Lu Zhenghang and Jiang Changdai were struggling with each other, with their backs facing against Lu Zhenting. Lu Zhenting was only able to see Lu Zhenghang’s back, and his figure had been blocked from sight by Jiang Changdai.

He saw the two suddenly stopped moving, and Lu Zhenting did not know what happened. He thought that Jiang Changdai had given up, and the thought of Lu Zhenghang getting into an accident had never crossed his mind.

It was only until Lu Zhenghang fell to the side that Lu Zhenting finally saw the blood covering Jiang Changdai’s face.

His pupils shrunk. He turned to look at Lu Zhenghang and saw him holding on to his neck, no longer breathing.

“Ahhhhh!” Lu Zhenting’s newlywed wife screamed in horror.

Lu Zhenting could not care less about her now. His whole body had frozen up as he mumbled despondently, “Zhenghang…”

The knife in Jiang Changdai’s hand was stained with blood. She loosened her grip, and the knife made a clanging sound as it dropped on the floor.

Jiang Changdai crawled on the floor in a flurry and rested herself on Lu Zhenghang’s body. “Zhenghang, wake up. Zhenghang, don’t scare me. Zhenghang, don’t you scare me! I didn’t do it on purpose… Mommy didn’t do it on purpose… It’s not…”

Lu Zhengting vigorously pulled Jiang Changdai away with reddened eyes. She was flung to the ground, and the back of her head knocked on the floor with a loud ‘Thump.’

Lu Zhengting went over to try and feel Lu Zhenghang’s pulse and the breath on his nose, but he could not feel anything.

No more breaths were coming out of him, and there were no more heartbeats. The blood on his neck continued to flow out, dripping on the floor, staining it dark red as it pooled up. Lu Zhenghang’s whole body was lying in his pool of blood.

“Ahhhhhhhhh!” Lu Zhenting suddenly burst into tears. He abruptly turned his head as he glared at Jiang Changdai with eyes filled with hatred and fury.

“You!” Lu Zhenting dashed over to her. “You wretched b*tch! You killed him! Give me back my son! You killed him! Tr*mp! Go to f*cking hell! Go to hell!”

Jiang Changdai was already numbed. She had killed her son with her own hands, and her head knocked on the floor. Her whole body had gone into a paralyzed mode.

Lu Zhenting grabbed her neck and choked her forcefully as if he had lost all his senses.

He had two children in total, and Lu Zhenghang was his only son. It would be challenging to reproduce another even if he had the intention to. He had lots of money, so he was not afraid of paying the fine. But after so many years of not using contraception, he still only had these two children. Hence, he knew that there was not much hope in having another son.

He had invested his life to educate Lu Zhenghang meticulously. Lu Weining was his daughter, and they did have a somewhat father-daughter relationship between them. However, he still looked at her as more of a tool to utilize. Later, when he found out that Lu Weining that looked astute was, in fact, stupid, he no longer invested his emotions as well as mental and physical efforts on her. After Xing Chuang Entertainment closed down in B City, he had sent Lu Weining abroad to re-learn management administrations due to her poor business skills. He did not even call for her to return home to celebrate the New Year.

Now he had only one son in his mind, which was Lu Zhenghang, but Jiang Changdai killed him.

It did not matter whether she had done it intentionally or not. Currently, Jiang Changdai was no longer the lover who had been with him for so many years in Lu Zhenting’s eyes. He no longer remembered all the mutual affections they had in the past.

He was initially a cruel and selfish person. He was one that was willing to throw away any relationships for his benefit, or perhaps it could be said that he had never had any feelings at all.

Lu Zhenting could not care less about who Jiang Changdai was now that this woman had killed his only son. It did not matter how much she had sacrificed for him. The force of the hands that were grabbing onto her neck was getting stronger and more significant.

Jiang Changdai’s hands grabbed onto Lu Zhenting’s hands that were choking her. She was gradually losing consciousness when she saw Lu Zhenting’s appearance that looked like a demon gone insane. His eyes were filled with hatred toward her, and his whole face appeared vicious and violent. His expression made her trembled violently.

Jiang Changdai’s heart had thoroughly grown cold because of Lu Zhenting’s cold-bloodedness.

She exerted strength onto her hands, trying to stop Lu Zhenting from choking her neck. But Lu Zhenting’s hands were stronger, and now that he had gone insane and filled with horrors of Lu Zhenghang’s death. He could not snap back into reality after the considerable blow and wanted this woman to die in his hands.

