The President is Being Shameless Again

chapter-274
After Xu Moyan finished eating, she opened up her YY (TN: A type of Social Network in China.) early to go into Massacre OL’s official activity guild. She was not a gaming addict and would play games occasionally, but it would not last very long until she got bored with them. The longest time she played for was probably a week.
It was mainly because she did not team up with others, and there were no friends that would play with her. Lin Chu and Zheng Yuntong did not play games, and it was also dull to do missions every day.
Moreover, she was an advertising planner and would usually be very busy. As a slave to overtime, she rarely did have the time to play these.
However, she entered this guild today because of the activities happening tonight. Massacre OL was a new online game launched by Nan Yin Corporation. The cost of investment was on a large scale. The motion pictures were completely refined, and the martial arts movements were dazzlingly good-looking based on the exposed internal video she had seen online. Xu Moyan did not have the slightest clue if the game was fun. Her only requirement was for the games to have good-looking characters and had beautiful frames.
Additionally, this was not the most crucial part. The most important thing for her was that this particular game had sought out a lot of well-known CV (TN: Character Voice) gods in the industry that comprised of Internet voice actors as well as commercial voice actors. As a ‘voice-activated dog’ (TN: A term used for someone that had a complex for pleasant voices), these attractions were fatal for Xu Moyan. As early as a week ago, Massacre OL’s official Weibo had publicized that at 8 o’clock tonight, a crowd’s CV god would come to YY to interact with the fans. The host and honored guest that would warm up the audiences would be the CV, Cold Song of Muye, a well-known Internet voice actor in the community. Other than popular CVs from the Internet voice actors’ community, there were also renowned cover song singers that would be present from the ancientry community.
Again, Xu Moyan was not particularly interested in these. Among those CVs, there were several voices that Xu Moyan was fond of, but they were not voices that she would die for. The voice that had made Xu Moyan stay put in front of her computer half an hour in advance was the voice of the unusually mysterious Yu Linling. It was also the voice that Xu Moyan had liked for many years and had never changed.
To be precise, Yu Linling was not even considered as a voice actor within the community given that he had only dubbed for a single role before, and it was a supporting role as well.
It was the domestically made martial arts film ‘Massacre’ that became the box office dark horse a few years back. The game ‘Massacre OL’ was based on the adaptation of this film.
Yu Linling had dubbed for a character named Qi Shaofeng, a master that was upright and was also nefarious. Initially, he had followed orders from the emperor and massacred a circle of martial artists. The people of the martial arts circle could no longer endure the bloody hurricane brought by the monarch and organized an assassination against him. Just after all the assassins were killed by a eunuch that was always by the emperor’s side, the master that Yu Linling had dubbed for suddenly changed sides and began to fight to the death with the eunuch. Ultimately, the two died in mutual destruction and gave the film’s main character a chance to eventually kill the emperor.
Xu Moyan initially had no interest in domestic movies, but the school’s theater had screened out the film, and the tickets were only five Yuan per person. At the time, Xu Moyan and Lin Chu were both sophomores, and they had nothing much to do every day. Out of extreme boredom, they went to watch a movie to pass the time. Yet unexpectedly, Xu Moyan had remembered his voice for all these years after watching it once.
At the time, when the dubbing actors and actresses’ names were shown, the other casts had used their real names. He only had the three words ‘Yu Linling’ written on it, and one look was enough to know that it was a pseudonym. It was especially conspicuous in those strands of names.Yu Linling had vanished after dubbing for this single role, and no one had ever found out who he was. Even commercial films and TV series producers were looking for him, not to mention those non-profit Internet voice actor organizations, and they never could. They had also contacted the producers of ‘Massacre’ from Han Bang Films, but Han Bang refused to open up about Yu Linling’s identity. They only told them that he was not interested in dubbing and did not intend to do this as a career.
However, Xu Moyan could never forget Qi Shaofeng’s voice that was upright and nefarious at the same time. When he disguised his identity to meet with his lover, he was dressed in white and looked like an elegant son of nobility. His voice was gentle and refined, and sweet-sounding akin to bells placed near the ear. While he was massacring the martial artists, his sharp blade was stained with blood, and his voice was somewhat sparse and had an evil as well as demonic tone to it. He made it hard to believe that there was such a sinful and demagogue voice in this world. Just like in the dark silent night, a Kraken’s whispers could be heard from the deep sea, tempting one to throw oneself into the bottom of the ocean.
In the end, when he had taken down the eunuch by perishing himself, he fell into his lover’s embrace. The voice he had was gentle, soft and in love, and yet filled with sighs of regret. It was as if a strand of green color smoke had floated into Xu Moyan’s heart.
“Qing Qing, I’m truly sorry. I couldn’t do what I promised you. I’m someone that has countless blood debts in me, so please cremate me. I hope my blood debts could be repaid by raging blaze on my whole body and wash it clean. I hope I’ll be cleansed and qualified to meet you in the next life and become the truly pure and innocent Qi Shaofeng, such as the snow, that will… never again… deceive you…..”
Soon after, the last exhale that carried the tone of reluctance to part with one’s lover had made thousands of girls in the theater trembled into tears.
