (Sasha)
She brought her face close to mine and whispered.
“If you turn back into Anos and join us, no one will suspect a thing.” (Sasha)
“Hmm. Unfortunately, I already have a prior appointment.” (Anos)
“Eh…?” (Sasha)
When Sasha gave me a questioning look, a male student in black came over.
It was Ramon.
“Let’s go, Anosh.” (Ramon)
“Sure.” I replied, leaving my seat.
“You see, I’ve received an interesting invitation.” I told the others.
For a moment, Sasha gave Ramon a look of pity.
She immediately whispered to me again.
“…All I can say is that he has all my condolences for inviting you…” (Sasha)
“See you guys later, then.” I said with a sadistic smile.
Then I walked over to Ramon.
“So, where are we going?” (Anos)
“That’s a surprise for when we get there.” Ramon said suggestively.
Which meant he was afraid of mentioning it in class.
By the looks of things, he might even take me to the Resistance’s hideout.
At the very least, he may give me a chance to meet the remnants of the Royalists.
At that moment, the door rattled open with a bang.
Those who burst in were girls I was familiar with: the eight Fan Union members.
“J… Just in time…!” Ellen shouted while turning her gaze at the students.
But then, when she saw that no one was standing on the podium, she smiled in embarrassment.
“H… Huh? Could it be that we’re too late…?” (Ellen)
“I don’t see the teacher anywhere…” (Fangirl A)
“W-Wait, maybe it’s recess time.” (Ellen)
“Are you sure? If we made it in time, shouldn’t this be the last class of the day?” (Fangirl B)
The Fan Union girls were chatting among themselves.
Their official duties were probably prolonged, causing them to arrive late.
I called out to the girls, who were standing there looking puzzled.
“Sorry to tell you, but today’s class just ended a few minutes ago.” (Anos)
“Ah… I-I see… Thanks for—” (Ellen)
As soon as Ellen saw me, she stopped talking and froze.
“…A-…A-…A-… ANOS-SAMAAAAAAA?!” she yelled.
“How come you have turned so cute— I mean, so delicious— I mean, so mouth-wateringly tempting?!” (Ellen)
“C-Calm down, Ellen! You’re getting even more disrespectful every time you correct yourself!” (Fangirl A)
“Oh no! Umm, please forget what I said. Right! Um, how come you have turned so small?! Also, why are you at the academy?!” (Ellen)
Hmm. I’m impressed they could tell it was me at glance, even though I had concealed my source.
“Sorry, but you got the wrong person. I’m a transfer student, Anosh Polticoal.” (Anos)
“…Anosh Polticoal…? But…” (Ellen)
The Fan Union girls stared at my face.
As if to say that I was clearly Anos, no matter from what angle.
“…’Anos’…? ‘Turned small’…?” Ramon muttered.
Then he glanced at me with suspicion.
Hmm. I had a hunch it wouldn’t do me any good if he suspected me. And he may have some reservations about taking me to the Resistance.
Still, there was no need to panic.
Because I had excellent subordinates, after all.
Therefore, I turned my eyes to Sasha, and pleaded with her to do something about this with my eyes.
Though she first responded with an expression telling me that I was asking for too much, she worked her brain at high speed and opened her mouth right after.
“Come on. What are you talking about, Ellen? Do you miss Anos so much you’re mistaking everybody else for him?” (Sasha)
“Eh…? Ah…” (Ellen)
“And remember the other day when you were talking to a bronze statue and calling it ‘Anos-sama’? I know you adore Anos, but save that for when you’re at home, at least.” (Sasha)
For an instant, Ellen gasped, as if she had just connected the dots.
“Oh no, I did it again!” (Ellen)
Right after that, the other fangirls made fun of her.
“Oh boy, Ellen’s Anos-sama deficiency syndrome strikes again.” (Fangirl A)
“Tell me about it. Everytime she finds someone or something that even remotely resembles Anos-sama, they all become Anos-sama in her mind.” (Fangirl B)
“Even the other day, she said that the baton of the orchestra’s conductor looked just like Anos-sama.” (Fangirl C)
“What part of that even looked like him, silly you!” (Fangirl D)
“B-But it’s just that, Anos-sama doesn’t forbid idolatry!” (Ellen)
“What kind of logic is that? I can understand idolizing a statue, but you shouldn’t idolize other people.” (Fangirl A)