Jiang Changdai could only feel her body growing colder and weaker by the second. She was struggling to breathe, and her line of sight had turned blurry. From time to time, the lights on the ceiling had turned a little brighter, and at other times, it became darker. Lu Zhenting’s face had started to turn blurry as well.

“Murder! Ahhhhh! Murder!” Lu Zhenting’s newlywed wife screamed with a deathly pale face. She rushed out of the villa and ran as far away as she could on the streets.

On the first day of the New Year, Lin Chu and Yan Beicheng woke up in the Family Mansion.

Last night, everyone stayed together to count down for the New Year and did not go home. They all stayed inside the Family Mansion. Today, they would clean up and go out to celebrate the New Year.

Due to the changes in her sleeping location, Lin Chu was sensitive in sleeping in a different bed, so she woke up early. When she moved, Yan Beicheng woke up as well.

He barely opened his eyes when he wrapped himself around her in a daze and asked, “Are you feeling uncomfortable?”

“No. It’s just that the bed’s changed, so I can’t sleep.” Lin Chu moved slightly, changing her position.

She could not turn herself to face Yan Beicheng’s face due to her belly. It was one of the things that she felt especially sad about after her belly started growing.

She loved being fully embraced in Yan Beicheng’s arms, the feeling of her face getting buried in his chest felt exceptionally warm and peaceful.

Yan Beicheng searched around for his mobile phone and looked at the time. It was seven o’clock. He rubbed his face and said, “Let’s get up, there’ll surely be people coming over for New Year during the day, so we can’t sleep in any way. But you’re a special case if you’re sleepy, just come back in and take a nap. Don’t feel bad about it.”

“Yeah, don’t worry about it,” Lin Chu assured. She knew that he would go out and celebrate the New Year with Yan Huaian with Yan Ningbai during the daytime so he would not be at home. Hence, he was worried about her. She said, “Grandpa and grandma would not let me be tired anyway.”

Yan Beicheng smiled as he kissed her and got up to help her out of bed.

The two packed up and cleaned up before going downstairs. Yan Ningbai was already bundled up from head to toe, which made him look like a ball. He was building a snowman in the backyard.

Yan Huaian and Yu Zi just came downstairs as well. Lin Chu turned to look at them after looking out the window and asked, “Did Ningbai wake up very early?”

“The snowstorm was huge yesterday, and he’s been wanting to build a snowman for a while now. When he got up this morning and saw the thick snow, he immediately ran out. Nan Yuan was also in his backyard, and now the two little guys’ competing whose snowman is bigger,” Yu Zi explained as she took out yesterday’s dumplings from the refrigerator.

After midnight last night, some of the dumplings were cooked and shared amongst them. Afterward, the rest of the uncooked dumplings were frozen and ready to be eaten this morning and on the fifth day of the lunar New Year.

Cooking dumplings were not bothersome, so Lin Chu did not try to help.

“The snow outside is quite thick, so the Old Master and Old Lady have not gone out to exercise. Old Master’s doing Tai chi in the yard, and the Old Lady’s preparing red envelopes in the bedroom,” Yu Zi explained as she cooked the dumplings.

It was the same in previous years as well. It was Lin Chu’s first time celebrating the New Year with the Yan Family. Therefore, she did not know the normal activities they did during these times, so Yu Zi explained it to her.

They needed to prepare quite a few red envelopes, and one would be left for Yan Ningbai. The others would be for the children that came to visit for New Year.

After a short while, Old Master Yan and Old Lady Yan came over. Yan Ningbai’s snowman was only built halfway when he was called in by Yan Huaian.

Old Master Yan and Old Lady Yan sat on the sofa. Yan Ningbai bowed in front of them three times in filial and said words of auspicious toward them.

Then, Old Master Yan and Old Lady Yan each gave him a thick red envelope.

After that, they started to eat their breakfast. Not long after they had finished eating, Nan Jingheng came in whilst making a ruckus along with Nan Jingheng’s big brother, Nan Jingyu, whom Lin Chu had never seen before as well as Yan Ningbai’s good pal Nan Yuan.

Old Lady Yan smiled as she handed Nan Yuan a red envelope, and the two little guys went out to continue building their snowmen.

Lin Chu did not expect Mo Jingsheng to come over and brought Mo Jinxi along with him.

“People are coming over to the house for New Year, and my parents had to entertain the guests at home, so they couldn’t come over with us. They asked me to bring him over so the two family elders could look after him,” Mo Jingsheng explained when he entered.