The worst part was that the actor that played Qi Shaofeng could not bear the pressure of Yu Linling’s voice. The voice was so remarkable that it had overshadowed the actor himself. Initially, the actor had gained a little bit of attention because of Yu Linling’s voice, but when he had accepted an interview on his own, his real voice was revealed. There was too much of a discrepancy between his voice and Yu Linling’s, that his popularity fell by half. It completely did not match the image of Qi Shaofeng in the fans’ hearts.
When the film was screened, the most popular character was not the male lead. Instead, it was Qi Shaofeng. But in a blink of an eye, the popularity of Qi Shaofeng had dropped rapidly, and it was indeed a miserable sight.
The fans had launched the topic ‘Searching for Yu Linling’ on the Internet. Even if he had no account of his own on Weibo, some fans had spontaneously established a Yu Linling’s Fan Support Club account, and in the past six years, the fans had only increased. Even if new CVs were continually emerging, no one could ever replace Yu Linling’s position.
Xu Moyan had also become one of his fangirls after listening to his voice. Also, because he had never done any other work, she went on to look for voices that were similar to Yu Linling and henceforth bound herself to the community of Internet voice actors. However, she could never find a voice similar to his.
Xu Moyan was clear that akin to a permanent mark on her heart, the voice could never be replaced, she was afraid that even a little bit of similarity was impossible to find.
Therefore, when the official Weibo account of ‘Massacre OL’ announced the campaign activity, the fans went crazy and forwarded the news everywhere and rushed to tell each other. Xu Moyan was so excited she shrieked loudly and was caught by her superior for going on Weibo during working hours. She was even reprimanded for it.
Hence tonight, she was in the guild half an hour earlier. Even so, she was still shocked by the number of people upon entering. The number of people in the guild had exceeded ten thousand and also lagged the computer server.
Fortunately for her, she came in earlier, otherwise she would not have been able to squeeze in if she were to go in a little later.
The campaign had not started, but the guild was already filled with fans. They were occupied with chatting and confessing to their idol.
“When is Yu Linling showing up?”
“It should be at the end. I saw the announcement that he was the finale.”
“Massacre’s so awesome this time. They’ve even managed to invite Yu Linling.”
“[Big cry] It’s been six years, I’ve never thought that I’ll hear Yu Linling, my liege’s voice again. It’s giving me an ‘In one’s lifetime’ feeling.” (TN: In One’s Lifetime is a song from 2002 by Shino Lin.)
When the words ‘In one’s lifetime’ came up, the chats below started to line up one after another.
“It does give out an ‘In one’s lifetime’ feeling. To actually to hear his voice today, I have no regrets in my life now.”
Xu Moyan did not join in the chatting as she did not know these people. The fact was that the fans in these mixed circles were all of a young age. So much so that there were even junior high students. Xu Moyan suddenly felt like an aunt in these groups of fans and was too embarrassed to emerge and chat with the children.
She rubbed the hollow of her palms together. She was already too stirred up and started to sweat before the campaign had even begun. Then, she grabbed a glass of warm water for herself and opened a bag of chips.
The door behind her was not closed, and Zheng Yuntong had placed her hands on the door frame as she stretched her head in and asked curiously, “Moyan, what are you watching?”
Xu Moyan turned around and grinned, did Zheng Yuntong not realized that her action looked like she was mentally disabled? It resembled the actions that were usually done by the children from the orphanage.
“I’m in a guild now. Later, there’ll be many CVs and cover singers from the ancientry community that’ll do interviews and interact with the fans.” Xu Moyan’s eyes lit up as she brought up this interest of hers. Then, she waved her hands at Zheng Yuntong. “My idol’s finally showing himself after six years, do you want to listen as well? His voice is really, really, really nice. It’s absolutely the type of voice that’ll ruin your whole life once you listen to it.”
After renting a house with Xu Moyan for so long, Zheng Yuntong was well aware of Xu Moyan’s little hobby.
Zheng Yuntong looked at the screen and shook her head. “No, thanks. I’m going to watch The Empress. What if once I’ve heard it, I’ll become a ‘voice-activated dog’ like you and ruin my whole life and can’t find myself a boyfriend. Who’ll I cry to?”
“I’m a rational fan, okay? I’ve been single this whole time because my destiny hasn’t arrived, it’s not because of this voice,” Xu Moyan said but felt an inexplicable feeling in her heart. She knew that because of this voice, she had turned down suitors because they were unable to touch a specific section of her heart.
She thought that she was indeed a rational person and she had matured since she started working. There were daily confrontations in her workplace, and she had to deal with customers regularly. She was no longer a girl yearning for love and was no longer full of dreams with unrealistic illusions. She was also not hoping to meet the person that the voice belonged to and had some sort of connection with him.
However, she had stayed single this whole time and felt indifferent in the face of people that were wooing her. Did it really have nothing to do with this voice?
Xu Moyan’s face started to flush. She quickly got rid of the happy questions she was asking herself in her head and mockingly looked toward Zheng Yuntong. “Of course, you shouldn’t be afraid of being single. Assistant Shen’s voice is really nice as well.”
Zheng Yuntong covered up her blushing face with both of her hands and exclaimed, “You… don’t keep bringing him up. There’s nothing between him and me.”
