Chapter 365: Grandfather, Your Assist is Coming in Way Too Strong

Old Master Wei’s heart felt like it was blooming after being told this. The corners of his lips began twitching as he struggled not to smile.

He looked at Xu Moyan with eyes filled with kindness. No one in the Wei Family has been treated like this before.

Don’t all old people like to spoil their juniors and keep them by their side to make them happy?

“If there’s anything you need in the future, just come to me and I’ll take care of it for you!” Old Master said after slapping his knee.

Xu Moyan smiled shyly and nodded her head.

“Right, the food you posted on Weibo looked so delicious. Some of the recipes are so complicated. I’m sure that the dishes you make are even better than the ones in the restaurant.” Old Master Wei leaned forward and chatted with Xu Moyan.

Wei Zilin nodded before she could reply. “That’s true. She’s a great cook. I don’t know why her food is always better than other people’s even if it’s the exact same dish. It’s even better than the ones in the restaurants. Also, the dishes she makes are healthier since she puts less salt and oil in them. I rarely eat in restaurants after getting together with her. Now, I can’t even stand the food in restaurants.”

“Really?” The Old Master asked while glaring at Wei Zilin.

‘How dare you show off your girlfriend who’s good at cooking in front of me, you little rascal.’

The Old Master mumbled to himself. He was hinting that he wanted to try his granddaughter-in-law’s cooking, but his grandson took the opportunity to show her off instead.

Looks like Wei Zilin’s answer did not please the Old Master.

Since she was aware of the Old Master’s temper, Xu Moyan stifled a laugh. “If it’s okay with you, let me cook for everyone this afternoon so that you can all try my cooking.”

“Great!” Old Master Wei nodded and said, “But just a few plates, not too much. There are too many people here, so it’ll be exhausting for you to make everything. Just make a bit and leave the rest to the housekeeper.”

“Alright,” Xu Moyan answered.

While they were talking, Wei Mingli and Tian Fangyu arrived. Being Wei Zilin’s parents, they were the most anxious since their son was bringing his girlfriend home for the first time. This was why they were the earliest.

Tian Fangyu was smiling while Wei Mingli appeared expressionless. You could not tell whether he was happy with Xu Moyan or not.

Once they arrived, Wei Ziqi and Wei Ran got up and offered their seats to them before sitting sit to Wei Zilin and Xu Moyan.

Before this, Wei Ziqi and Wei Mingli had gotten into a big fight which caused a strain on their relationship. This was because Wei Mingli had worked with the Presbyterian Church to detain Wei Ran so that she would divorce Wei Ziqi.

He even wanted to take over Wei Minghao’s position as the head of the family. He was incredibly ruthless, even to his own family.

Wei Ziqi’s temper was not that good, but he would spoil the people that he loves. There was sure to be fights with Wei Ran after being married to her for so many years, and sometimes, he would say some mean things when he felt jealous over some minor things, so Wei Ran would often scold him about it. However, in the end, he would always let Wei Ran scold him with a smile on his face. During the fight, both of them would let out everything they had on their minds.

Everyone would get the chance to say what they wanted, even if their tone was not the best. After they were done, they would forget about what had happened. In this way, they could avoid the need to scream at each other.

Wei Ziqi did not forgive easily and would not return evil with kindness. However, it always depends on how the person in question had wronged him. If it was something minor, then he would just treat them as a stranger and perhaps nod his head out of politeness if they were ever to cross paths.

However, if it was something serious, he would want them dead.

However, Wei Mingli was his second uncle, so at most, he could only treat him as a stranger.

Since Wei Zizhe was older than him, in addition to the fact that they did not interact much, they were not close. He was closest to Wei Zilin; Tian Fangyu did cause some chaos for the family, but those were mostly orchestrated by Wei Mingli.

Tian Fangyu was someone without any ambitions. She was just a housewife whose only job was to take care of her husband and son. She had no opinions on anything, and as long as her husband and son were fine, she would be happy.

Tian Fangyu had become more peaceful during the years after Wei Mingli had been kicked out. She changed quite a lot after being supervised by Wei Zilin, and her relationship with the family had changed for the better. She had even apologized to Wei Minghao and Lin Qiuye whilst being accompanied by Wei Zilin.