Old Lady Yan chuckled and agreed, then proceeded to hand a red envelope to Mo Jinxi. Afterward, she let Mo Jinxi went outside to find Yan Ningbai and Nan Yuan to play with them.

After Mo Jingsheng had just arrived and barely said more than a few words to the two elders, he was taken away by the shifty-eyed Nan Jingheng.

“What?” Mo Jingsheng looked at the crafty-looking Nan Jingsheng and felt especially out of words.

Nan Jingsheng dragged Yan Beicheng and Lin Chu, as well as Yan Huaian and Yu Zi over to the dining room. They were asked to sit around the dining room table as if they were having a meeting.

“Ol’ Mo, you came right on time. I need some clarifications on certain news I’ve heard,” Nan Jingsheng whispered after extending his neck to glance toward the living room.

“About which matter?” Mo Jingsheng looked at Nan Jingheng suspiciously, yet he carried a serious expression on his face. He could not help but raise his eyebrows in curiosity as well.

“Were you aware of the matter that happened in the Lu Family yesterday?” Nan Jingheng added, “The Lu Family in Ning City.”

Mo Jingsheng paused for a while and glanced at Yan Beicheng before replying, “I’ve just heard about it from my colleague. You’re quite fast in getting information.”

“Of course. You know what line of work I’m in.” Nan Jingsheng said smugly, “I’ve just heard the news this morning as well. I’m just trying to confirm it with you, and then I’d quickly ask the company to follow up with the news immediately.”

“What news?” Yan Beicheng looked at Mo Jingsheng and Nan Jingheng’s facial expression and knew that it had something to do with him.

“I’ll let Ol’ Mo tell you about it, he knows more than me,” Nan Jingheng said and pointed at Mo Jingsheng.

Mo Jingsheng did not try to evade it. He gulped down the tea and said, “Yesterday night, Lu Zhenghang passed away in the Lu Residence. It was an incident reported by Lu Zhenting’s newlywed wife. When the police arrived at the scene, Lu Zhenting and Jiang Changdai were both there together with Lu Zhenghang’s body. Jiang Changdai had gone into shock from being choked, and there was obvious fingerprints mark on her neck. After an investigation, they found that the prints belonged to Lu Zhenting. Based on the statement given by Lu Zhenting’s newlywed wife, Jiang Changdai had gone over to Lu Residence to question Lu Zhenting about hiding their marriage from Jiang Changdai. She grabbed the knife to threaten Lu Zhenting, asking him to divorce her. Lu Zhenghang tried to distract Jiang Changdai and wanted to grab the knife away, but as they were struggling, the knife accidentally pierced through Lu Zhenghang’s throat. He died at the scene.”

“Lu Zhenting witnessed his son’s death and lost his mind, he rushed toward Jiang Changdai and started choking her. Lu Zhenting’s wife was shocked by the whole ordeal and was afraid that if she stayed there, he’d really kill Jiang Changdai, and do something to her as well. She immediately ran away and called the police. When the police came, Jiang Changdai was already on the floor due to asphyxiation and is currently at the hospital. She just woke up. But she undoubtedly did kill someone, so she’ll be prosecuted for murder. Lu Zhenting was indicted for attempted murder. Both of them will have to go to jail and will probably spend the rest of their lives in prison,” Mo Jingsheng explained.

Lin Chu covered her mouth in shock. Yesterday seemed like a peaceful New Year’s Eve; she never would have imagined something like this had happened.

She worriedly held onto Yan Beicheng’s arm. No matter what type of person Jiang Changdai was, in the end, she was still his mother. He could not pretend as if it had nothing to do with him after such a tragic incident.

Yan Beicheng lightly patted on the back of Lin Chu’s hand and said, “I’m fine. They were the ones that sought troubles. Jiang Changdai need not worry about Lu Zhenting marrying someone else now that both of them are in jail. The saddest part would be they can’t live together in prison, but they’ll get to empathize with each other’s suffering and complete their eternal love.”

Nan Jingheng nodded and whispered, “I heard that Lu Zhenting’s newlywed wife whom he’d just gotten married for half a month with had already found a lawyer to divorce him.”

Yan Beicheng sneered, “Great, it’s another example of getting what you wished for.”

At this moment, the two Wei Family brothers came in as well.

At the dining room, they could hear the sound of New Year’s wishes coming from the living room.

Wei Muran and Wei Muche’s soft voice could be heard wishing the two elders a blissful New Year. Old Lady Yan happily gave them red envelopes, and after the two little fellows had gotten permission from their parents, they went out to play with Yan Ningbai and the others.

“Where are the others?” Wei Ziqi asked.

“It seems like they’re holding a small meeting in the dining room.” Old Lady Yan said, “You youngsters, I have no idea what they are talking about so secretively.”

“I’ll go over and take a look,” Wei Zilin laughed.

Wei Zilin walked into the dining room not long after they had finished their conversations. “What are you guys fussing over now?”

Nan Jingheng saw him and immediately went over to shake his hand, saying, “You’re right on time. I need to talk to you about a new online game that our company’s trying to advertise.”

Wei Zilin raised his eyebrows and walked to him.

The two of them started to talk about work matters, so the others went to the living room instead.

As they were walking out, Nan Jingheng that seemed like he was harboring malicious intentions, asked, “Big Brother Zilin, tell me, am I your good little brother?”

Wei Zilin, “…”

“If your little brother’s asking you for some help. Are you going to help out?”

Wei Zilin, “…”

“Talk to me, please, don’t look at your little brother that way. It’s not a difficult matter; I just need you to open your mouth and say a few words.”

Wei Zilin, “…”

Yan Beicheng and Lin Chu went out and did not expect the doorbell to ring once more.

Yan Beicheng smiled and explained, “It’s always been this way on the first day of the New Year. It’s really lively.”

This time the ones who were here to visit for the New Year were Dai Huimin and Xu Dongguo, as well as Xu Jiaojiao.

“Grandpa, Grandma, Happy New Year,” Xu Jiaojiao wished with a smile on her face. She cupped her hands in salute and paid her respect. Then, she proceeded to place some snacks on the table.

“You’re here for a visit, why did you bring stuff over?” Old Lady Yan laughed as she shook her head.

“This is nothing. It’s not like we’ve purposely made it just for this visit. It’s a tradition our family has each year. The snacks for New Year were always handmade by her father. Do you remember the small restaurant we’ve opened? We’ve just expanded recently and added a new snack counter. Her father was searching for ideas for new types of snacks, and these were the ones that he had recently come up with when he was resting at home for the New Year. It’s not even for sale yet, so we brought some over for everyone to try out,” Dai Huimin explained. “These were all handmade. There are no preservatives at all. The sugar that was used was xylitol as well, so the elders could eat it without worries.”

Old Lady Yan immediately opened the snacks and shared it with everyone.

“Mmm, it’s good!” Old Lady Yan nodded her head while eating.

“If you like them, every time her dad makes a batch, I’ll ask Lin Chu to send them over,” Dai Huimin smiled.

Yan Beicheng brought Lin Chu over to sit with them.

Lin Chu asked, “Are you free tomorrow? I’ll come by with Beicheng.”

Dai Huimin looked over in astonishment. She thought about how the second day of New Year was the day daughters would come back for a visit, and hurriedly nodded. “Yes, of course!”

“Grandpa, Granny,” Mo Jinxi and Yan Ningbai came in and brought along a few little kids.

Dai Huimin was always coming over to the orphanage, so Mo Jinxi and Dai Huimin knew each other quite well.

Dai Huimin took some red envelopes out of her bag and was stopped by Old Lady Yan. “You’re here as guests. How could I let you hand out red envelopes?”

“It’s not much. It’s just something auspicious for the New Year. The kids would be happy as well,” Dai Huimin assured. That was how red envelopes worked. Old Lady Yan had given a massive amount to Yan Ningbai, but the kids that came as guests received smaller amounts as a courtesy, and as blessings, no one would belittle the value inside. Even if the kids received ten or twenty Yuan, they would still be ecstatic about it.

Even if they were of the Dominant Families and had high standards toward the way they look at the world, their parents were still strict about their upbringings. Their high standards would be toward worldly things and had no concept about the amount of money they received. If it were enough for them to buy a bag of chips, that would already make them happy.

Yan Ningbai accepted the red envelope, and Yan Zhiqing snorted at him and said, “According to seniority in the family, you’re of the same peer as Lin Chu’s mother. How could you accept the red envelope?”

Yan Ningbai roared at her and immediately shoved the red envelope under his shirt. “Even if we’re peers, my age is still young. This baby is still a child!”

Yan Zhiqing sneered, “Shameless!”

Yan Ningbai turned his little butt and brought all the other children out to play, as he conveniently observed for someone else to come over for the New Year, intending to get more red envelopes.

Lin Chu smiled as she looked at the house that was filled by people, placing her hands on her belly and caressing it.

How great was this? Now she had a family, a child, and lots of friends. She had never thought that her life would be this perfect.