This was why Wei Ziqi was never enthusiastic when it came to Tian Fangyu. Nevertheless, he still respected her. Whenever she asked for help, he would lend a hand, even if he was not too keen on doing so.

On the other hand, since Wei Ziqi could not kill Wei Mingli, he could only treat him as a stranger. His treatment of him was completely different than of Wei Zilin and his mother.

Therefore, when Wei Mingli and Tian Fangyu arrived, Wei Ziqi called out “Second Aunt” and nothing more. He did not want to address Wei Mingli.

Wei Ran felt awkward about this too. Before this, she would address Wei Mingli as Second Uncle, but Wei Mingli would just ignore her when she did. Thus, she stopped addressing him.

When both of them called out “Second Aunt”, Tian Fangyu smiled and nodded.

Wei Muche soon got sleepy, so he went to sleep on a small bed nearby.

After this, Tian Fangyu turned her gaze to Xu Moyan.

Xu Moyan wanted to smile at her, but the corner of her lips cramped up due to nervousness.

“Aunty, I’m Xu Moyan,” Xu Moyan said. Despite being nervous, she still remained polite.

Tian Fangyu smiled and looked at Xu Moyan. Her gaze was friendly and did not look threatening at all.

Tian Fangyu lost her meanness during the years when her husband was absent. She had become more peaceful during those years.

She saw that Xu Moyan was pretty, even if she was a little nervous. Even so, it did not hide the fact that she was polite. She liked the fact that Xu Moyan was not an ordinary girl next door.

Perhaps a normal person would prefer a girl next door, but Tian Fangyu felt that a girl next door would not be suitable for her son. A girl next door was basically someone who is gentle yet introverted; a girl like this would not be the best person to be in the spotlight.

She thought most girl next doors were boring and uninteresting.

Her son should be with someone who was generous and carefree. He was already very serious, so he needed someone who was carefree so that they could be happy together.

Despite being nervous, Xu Moyan’s voice was still clear. She laughed widely, showing her pearly whites.

She was carefree and not pretentious; hence Tian Fangyu was satisfied with her.

Suddenly, Old Master Wei said, “What aunty? Don’t be such a stranger. Call her mom.”

Xu Moyan, “…”

‘Grandfather, your assist is coming in way too strong.’

“Right, since you’re already calling him grandfather, you should just call her mom,” Wei Zilin said with a grin. He was not planning on helping her at all.

Xu Moyan poked him in the side with a blushing face. ‘What are you doing?’

How can she call Tian Fangyu mom when they’re not married yet? She had to be very thick-skinned to be able to do so.

Tian Fangyu was even more satisfied with her after the Old Master said this. Even so, she did not dare to say anything.

The Old Master has already made a statement. If she said anything, he would scold her for sure.

Wei Mingli’s face was grim the whole time. He looked at Xu Moyan and said to Wei Zilin, “You didn’t even think to come to me with such big news. Do you still think of me as your father?”

Wei Zilin smiled lightly. “That’s why I brought her here today.”

At that moment, Old Master Wei threw his trinket on the coffee table, causing a loud bang. The sudden noise startled everyone.

Little Muche woke up from the noise and slowly opened his eyes.

Since he did not get enough sleep and was also suddenly awoken by the loud noise, he started crying. So, Wei Ran hurried over and cuddled him. She patted his back and whispered some soothing words in his ear. Nevertheless, she kept her volume to a minimum since she did not want to disturb the tense atmosphere in the room. Soon after, she carried him out of the living room and into a bedroom while soothing him back to sleep.

She was afraid that he would fall out of the bed when he turned over, so she stayed with him and did not go back to the living room.

Back in the living room, Old Master Wei glared at Wei Mingli out of the corner of his eye.

“The reason for calling you here today is to tell you about this. If Zilin doesn’t think of you as a father, he wouldn’t have called you here. Don’t play the father card on him. How dare you play mind games while I’m still around, do you still think of me as your father? How dare you talk about your son when you’re not even that good of a person yourself!” Old Master Wei slammed his fist down on the side of the armchair.

Wei Mingli was afraid of Old Master Wei. Therefore, his face changed and he instantly shut his mouth after being scolded.
